    The A-10 killed more enemy armour in the iraq war than all other tanks and aircraft combined. It is slow, maneoverable and heavily armed. It seems perfect for OFP, and I don't see a reason why anyone would consider an alternative for the american armed forces. It was designed to fly low and slow for CAP. The f117 and f16 were not. In fact, flying an f16 under 30,000 feet is kind of rediculous.

    Dunno.. I've only seen them on film. In IR they look like they do with the FFUR script. With film cameras they look like a bolt like in ofp. They look like a bolt because the film's chemicals aren't fast enough to capture the bullet itself. I'd imagine they look like great flying globes in IR because they radiate a lot of heat (like looking into a bright light). I just like it when they bounce (as they do in life)

    Be that as it may, they chose DR and therefore they are responsible for the sounds they chose. Some of the sounds aren't that bad, but the mixing is atrocious. The number of events and other such things that DR adds to ofp are great, though. I think they use different tracer scripts for different kinds of projectiles. They said something about that in their forum. Never noticed it. It must be one of those sublime touches. Sweet! I hope to see them soon. I'm lazy and I don't want to downgrade ECP to try out EECP yet. I didn't learn of ECP until 1.085, and I only downloaded it because of EECP. I'm one of those guys that was scratching his head trying to get EECP to work with the latest ECP. I hear you. I don't really think you'd want a game with tanks that have realistic armour values and stuff anyways. Even if you penetrate the armour, you'd have to hit somethign vital (like a crew member or a hydraulic pump). With something like a LAW or an rpg7, that's sort of unlikely. The only thing that could kill a tank in the hands of infantry would be a tow or dragon or a (russian) at-4 or something... and those things would likely kill any tank in a single hit.... those things are not really man-portable.. which is another point of unrealism. Yeah, that sucks. I noticed that early on, ergo the need for 'burst hit' sounds. Here here! OT: By the way, if you want any information on firearms, I have a book that provides the accuracies of many different kinds of rifles in NATO mils and MoA, and assessments regarding what a trained shooter would be likely to accomplish with the weapon given its site radius, etc. I didn't mention this to the FFUR guys because they're not really *that* interested in realism, so they say. If you're interested I can share.

    The sounds of ECP are pretty lacking and FFUR has some neat additions- like I really like their tracers and the way coaxial machineguns and mounted cannons smoke when you sustain fire. I also like the ai and how the game feels in many ways- but all the particle effects and stuff are way too much.. and ECP is much more atmospheric. If ECP really focussed on improving the sound and the realism of its weapons, ie. taking the burst fire mode out of the ak74, I would be sold. This is the sort of thing I'm hoping from EECP. I'm hoping that the 3rd party units will have a more realistic features.. things like the the cannon on the cobra is not 30mm... and should not look or sound or behave like the 30mm chaingun on the chin of the apache... etc ad nauseum. FDF was really good in these regards.

    You must finish this soon so I can play this instead of clunky, laggy, overdone FFUR and it's CTD's of aggrivation. Blowing appart jeeps is pretty cool- even though they explode like a nuclear bomb... and it sound effects are amazing... but I do enjoy being able to play a game for longer than 5 or 6 minutes before crashing to desktop.

    Pertaining to the ironsights you already have... I've found that the iron sights for the m1911 sd do not correspond well to the bullet flight path. The iron sights are somewhat lower than where the bullet impacts at point blank range... and the pistol produces tracers... but I think the latter might be a BIS bug.

    Now, those reticle detents actually correspond to ranging and rocket/bullet trajectory, right? Or am I the only one who actually uses these features?

    yeah, what other mod out there can say that they add to the experience by tweaking everything, runs lagless and has no conflicts with anything I've tried so far... and even makes the gui interfaces much more functional (by reducing the resolution)? Looks great, sounds great (I cannot overemphasize the quality of the sound mixing, especially the relative volumes of gunfire vs. explosions), play is sublime.. everything is quality at reasonable texture map sizes... coop maps are complicated and interesting.. you can stick c4 ONTO vehicles instead of laying it down beside them... With the normal maps of the new engine, mod making is going to become much more involved.. 3 times more work per model, I would estimate. I really hope those guys get back into it. At least much of their work in terms of programming and tweaking will be transferable!

    To add to Mr. Zig's point, when I put my shooting eye close to it and close my off eye. This makes the optics fill a substancial part of my vision. It looks like most of those sites are being held at arms length, actually. It would be very hard to use the target range estimation measures if they were that small, not to mention that I can anticipate the m21's sites being not much good to me if I'm ranging from the top of the helmet to the belt buckle on a target that's 5 pixels high. Or am I misinterpretting what you are saying and that those shots are without zoom and the ingame experience will be zoomed into the optics more substancially? But the art is quite excellent. edit: That wasn't strong enough in comparison to my complaint. The art is outstanding.

    If you check carefully this thread you'll notice that we've fixed all bugs and CTD for incoming releases Regards Thunderbird84 So this means that other people do CTD? Most missions are alright... they'll play for a while without crashing... but I crash on the first BIS flashpoint campaign mission 100% of the time. I ended up playig it without mods and then starting with FFUR on about mission 4. IT usually crashes on that 1st mission before any dramatic action takes place. I get briefed in the trees, watch some helecopter fire its missiles and then I'm staring at icons.

    Of course, you'd have to do a more thurough job of he m16's iron sites.. that ring is the rear site apperture, to it would have to be blurred aswell.

    Is this the thread to make comments or suggestions regarding the mod? I hope so. Let me first say that my friends and I are really enjoying it. We're even playing the full install in multiplayer coop without a hitch. It's great fun. I've noticed a few issues, though, I would like to share: I think this mod is a lot of fun and it looks really good. One thing that is really bothering me is the frequency of the AI chattering when in 'danger' mode. It's simply too much. It sounds like the russians are reciting some kind of strange mantra to themselves and the americans say things that make no sense. 'Everybody out'? Also, I don't know if the ticking timebombs necessarily enhance the game. YOu can hear those things ticking from half a mile away. That said, the firearm sounds are excellent, and I really like the AI behaviour, especially the armour. I notice the tanks are a little more 'balsy.' The explosion sounds could use some more punch and an increase in volume, but I really like the range at which you can hear things. Also, there is a problem with the m2's bushmaster cannon and whatever portion of DR you're using. When the cannon hits something it sounds like a burst of explosive rounds, rather than a single explosive hit. 1 last thing: if you're looking to increase framerates or decrease video ram load, you could decrease the number of particles that are cast off by the rockets. I know you aren't aiming for ultimate realism, but I think that the particle rocket exhaust flames look hokey. Perhaps it's a matter of taste, but I think that some geometry with a yellowish flame texture behind it that blends into the particle smoke would be more convincing. Anyways, thanks for this cool mod. Blowing the wheels off of a jeep is a pleasure that is rare and precious!
