ADF Troops & SASR v1.1 (Bush/Des) - Released
ozanzac replied to skeg_man's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Aww, FFS! You guys could have said something to put the very few whingers in their sad little place, soldier on; and continue to endeavour to put out some well accepted and appreciated aussie add-ons to the community. But no, you give up, declare that you'll do something anti-social to everyone by continuing to develop these damn fine units; but keep them to yourselves by not releasing them publicly... C'mon guys, that's just not cricket. I urge you to reverse the decision to stop, and just brush the nay sayers aside and flip ‘em the bird if you know you’ve got it right (and I think you two do). In the end, no-one gives a shit about what the nit-pickers want / say / demand anyway. -
I wouldn't mind moving to one of the Scandinavian countries, Germany, or European Mediterranean countries for a few years. But after a while, I’d yearn for Australia again.
-
What got me scratching my head is why Iceland is on the list! What would be so good about living there? The cold, and isolation?! And Luxembourg....c'mon! That's barely a the size of a county, let alone a country...so that's hardly fair! I wonder where San Marino, The Vatican, and Monaco came in?
-
Sixth for .au, yeah, that sounds about right. Some political changes and apologies here and there to ease some social tensions could have seen us jump up the rank a few spots, but hey, I'm not complaining...It's summer all year somewhere in this country, and that means bikinis...how many in the top 5 can claim that!

Duke of Ray, are you a Fox News zombie?

I've heard the media call it a suicide snack, and a heart attack in a bun, and god knows what else it will be called. My personal opinion would be to only sell it to healthy individuals who meet a certain Body Mass Index, measured by height and weight testers similar to those seen in shopping complexes...but that would be deemed discriminatory, wouldn't it! But, as a healthy individual, I have to admit that the continuous downsizing of portions in regards to most foods has really shitted me off over the last couple of years. It's like, I have to pay the same for less because the masses (pardon the pun) can't control their diet to healthy levels. So, what's your opinion on the burger, diets, and leading a healthy lifestyle in general?
-
lol! I apologise. But I can't help but wonder what is so delicious about a burger, and such a plain looking one at that? I'd rather a 'real meal' over fast food anyday. The size of the thing alone is truly enough to put me off. Sure, I'd give it a try, but after that, it'd be something I'd probably only eat on either a bet, or for the sake of a drunken eating race! I'll admit, I could eat a horse, ask for seconds and still feel hungry (much due to high metabolism and active lifestyle), but I don't do that because for one, it's expensive and two excessive! When I do go for an 'oversize fatburger', it's at a 24hr Hungry George's, where instead of a soft drink, you get a beer, and instead of trays, there's plates. Kind of a grown ups fast food restaurant. About the only bone I've got to pick with the fast food burger industry, is the downsizing of portions, and their efforts to turn themselves into something they're clearly not, like Cafés, Bakerys and Salad Bars with 'Healthy Choices' ...A waste of resources if you ask me.

I'd support such a device, but would want the option to turn it off, as I prefer no or minimal HUD elements.

Shooting an unarmed, injured person, point blank, in a Mosque, is wrong. Doing it whilst a media cameraman is filming is just plain fucking stupid. Had there not been footage of the incident, it could have, and quite possibly would have, simply been pushed under the carpet, but because the footage is widely known, and the content undeniable, the US Armed Forces are forced to reprimand the soldier…hard. Filmed or not, they should do so anyway, and treat all similar incidents much the same.

RIP Too true...however, WWII veterans are relatively common compared to WWI...there's so few Australian veterans from WWI, that they could be counted on a single hand.

