    Helicopter miniguns issues

The engine can only handle one shot per frame, afaik, so if you're doing 30 fps that's 1800 rpm. I wonder why they chose to put a 6.8mm weapon on an aircraft. That seems a bit light to me.

Well make a mission where you put a squad down and give them a far off waypoint to make them move, then try to shoot them. See if you can kill anything.

    Helicopter miniguns issues

Well, regardless of the accuracy of the weapons, if you put 5000 rounds into an area, you should have hit something. This means that the problem is not the accuracy of the weapon. Therefore, we must conclude that you weren't able to aim at a target effectively, or the troops were resisting your hits. As with other comments in the thread, I find it really hard to hit point targets from close in, and much easier to hit if I let go a long burst at an area target. In close, you have to aim for individuals. If you are not aiming at individuals, you are spraying and praying. Out farther, because of the beaten zone, you are able to be more effective shooting at area targets like whole squads.

    ARMA III & Steam WORKSHOP

I am a game developer, and when I am creating art for a game I'm working on, the experience is not much different. I'm adding art to a game that exists externally of my art in both cases. ---------- Post added at 15:07 ---------- Previous post was at 15:02 ---------- BI states that content producers retain the copyright of their own work, limited by the tools license. This means that simply putting something in the game does not make it a derivative work for the purposes of establishing who owns the copyright.
  5. IIRC rvmats become part of the p3d when binned.
  6. yeah, it's supposed to be. It's a reductio ad absurdum argument, and it's a pretty good one. Feel free to make a counter argument. ---------- Post added at 14:43 ---------- Previous post was at 14:43 ---------- I hope they find a way to make it interesting! Maybe you'll have a shit meter.

That is a really interesting observation.

BAF, PMC, ACR, and... that's it.

I think if you want to complain about arma 3, you can find a thread already in progress in the arma 3 forum and join in. Same with DayZ. As for mod incompatibility and instability issues, I think those are pretty rare unless you're using couple of full conversion mods together. BI have moved on from arma 2 because the product is at the end of its life cycle. I believe they continue to release beta patches to support the product however. I think you are not alone in saying you would pay for further a2 DLC but I think even ACR was a bit of a stretch and they're focussed on their next product now.
  9. You know what else is a big part of war? Shitting in the woods. Arguably that would be a more common occurrence than complete traumatic amputation. So if we want to simulate WAR then the devs must simulate shitting in the woods... or maybe your argument isn't all that cogent? Regardless of what this game is trying to simulate, the devs make creative choices. You have a different idea of what should be, but this whole argument about how it's not a war game without peoples' limbs falling off is just so weak.

    Game Developer Harassement Article

@JdB It sounds like you're saying that threats to someone's life, to threaten to rape someone's wife, to waste public money sending swat to someone's house, and to put that person in serious physical danger by those officers who are expecting an armed confrontation, are acceptable responses to bad PR. That is quite disappointing. ---------- Post added at 00:49 ---------- Previous post was at 00:25 ---------- Yeah, getting death threats and harassed for free is definitely way better than being paid for it.
  11. Likely they have one or more channels in their normal map inverted. This is an easy mistake to make.
  12. First post updated with the new links! I am uncertain if it's possible to update Six. I will inquire about it.

    Query about seeking use permissions

Creating a mod that requires another mod is okay to do without permission as long as you are not violating the license to make your mod. For instance, reverse engineering a mod may not be permitted. If you wish to get around a license, you require permission from the original author. I can't think of a situation under which creating a mission that requires a mod would not be OK.
  14. Yeah, I think on the E3 feed what they said was slightly more pessimistic. It seems to change. I think a good outlook would be that they will do what they can, but it sounds like it's an extremely big thing to worry about while they're getting the rest of the game working properly. For instance, I would hesitate to posit that they would waste time even talking about an advanced flight model while they're worrying about getting the campaign or AI working properly.
  15. I'm just repeating something I heard. I don't know if it reflects the current situation or what.
  16. Sometimes the AI or scripts act funny when performance is low. Sometimes they don't need a reason to screw up, they just decide they're not working. In your case I would eliminate the wholes addons folder variable before coming to any conclusion. I think the mission files are originally from OFP but are heavily modified, and have probably been modified several times. I don't really see why CWA's missions would be changed at all from the OFP versions.
  17. Please make sure you search before posting a new thread, and post your threads in the correct forum. It looks like you have your answer so closing.
  18. I believe they have said that they won't be including the Take On flight model at least for a while. They were citing difficulties and performance concerns.
  19. Ah! I see. Yes, I run Operation Arrowhead on steam and usually it just takes care of that by itself, without requiring me to mess with the installed files. I believe the mission files we use are based on a menagerie of OFP and OFP: Elite. Regarding the behaviour of the missions and AI, some similarities (including problems) are to be expected and also there are some known issues with getting the AI to behave like they did in OFP. The more you try to control them the more defiant they become, it seems. You are supposed to have access to all content you have currently installed, including ArmA2, OA, any DLCs, CWR2, and any third party mods (which may or may not function properly with CWR2 or visa versa). I can't guarantee the proper functioning of anything with a 'borked' install. I think you can clean it up by verifying the integrity of the game cache tho. Otherwise you can sort your files by 'date added' and delete the ones you added most recently.

    Modding Question For Dev.

The usual procedure for finding information on the forums is to First, search. Second, if you can't find anything that already exists (including your own posts- do not crosspost), create a new topic in the correct subforum. If your questions span multiple topics that are covered by multiple subforums, then it would help to create a couple of different topics with unique questions in each. Third, be polite to the people who are taking their leisure time to help you. You are not entitled to an answer. Rude/ belittling/ hostile posts will be considered flamebaiting. Additionally, if you think that someone is violating the forum rules by derailing, spamming, trolling, or otherwise, then use the report button. You are not a moderator. If another user is not breaking the forum rules, he is free to post as he wishes.
  21. It should start combined ops automatically if arma 2 is present. You should never copy stuff into your root\addons folder. It is possible that the -mod= switch is causing the problem but I've never heard anything like that reported. I manage my mods using the in-game expansions menu. I'm afraid I can't really accept any bug reports until you manage to run the game properly, unfortunately. The mod has never been tested using a version of the game where we dump one addons folder into another. I am unwilling to do that, and I won't be able to reproduce the conditions under which your bug is present. The fact you are trying to help us doesn't escape me and I'm grateful for that, but this bug report can't be used.
  22. How are you running Operation Arrowhead? Is it via steam? I don't think it's a good idea to mess with your game files like that. The root of the problem is you're running combined ops incorrectly. Our campaign is based on the CWA Campaign. I think that's the most correct answer.
  23. Well, you're not going to get much sympathy from me about that. If you think that hitting the apostrophe key is too much work then we have no common ground and there is nothing to discuss. The helicopter controls are the way they are because we're evaluating giving the pilots control of the rockets. Once we have made a decision, we will unify them. Very interesting information. Thanks for this.
  24. Regarding the promotions, I believe I have had promotions myself so if my recollection is to be believed, it's still in there. I can't say when this was tho.
  25. I think that there are more reasons not to make the game incredibly gory than just that some countries don't allow it. I, for instance, don't think I would enjoy working on such a thing as an artist. I don't think I need to spend 8 or 10 hours per day for months looking at scrambled corpses and videos of people dying horribly. Such a thing would have an effect on my quality of life and my general happiness. I think that for this reason, and for other reasons, the developers simply may not want to make their game gory, regardless of legislation.
