  2. No, i missed nothing. Judging by the way you put it, seems only CM has that potential, which is NOT true: every other developer out there has the same "potential" atm as CM. From where i am standing, CM has not advantage besides owning the brandname. Looking over what games are developed now, you could easily state (without someone contradicting over the potent part) that Activision, or EA or Dice have the potential to create the true successor of OFP. And you would be true there (as in they have the money, they have the manpower, the technology etc), but we all know that won't happen due to a number of reasons, the main one being the target audience and the hardware limitation of its said target You should really get over the DR episode. It is old, it is dead, and, for most of the real OFP fans, it was a big fail.
  3. I feel the rule is worthwhile especially for cases where there is a thread about whatever subject, and 1 year later, somebody post there saying: hey, is there any news? (in fact this sort of mindless bumping should be slapped no matter if we are talking about an old thread or not - my own 2 cents) Same goes for discussions about a subject which have been either fixed or is not really of importance anymore.

    Geo LOD doesn't need to be that complex. (as LOD 0) Try with a simple shaped box, where every vertice is welded, convex, hard edged

In that case every bid developer out there has the same potential, if not a even a better chance that CM (because everyone else might base they work on a proper engine, and are not capped by a previous wannabe failed game) Told you before Ben, you are one of those very naive persons out there, one that doesn't even believe himself at times, but nevertheless he forces himself to think some way because he is restricted by a certain view on things, if not the hardware limit. WHo is the target audience for CM? Same as every major mainstream developer out there minus Valve: Consoles. Bear in mind that from the boxes sold by COD6, only 4% were on PCs. 4%! When you aim low (consoles - a restricted platform in terms of hardware, as well as features available to the endplayer (through limited input devices, outside hardware needed -or lack of- for setting up games in a MP environment), you will NEVER be able to accomplish a complex scope video game, no matter how well gifted your team might be

  13. I agree with that completely. Additionally, you could use one of the HD models on commercial 3d websites to bake the normals, but taking it down to LP (at least on a mesh you haven't built yourself) is not an easy task

  15. That is the first i have seen. The ones i have seen around the shows, expos and what not had the solid buttstock. I posted that entire list so you won't check it topas? bad bad boy :P Already had a talk with SA yesterday, and since the decals exist (in form, they need to be colored), all it needs are new textures so it can be packed in the next update. That way you will have everything needed in the RHS BTR70 pack, you won't even need permission, just reference it @vilas: only the PMis have that specific stock, and the fronggrip with the handle. The RPK and PKM familly are exactly as russian counterparts

  19. Don't mind the ones that have no real idea what you really talking about.. While true about the ingame shadow settings (low would use CPU for rendering shadows, while above settings will force GPU to render those (softshadows included), what you want, change the map size from the (most likely 512/512) to a smaller size might be possible using an external .dll file (armalib), but i am not aware of such setting being available to edit in any of arma .cfg or other files. If you want more information about it, i suggest you contact one developers (dwarden for instance).

  21. Yes, TAB 79 is still in use, although i am uncertain about its deployment in Iraq. Anyhow, tab 77 is a modified version of the btr 70 (cough). I would gladly model a DAC/Roman vehicle...it remains to be seen, since i really really wanna finish the other projects i have in different WIP stages, including the ones for RHS.