There's very few games out there that go, beyond 'what you purchase'. In fact, many of them either don't lend themselves to be modified, or aren't good enough to be modified in the first place. And seeing as most of us here try to keep up with OFP addons, I'm just wandering, what other games do you guys actively seek to update/upgrade through user made addons? And for the very gifted, what other games do you mod? I'll start by confessing I have no, or very little talent for modifying, other than knowing where to put the files I download. Among the games I actively seek addons for, and occasionally voice my opinion in associated forums, are: OFP (of course) Racer: Free car Simulation Geoff Crammond's GP3 & 4 Falcon 4.0 LOMAC European Air War IL2:FB Call of Duty There are other games I have that are modified, but no longer have enough interest in them to actually seek, or passively allow freinds to do the updating for me at LAN's, such as BF1942, Counter Strike and Need For Speed: Underground. Post yours

How many crap mods have you seen with a full release? What is this chaos you are referring too? Whilst yes, it can be chaotic to keep up with the user made content that is being released, would you prefer absolutly no content at all, or minimal at best? The fact that content is still being released, shows that the OFP community is still very active. Sure, BIS did release a few addons, but behind those addons were from people who recieved dividends from those releases, and support would eventually be forced to wind down, so then resources could be focused on other, more important projects. After that point, if there were no avenue for user content and expansion, & nothing on the horizon from BIS, I would have walked away from the game before resistance even hit the shelves. I beleive you are highly misinformed. Mods tend to be created by groups, rather than individuals. I've yet to see a mod which has been created solely by one person, and managed to get released. While I don't doubt you that there is crap out there, sorting the good from the bad is the users problem, and all content is downloaded at the users peril. If you can't accept that, simple: get a console, or don't download addons. Therefore, to answer your question: I would much rather prefer OFP II to be open to the community for modding, as there's a very slim chance that such a diverse range of addons that we have now could be attained via a developer only approach...unless of course, BIS decides to employ all the gifted content makers out there to create one hell of an addon making machine...but then again, that would all be just a pipe dream.

I ask that all replies to IceFires post be directed towards a new thread which he created, here. This thread is purely interested at looking at the other games that forum users also have an interest in modifying and expanding, in order to boost longevity and experience of those selected games.

Had a 8 player link-up with Halo 2 on Friday night...it was good, but not great... It's just not original enough (at least in MP terms). Put it this way, after two and a half hours, once we found out Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was showing on TV, HALO 2 got the boot.

One could also argue that Hamas has power to restain itself, but it doesn't want to do that. Nor do I believe that Israel has the luxury of restraining itself when bombs go off. No matter which amount of restraint one shows or which negotiations are being put up Hamas does not care and simply does not stop. It seems to me that these renegade elements are impossible to control, they don't obey Palestinian authority anyway. Restraint against orgazinations like Hamas don't work that well as it was obvious in 2000 when peace talks of 'Camp David 2' failed and wave of suicide bombings cost Ehud Barak his premiership despite showing restraint in the initial phase. Call me cynical but it seems that Israel's hard stance and assasinations of Hamas leadership have actually decreased amount of suicide bombings during recent years. Even if PA would have the authority and credibility I doubt it would ever undertake an effort of cracking down on Hamas and risking a full-scale civil war. Hamas and the Izz al Din Qassam Brigades (or whatever they've called themselves now) in particular, are indeed major thorns in the peace process. With a changing of the guard, now is the optimum time for change. Israel needs to let that fact be known to the PA, so then hopefully, some kid of memorandum of understanding can be reached. For instance, if Israel were to allow the PA more power under the right leader, that would in turn allow the PA to crack down on extremists. Then Israel would begin the withdrawal of the occupied territories. If proper leadership is established within the PA, the PA should be able to address the Palestinian people in a way that manages the crackdown of extremists without civil war breaking out... The paradox is, the PA is too vulnerable, and can't protect itself at the moment from anyone. It's built on partly Palestinian land and is thus unfair and illegal. But I do believe it works in stopping incursions of gunmen and suicide bombers. One can hardly claim that Berlin wall was ineffective in it's sinister purpose. Though the Berlin Wall was effective, its purpose did not stand the test of time. Is the purpose of the Israeli wall to keep extremists out, or to be a guideline for a new, Israeli dictated border? If they want to keep the extremists and their deadly tactics out, should not they do so at their true border? This mechanism of 'self defence' on one side is a sign of aggression on the other. In the long term, the wall, in its current position, will not help the peace process. For as long as the Palestinians want the return of the land that is behind that wall, it will hinder the peace process. At the very least, it must be shifted. If the Jewish settlements need protection(in the medium term, as in the long term, they'll likely need demolishment). Put walls around those instead. The settlers ought to know that by choosing to live in a disputed territory, that they're living on a knife-edge. With all due respect I think he was referring to fruitful peace negotiations with Egypt. There is a difference talking to the heads of state than terrorist groups commited to destroying you no matter what. And he died even before the first Intifada began. The words are still true. I can't remember the last time I heard that the PA and the government of Israel communicated outside of an internationally organised peace negotiation, or through use of force. The use of force will, at the most bring peace to only one side. That might be partially true, but I'd like to know has the economic and social situation of Palestinians worsened so dramatically after 1992 when suicide bombings were 'introduced' compared to earlier times of Israeli occupation? I'd see it more like a more efficient way of killing your enemies fuelled by fanaticism with no correlation of actual real life events and peace process (like gaining own autonomy and authority in mid-90s). Of course they would have been better off economically, as continual violence hardly leads to investment. But the feeling one must get for not having a national identity, and being restrained from obtaining one, must be appalling.

