All they can actually do is kill all the links to the existing tool on those forums. Nothing more nothing less, especially since the tool was designed to serve a different purpose altogether(i am assuming T_D had nothing of this sort in mind when he created it), and is not breaking any EULA (AFAIK) as long as no content that has been reversed-engineered is published. Now, while the tool (which i have tried myself) is not gonna keep all the MLOD properties (missing points, inverted faces etc), and a lot of aditional work would be needed to get it in the game, it will give you the base model, which is sufficient to be able export to 3rd party software, and then sell it or what not. I support and understand rock's decission 100%, especially since he is earning a leaving out of those models. Even if he wasn't, very few ppl who haven't create a 3d box by themselves will understand the amount of work that is needed for creating a model, texturing it and configing it. If i were to see any of my models lined up on a website such as turbosquid for sale, i would be rather pissed for someone else getting the credit and money for some work he has never done, even if those models were not part of a commercial contract i had.. I am not sure what is BIS stance here, but this is a delicate matter either way.

Al the A1 models are available in MLOD format. You can get those from HERE or by cheking the old ikonboard forums Every addon maker is pboing his models. It is a good habit (the engine is optimized to work with binarized models) to protect your work...as much as possible You will need to hex edit the texture of the aimpoint_dot_ca.paa to one that you have created, for the weapon you want to change (for instance M4A1_Aim.p3d). Not sure what you mean by shape though...

ARMA3 - Brand new engine or backward compatibility?
PuFu replied to maddogx's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
A lot of ppl are thinking that the current engine doesn't support stuff la physics (which i am sorry to break your bubble but it physics engine runs parallel with the game and animation angines), advanced lighting calculations, render to texture technology or what not. That is not entirely true. You can definatly see the difference between how lighting is calculated and rendered in A2 and the one in OA. And i am sure dynamic lights is possible with BIS engine as well, but what would be the cost of it? Most people are comparing different games and game engines with what BI has developed. Well, no other game out there has the same scope A2/OA has, nor its size, depth, its calculations, its unscripted AI etc etc. On top of all that, it is a big SDK that anyone can play with..Basically it has very little limitation to what one can do with it. Obviously, i would like to see some changes here and there (especially in the modding department and the tools that are provided - especially the availability of plug-ins for the established modelling/animation software out there). But even here there was improvement over what was happening back in the OFP days (the use of proxies springs to my mind here). So in the end, it would obviously be a waste to throw all this code away. Sure, rewriting PARTs of the code would only be beneficial to all of us, but pointing (yet again) that BIS needs to rewrite code so it can bring euphoria, ro havok (with its ragdolls - which i am sorry to say but its getting old now) it's nothing but a sign that you have no idea what a game engine is, and the difference between it and a physics engine. Another request i see way too often, especially coming from new forum members, is stuff such as DX11 support (with its tessellation), opposed to OpenGL and OpenCL. Sorry to say but i would always go for an open dev environment vs a m$ exclusive one... -
but nooo....me already haz HQ pack installed...can this be fixed by the OP pleeease? EDIT: Where can i download the open mind addon?

why don't you use the editing part of those forums instead...? http://forums.bistudio.com/forumdisplay.php?f=93 General talk is NOT for mission scripts or alike

Ross kemp afghanistan. $ Ofp Resistance 2
PuFu replied to jur-yes's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Got some questions for you: 1. What is OFP resistance 2 you are talking about? 2. Why would i spend time in from of my pc, having my avatar drink some beer and talk with some others, when i can do that myself? 3. how much tely are you watching? 4. are you real when suggesting the above? my suggestion to you: go outside, spend some time away from your PC and your TV, and admire those real-life-like renders you will see. Drink a beer, have some fun -
Yes, it is an option in the video panel Best unscripted AI i ever played with/against depends on your difficulty level It also depends on difficulty level, but if you are static hidden in a bush, you can easily remain undetected. There a are a few stages if destruction on some building models, before a total collapse. This game being more than a console port, it does has dedicated servers. Most if not all of those servers are on 100Mbit line, so there is a different quality for the latency and disconnects for A2. The game comes with a CTI gamemod, which is a mix between RTS and FPS, featuring both humans and AI fighting over terrain, money, etc. It is the most played gamemod in this community, on the PvP/TvT side of things no worries

