I'd go with dumb polls, and also dumb polls that don't really belong anywhere so I have to sit and think whether to close the dumb poll or move the dumb poll to where the dumb people hang out, thus I'll move this dumb poll to the dumb forum (formerly known as OT)

It's most likely your drivers, which ones are you using? Which OS do you have? -

Nice idea in theory, the problem with that is the legal issue with the sound clips Satchel used, does he own the rights to all the clips? If not he's still allowed to use them himself (I think?) because he's not using them for profit, if those sound clips belong to other people then they cannot be used without the express permission of whomever created them in O:R because that is a product to be sold.

Cos that sounds like more of a windows error than an error with the game... IIRC that file is one create during an upgrade to XP, it scans your currently installed games/apps looking out for ones that may have incompatibility issues with XP, Opf certainly doesn't it runs very well on XP

If you're expecting 30 player DM then no, if you're happy playing Opf as IMO it's meant to be played with 3 or 4 player co-op then yes it's very playable on dialup, just make sure the host is on a decent connection, cable and up

This comment about Opf and bugs amuses me somewhat, every game released these days has some bugs or another hidden away, why? because multiply every soundcard by every graphics card by every processor by every OS by every motherboard by every driver set by every user configuration and you get one mother hucking hit load of a combination of configurations, there is no possible way for any company to have the means to test products on all those, some bugs will sneak through no matter if a game is held back 12 months for testing (which by the way would never happen with the way publishers operate). Look at it this way, Opf is a completely new in house designed engine, if companies can't even release games based on the old Quake3 and HL engines without there being bugs how can anyone possibly expect a brand new engine that Opf has to be 100% bug free? And I will still return to my age old comment of having a magical version of Opf, as released at 1.0 I suffered from hardly any bugs that I remember, the odd clipping problem but that's about the only thing I can remember, and most games these days seem to have clipping problems, perhaps that's an issue that gfx card manufacturers really need to work on. As for the netcode, well I used to play 1.0 online, friendly Dane with cable as host, myself and a couple of other dialuppers playing co-op, best damned online gaming experience I've had in my life.
