    The Cause Campaign

This is the best Arma campaign I've ever played to date, and is much better than the BIS campaign. Too bad it's only five missions. You really did a good job of making the player feel like he was just an average grunt in a much larger conflict and that's why this campaign is so much fun and atmospheric. I Can't wait for chapter two, and hopefully you can stay with your current mission making formula. I just get sick of playing all of those one man army missions that everyone seems to make, where the player has to do all the work. The best part of your campaign is that it doesn't follow that formula and you can literally complete all five missions without firing a shot(with some luck of course), the A.I. will usually get the job done on their own. So, once again good work and bring on chapter two!

FPS decrease the more into play

Yes this is a very annoying bug, but I have found a way around it. Whenever the fps drops hits, usually within half an hour, just disable AA and then set it back to normal. Disabling PP and then turning it back on works too. Also use the flush command every 15 minutes or so. It's definitely a very annoying memory leakage problem and, in my opinion, the biggest bug that BI has yet to fix.

why there still so many bugs in this game

Hey Chuck Norris, why don't you go play some other combat simulator then? I'm telling you that you won't find anything nearly as enjoyable or less buggy than Arma. If you do manage to find one let me know and we can compare the two.

why there still so many bugs in this game

You guys are such assholes, lol. Anyways, defquon we know there are a lot of bugs in this game. Name one other game like this that we can turn too, other than Ofp? That’s right there is no such game, no matter how hard you look. The fact is, were stuck with Arma because there is no competition and we have to deal with it’s problems. The only thing we can do is hope for the day that they will be solved. I fully support BIS and I think they will iron out the bugs eventually. So don’t worry too much.

is it possible to edit official missions?

Yes, you can edit them. All you need is the PBO Decryptor.

    A.I. Skill Settings

I've been editing this section of my ARMAPROFILE: skillFriendly=1.000000; skillEnemy=1.000000; precisionFriendly=1.000000; precisionEnemy=1.000000; I've tried a lot of combinations of settings and I want to know what you guys think is the best and most balanced combination. I want the most realistic settings possible, because I hate it when an enemy fires one bullet into my head from 500 meters. Also, are there any other files or settings I can tweak to make the A.I. more realistic?

    A.I. Skill Settings

Thanks for the replies guys. The A.I. definitely seem to act more realisticly with skill set to 1.000000 and precision set to around 0.400000. I think BIS should have added a precision slider to the difficulty menu. Especially for those who complain about the superhuman A.I., but don't that you can edit it in the profile. Hopefully this option can be included in a future patch, because it would definitely lead to a decrease of posts on how the A.I. is to good.

    A.I. Skill Settings

Well, after a half hour of searching I found a topic on it, but it only listed one combination of settings. Could someone direct me to a topic with more?

    Fatigue

Just so you know when you hold the right mouse button down to zoom in even more it also activates hold breath, so your aim will be very stable for a few seconds then it will be extremely shakey, since you can't hold your breath for long. It's a stupid control problem, so to fix it simply change the hold breath from the default "hold right mouse button" to something else in the control settings menu. Zooming in far should be much more usefull for you now.

  12. I got the U.S. version a week ago and after playing ofp on the pc and OFP Elite on the X-Box I realized something was missing from the squad command menu. There's no option to select team blue, team red, or team green as a whole with the click of a button. For example if I assign 3 AT soldiers in my squad to team blue so they can deal with tanks, there is no way to select team blue all together with one click of the mouse. If I see a tank I don't want to have to select them all(ex. F3, F5, F7) then select engange the tank, I want to select team blue(no need to use F keys) then select engage the tank. This was possible in OFP and Elite making engagments much more fluid. And now that you can command squads bigger than 12 it makes me miss this command even more. So is this feature going to be included in a future patch?

    forceware 94.24 released

I tryed it out and my fps has increased a bit, and the game feels smoother all around. Forests are slightly more playable and my fps in the northern part of the island has increased a lot. So, overall these are pretty good drivers. By the way i'm using a 7800GS.

Difficuly Settings.. What do some mean?

I've been wondering about that too. Anybody have an answer?

    Balancing in ArmA

You guys are forgetting something. Sure helicopters getting shot down very easily is realistic and you got to use more tactics while flying them, but this causes one HUGE problem: The A.I. pilots don't know how to use human tactics. Therefore if an A.I. controlled chopper or jet attacks a group of tanks, they won't survive for more than a minute. There lies the problem and this makes single player missions much more harder, along with making missions with A.I. controlled air support. Even some cut scenes in the U.S. version look retarded because some jet on a bombing run gets shot out of the sky by a T-72!
  16. nate77

Why did BIS remove this feature?

Thanks for the replies guys. But I still think it was much more fluid before. It's annoying to use the spacebar because once you let go the team is de-selected, so there is no way to use number orders, just point and click. The hold shift one is much better but still not as great as the original. But I guess I can just learn to live with it.