ARMA3 - Brand new engine or backward compatibility?
PuFu replied to maddogx's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
It uses 4Gb+ on my rig... Tested on 2 machines, same clock speed, on is quad, one is dual. I have seen the game using all 4 cores on the quad (with a peek on the first 2 though), and both cores on the dual (i have 1.07 patch) No, it is not...Really You obviously don't know enough.. Why? Because and OpenCL product can run on any OS system, not only M$? -
ACE 1.5 Beta (Advanced Combat Environment)
PuFu replied to xeno's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I am assuming your server is configed properly, and works as it should, running OA or CO. I am also assuming you got Remote Desktop Connection of some sort for your server. FTP way: a, copy paste @ACE, @ACE_X, @CBA or @CBA_OA (if you are running an OA server, and NOT a CO server). b, edit the parameters of your server, adding -mod=@CBA;@ACE;ACE_X in your target line, after the lines you already go there. c, start your server and test it Six updater way: a, install six updater b, run it just like you did for installing the game on your own pc. c, edit an existing shortcut, or use the one that will be created once six-updater finishes -
Installing ACE on my server, help needed.

ALL, and it is a good practice to not answer the question for someone posting outside an existing thread created for this sort of issues (but not only) -

What about some Battlefield-MP-Style mod?

Sorry, my bad I guess. All addons are dlc more or less if I were to follow your judgement :) -
What about some Battlefield-MP-Style mod?
PuFu replied to Sled88's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
1 thing about the said dlc: you are not allowed to sell any of the content you produce that(commercial use ia prohibited): A. Have been done using parts or whole models from the samples released by bis B. If you used any of the tools released freely by via (bi tools or bi tools 2) The above is from the eulas that you have agreed with when you got bi samples and installed bi tools. That said, I am sorry tosay that you won't be able to provide those models as dlc, without an infrigment to the eulas. I guess bi reserves his right for releasing dlcs to this community -

What about some Battlefield-MP-Style mod?
PuFu replied to Sled88's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
No reason for your work to go to waste really. That goes for other content that's in the same state (i lost a few models myself due to a HDD failure last year). If you don't have the time/mood to work on them and get them to A2 specs, you can always release those in MLOD format, maybe someone else will pick it up where you left it. Also, i would put a readme file with your credits if you decide to go down that path. You could also contact granQ, i know he had a project about acquiring non-released and non-used content, so he/his group can finish those and release it back to the community. Either way, just deleting it is, in my opinion, the worst thing you can do ;) -
That is for US exclusivly Depending on what your budget is, there are different options. You can build a game rig for 500EUs that will play the game, and you can build a 1600EUs rig that will play it on high settings. XBOX controller....i would get used to a mouse really. There are 100+ key commands for A2, you won't be able to use all on a controller, no matter what
-
it is one of kju's proper fixes
-
I would go for both: First 5 times is a good option, especially for those newcomers posting all over the place...

Project "Crye Multicam Combat Shirts & Pants": Looking for 3D modeler and texturer!
PuFu replied to CoolSpy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Hello. That is very subjective, wouldn't you say? Well, without any offence towards you, when starting a project, you would need to be able to contribute towards and end result. Find pictures reference images is good and all, but doesn't do much towards an end result, but rather it helps starting it. Without any will to sink your boats, i doubt there will be someone willing to spend time on such a project, for a number of reasons: 1. ego - why would anyone take full credit for the hard work needed for texturing/modelling, someone who only delivered refs (no matter how good those are) 2. involvement - most modellers/textures are already involved in their own projects, together with a team or by themselves. So, your best bet atm, would be to put as many refs down in the ADDON Research Topic, and hope someone will pick it up. You would need close ups of the gear, as well as general overview if those i guess. Best of Luck either way -
Do you want upgraded Arma 2 content?
PuFu replied to AnimalMother92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
this is the Nth thread about this issue. 1. upgrading A2 content to OA standards is a hefty job that would take TONs of time - i doubt it will happen 2. MLODs - since BIS has taken the DLC route, and since a lot of A2 addons have been made by 3rd party developers (so the contract might not allow them to release the MLODs anyways) i wouldn't put my finger on it, saying that it will happen. BTW: you can transform the ODOL version in MLOD version using TD tools anyways (although you will loose the selections, some mem points etc, so some work is required to make it work) -
yes, but not possible on A2...
