  1. Oh. i missunderstood it then.

I thought you could connect to a "http server" locally on the machine running the arma servers.

Something along the lines as the addon SqfRcon did it.

More admin tools are great & welcomed. But i dont like the idea that i have to go to a 3rd party webpage to view the server info. Imo you should reconsider this approche. but hey. its your addon. im just expressing my opinion on it :)

    Anyhow here is another suggestion.

Be able to show positon of player on current map.

and or select player from a list and view detailed info.

    kills, deaths, ping, etc.

    Edit:

Question. How does your Global Ban List work?

What kind of rules are there for adding/removing bans?

Just asking cos with Bec, admins can sign up and use a global bec ban list.

However. only types of bans allowed to its list are GameHacks and Battleye Hacks.

  2. Some things that poped into my head

    show nr of players

    show local server time

    show server uptime

    show current mission

    show current mod(s)

    show net load

    show server version

    show be version

    show nr of Rcons connected

to be able to use this all you need is my extension (.dll-file) and some authentication-details(Server ID and Server Key. Both i will be giving out)

    this sounds bad tho.

  3. If you dont have 1.604 and need to update. also update the Bec.lib "always do this". many people forget to do this.

I have added a version check on the Bec.lib file. if it doesnt match the exe version it wite out a error and terminate.

I'll uploade 1.605 soon so if you need to update you should wait.

Ps. if a mod is reading. could you move/merge this thread with the Bec thread as its best to keep Bec related stuff in one place. :)

  4. These "proof-of-concept" they make should be kept internal and not shown to the public.

Its like: people see screenshot. and thinks. wow.. look at what they are making and what we will get.

Its not the first time they do this. "its only a poc"

Most of us has seen the screen shot from (pre) alpha. showing off vehicles etc and later they say. we did it only for poc| or used them as place holder.

If they want to show off something. show us what they are really working on. not some POC.

  5. I don't hate Steam I just don't use it. I don't agree with their liscence agreement that's it. I could care less about Steam. I supported BI over the years as best as I could. ArmA 3 to me is an old turd in a new shiny box. It still suffers from things dating back from OFP times I guess.

I don't think of myself as important nor am I entitled. I don't agree with BIS going steam exclusive and I stopped supporting them it's as simple as that.

The community is growing even if there are some oldtimers who dropped out. Life goes on. No regrets whatsoever.

And thanks for acknoleding my right to chose to not support them anymore. They don't need me as a customer there are plenty new players around which will support BIS in the future. So there's no point in argueing over it.

    No pun intended

    cheers

well said. as i would have written it myself :)

  6. A real integrated battle recorder would be cool.

But i dont think we will see any to a3. unless someone make one mod.

Back in Arma2 there was a unit recorder. verry simple one.

I created one myself from scatch a more advanced one.

I could capture the data on 100 AI's if i wanted. and play them back.

I gave up on that idea as i saw the limitations on it.

Altho its fully posible to create a battle recorder mod for small single player missions. with a few units.

But i was interested in a large Warfare recoreder. "a bit optimistic i was " :p (cti/warfare) is/was my type of game.

    Problem 1 was/is. Sqf.

Problem 2 is the abount of data.

You need set/get data like time, position, vecors, animation state, dammage, "force fire/check if fired". (depending on rec or playing). ++

All this gather up to a lot of data. about (general data size per unit) * (Nr of units).

Sqf/Engine is just too slow to handle so much data. unless your happy with 1-2 fps :p

Beside in multiplayer , never mind dont even want to get started on that.

as much as i want a battle recorder in arma3. this is not something i want bis to spend their resources on. there are bugs that should be fixed before adding in new ones :p

  7. Bigpickle

im not Advertising anything. im merly telling about a tool that can be used. do you see me post any links or ads in here ? No!

its two different things to advertise something and refering to a tool by its name..

whats next? cant talk about other things on the internet without advertising it?

maybe i missed it. but i do not see anyone post links to some mods/addons in here. people are showing screenshots etc.

    again. its 2 different things.

    tortuosit nice edit :p

Unpacking a packed exe? Sorry, but your comment is laughable and german Blockwart like.

However, I'd recommend you guys to ask for source code, then study it. Everything else is just based on assumptions and useless.

edit: where did your post go?

Yes you can unpack a packed exe file. read more about it here

this doesnt give you the source tho, but it if an antivirus was triggered because it was packed.

This is a method you can try to see if it triggers on the unpacked exe or not.

And no im not gonna ask for the source. im not interested in looking at it.