    Main balancing

Hunter, i agree with your point about the helicopters and it's the same for jets too. Some missions are extremely hard because of this. I beleive this problem started in 1.06 because no one complained about it before. But I find the tank damage to be pretty good, it could use some minor tweaking but it's fairly solid.
  18. I've completed the campaign, but now I want to unlock all the missions that I missed or didn't do like some of the side-missions. If I use the campaign cheat will it revert my current campaign to the beggining once I quit or will the missions I beat still appear on the list?

    Campaign Ending *Spoilers*

Good, at least I wasn't the only one who didn't understand the ending. I think this was one of the most poorly made missions in the campaign. Hopefully BIS cleans it up a little, and adds a new breifing for the second part of the mission. Because after I found the camp my character switched to some guy who had to drive the hummer and join up with the rest of the men. I think it should have just stayed with the main player. So overall very poorly designed cutscenes and mission to end what was a pretty enjoyable campaign.

    Beta 1.07.5154 feedback thread

Theres a major issue with A.I. controlled helicopters and jets getting shot down too easily by A.I. controlled tanks like the BMP or T-72. They shouldn't be able to take them down so fast, it ruins missions where friendly air support comes in and is supposed to take down enemy armour because it can't stay in the air for more than a minute. This issue needs to be fixed. It's a problem with 1.06 too. MadDogX, you should post this under [/b]Summary of issues in 1.07b, it needs to be looked at.
  21. Well i've tried a combination of many settings, but no matter what I do I get terrible fps when zooming in on a lot of bushes and trees. I have a 7800 GS OC (490/1425) 256 MB card and I usually get around 25-40 fps with resolution at 1024x768 and mostly normal settings, a few things on high/very high, and texture on low(LOD problem if any higher). I'm playing the demo currently and I find that it can be hard to aim because of the terrible framerate when there are a lot of trees and bushes on the screen. It's the worst in the coop mission when zooming in from the hill trying to pick off soldiers and my framerate is down to 14-19 fps. It's still playable, but things get a lot tougher. I've tried almost every combination of settings possible, but nothing seems to work except for puting textures to very low, but thats just ugly. The thing that worries me the most though is that the northern part of the island will be unplayable when I get the full game, because of all the the extra vegitation that I read about. So i'm wondering how much of a differnce is there framerate wise between the north and south, including forests?

Bad FPS Around Trees And Bushes

Found an awsome driver from tweaksrus.com the XTREME-G 158.22 XP 32BIT. This driver is the best for ArmA, overall fps seems down according to FRAPS, but the game runs way smoother. I can now zoom in on forests and huge tree/bush patches and still aim properly. I'm actually shocked. It's weird though when I zoom in FRAPS says my fps is like 12 at some spots with lots of vegitation, but I can still aim really good. That kind of fps with my other driver would have made it impossible to aim. It's the same story in forests too. Some of you guys should really give these drivers a try.

Bad FPS Around Trees And Bushes

lol sorry I'll remember that for the future. Anyways I relaized my graphics card was overheating and therefore slowing down, so I fixed that and it's running much smoother but using the scope on weapons around many trees still drops my fps a bit. Hopefully 1.07 will fix it.

    158.18_forceware_winvista_32bit

You can also use nHancer to edit that setting and much others that the standard NVIDIA control panel doesn't even include.
  25. Well I've been playing around with the new demo trying to solve this for the last month and a bit, and now I think i've found a decent solution. Now this is not a full fix(reason why is because the game doesn't look as good), but turning the texture option to low seems to work. With the old demo(ver. 1.03) there was no fix for this, only turning the textures to very low(extremely ugly), and I pretty much gave up. The new demo(ver. 1.06) had the same problem, but after some testing I realized the textures could be set to low(not that ugly) and there was no more lego textures or any low res pop-ups. Plus the game runs extremly smooth. Now I know the full game is only at version 1.05 so this probably won't work for that until 1.06. The downside to this is the way the game looks with textures set to low, but I can tell you that it definatly looks better then the even lower resolution textures flashing and poping up everywhere. And the block-like wheels and the completely tanned, texture-less soldier models are gone also. I actually got to fully enjoy the demo for the first time today. It's a lot of fun actually playing and not having to worry about graphic problems. NOTE:I have a 7800 GS OC(486/1425) 256 MB AGP card. Make sure your other settings arn't too high or else you still might get problems. Here's my settings: Resolution: 1024x768 Veiw Distance: 1200 Terrain: High Objects: Normal Texture: Low Shading: Normal Postprocessing: High Anisotropic: Very High Shadows: High Antialaising: Normal Blood: High VSYNC Forced Off -maxmem=512(not sure if this matters) (Also in nHancer I have tripple buffering enabled and tex. filtering set to performance) Finallly I'd like to post three other known solutions for this problem that didn't work for me, but might work for you: -Disabling Page File -Tweaking the maxmem line -Increasing AGP Aperture size(AGP cards only, my bios wouldn't allow me to change this but give it a try) Hope this helps a few people out. And remember this isn't a full solution(since we have to play with low textures), we should still pressure BIS to fix this problem. Ooops sort of screwed up the title, slightly shouldn't be there.