Rememberance day was yesterday down here. I always try to purchase a poppy as a sign of respect. Usually picking mine up from a major railway station. Lest we forget.

OK then. Attitudes need to change. The people of Israel, at the very least, need to display to their government that treating the Palestinians like a bunch of animals is not on. Whether or not the current generation of Israelites are able to do that, I don't know, but I'm guessing no, due to the eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth attitudes still apparent. Whilst the Palestinians are equally guilty of this, it does take two to tango, but only one to stop, and Israel has the power to restrain itself, wheras the Palestinian Authority is near powerless, no thanks to [edit]misguided[/edit] retribution attacks from Israel. Instead, they seem quite pleased, or at least of no opinion, that their government has set up a 'Berlin Wall' upon stolen land, to isolate themselves from their neighbours. Disputes with your neighbours don't get resolved by ignoring them....if anything, the frustration of the Palestinian people will only grow under current conditions. "If you want to make peace, you don't talk to your friends. You talk to your enemies." Moshe Dayan Israeli general & politician (1915 - 1981) By continually interfering with the everyday lives of Palestinians, be it fencing them off, forcing them through checkpoints, or the continual expansion of Israel’s borders, is it of any wonder that a small fraction of Palestinians are quite happy to blow themselves up at a bus stop in downtown Jerusalem? The fact they are willing to go so far as to blow themselves up, indicates the severity of the frustration they’re enduring. Sure, building a great big wall is one way to deal with it; after all, it worked for the Chinese circa 200 BC. But that’s where such an archaic idea belongs. It won’t work, nor last forever in the modern world. But alas, that’s why the attitudes need to change. The Israelis need to submit to at least some of the Palestinian demands, but be tolerant enough to make sure all the peace plans are met. Mutual peace should be the number one priority. Revenge should be last. After the plans are met, the Israeli’s can build all the walls they like, provided it’s on the agreed border… Otherwise, nothing will ever change.

"Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it." - George Santayana "You can't separate peace from freedom because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom."-Malcolm X I've learnt that bearing grudges achieves nothing. Who's talking about bearing grudges. Pavlov's dog may have beared a grudge but most important he learned his lesson. We (nor you), however, have not. Oh c'mon!?! Your not bearing a grudge! And who says that just because I won't remember him as a butcher, means I am bound to make the mistakes of history? I, as are you, are bound to make the very same mistakes that others have made before us, that's human nature because we are not perfect! This is all totally irrelevent. I hope that peace and tranquility one day reach your region, Avon. I'll leave it at that.

If you are, can you do it in your own privacy? Were you expecting me to fly over to Australia and puke on your front porch? . No, just all over the forums. Sorry Hitler. Sorry Stalin. When I think of some of the things I've said about the dead. But no more. You've given me moral fortitude Avon, give it a rest. I think we all established they were evil men a long time ago. Arafat is not an angel, nor is he in their league when it come's to evilness. Just give it a break. Take it with a pinch of salt that some of us won't remember him as a butcher.

If you are, can you do it in your own privacy? It is not proper to speak ill of the dead, no matter what your feelings & thoughts towards them are. If you can't put the hurt of the past behind you, how can there ever be a recovery in the future?