I was more interested in, what if it was true that they had implemented a trojan in the launcher aswell to all the other stuff they voilated.

trojans such a keyloggers etc can be used to steal personal info such as kreditcard nr ++ whaterver.

Copyright/Ip/Licensing Voilation is more of a civil case and is time consuming and become costly

While cybercrime becomes a federal/state case and dosent really cost you a penny excepy for what you already paied in taxes :p

Yes its all speculations. You can never trust a AV 100%.

Some of the AV doesnt handle packed pe files verry well. some gives false positives some dont and vs

Also you should not assume that all packed exe files do not have trojans/viruses in them. just because one AV give more false positives then correct ones on packed file.

Altho it seems like they have used an unorthodox method for packing, upx, upack, nspack are well known to most AV, so Q is. do they have something to hide?

Anyway. we are getting a bit offtopic here.

Might be best to leave this discussion about the (false) infection and get back to the copyright/ip license voilation issue and let the drama continue!

  8. Yes most likely it is. but you never know.

You can try and use PE Explorer and open the exe. save it as a new exe and do a comparison.

Though its not quarantined that PE Explorer will be able to unpack it, it has support for nspack, upack, upx, might exist more unpacker plugins for other packers.

  9. Looks like it might be false positives caused by the packer they're using.. Can you upload the launcher and send me the link to the DL in a PM? Is there a official link from A3L of the launcher so I can DL the latest version?

Yes it could be the packer giving false positives.

cant help you with a DL link. try asking cotywinston for one.

Im not touching any stuff that comes from A3l guys. never have, never will.

i myself always use the upx packer. and it never gave me a false positive.

    maybe im lucky, who knows.

  10. Thats some seriouse shit.

What anti-virus did you use to scan with and can other people confirme this?

If it is the case that they have implemented a trojan into their launcher by purpose they are in deep shit since its basiclly cybercrime.

Infecting other computers to gain unauthorized access/collect personal info etc is a seriouse crime!

So if this is true. someone should just report them to the police so they get their computers impounded :)

But this should be verified by others first that there actually is a trojan in the launcher.

It could be as simple as your computer already where infected and the trojan added itself to the lanucher.

I fear that they keep an eye on this thread and will try and remove any evidence of this if its true

So keep a copy of the version of the launcher you got. and verify with others who has the same version.

    EDIT:

    take a look at this.

  11. you can even create your own compiler for the SQF syntax and use it for your own purposes. BI could not sue you for doing this since you did not use any copyrighted content for that.

    Carefull now.

If some part of the language api is patented and you try to make your own implemntation by reverse engineer it or in other ways.

Then you might break some copyright/license and get into trouble.

Just look at the google VS oracle java dispute.

In the case of google vs oracle, oracle won after a appeal. but google filed a cross appeal so i belive this is still a ongoing case.

google is now basing their case on "fair use".

But as i said. Carefull, such claims of yours might not be true in US.

Now in EU its another story.

The europe's top court has desided that the functionality of a computer program and the programming language it is written in cannot be protected by copyright.

  12. You are the owner of the code you make. all copyright/ip is yours.

Though you do not have the ownership of the sqf language.

    http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?184772-Legal-violations-by-A3L-Arma-3-life&p=2812699&viewfull=1#post2812699

They will own the copyright on the script and if they use the tools to create their own texture then they will own the copyright of the texture.

  13. ENTI .

Using models from other games without permission is another story. this does obviously not fall under the "fair use" category.

Copyright/Ip theft is not the same as fair use.

If i where to make a model of car X that is trademarked and i release it for non proffit. i belive this will fall under fair use. correct me if i am wrong here.

But if you want to make proffit from a trademarked car/whatever you need to pay royalties.

As we saw in arma2 bis uses a toyota hilux car, but was named coyota so they didnt have to pay royalties to toyota.

There are so many laws involved here that one needs to be a lawyer to understand them all.

Although there is no excuse for what A3L has done in regards of Copyright/License/Ip infringement & monetization.

  14. Polymath820

    I did.

Question is. Are there any legal action that can be taken in this matter. Just woundering since this might fall into "fair use".

They might not even be interested in pursuing individuals since there little money to get there.

This also means that you have to take same action against. "c3l and other mods." since they are also using vehicles that are trademarked.

  15. ... And are you, in the name of God, going to give us the better military authenticy with integration of women or not ?

Bis attitude regarding female is that they belong in the kitchen and not in the military.

Gender or Sex would be a better parameter.

    Sex = 0; // Man

    Sex = 1; // Woman

    Sex = 2; // Transvestite ;p

But seriously.. dont think we will see this. Bis has its recources streched as is.
