I don't want to get anyone upset but honestly I don't want to see the developers trying to make this game compatible for older system configurations like the p3 someone mentioned. Â Most of the gaming community should be past that stage, and it seems like a waste to try to support systems that old. Â I'm sorry if you don't have a system newer then 3 years, but the PC is about upgrading and adapting, if you don't want to or can't fork out the money for upgrades now and then please go back to a console system. On another subject, JIP is one of the things that really put BF1942 in the spotlight when it came out. Â Some other games had it but BF just made it seem easy. Â Also BF just threw you right into the action, maps were so small you collided with the enemy around every corner. I think this had a big appeal to thrill seekers. Â But how annoying is it to fly a jet in BF2 in constant circles because the map is so tiny. Â In OFP it can take a really long time to get around from place to place, but as is in RL and war is not always endless shooting kill sprees. Â It'll be different things for different people I suppose, I like the realism OFP and AA will offer over the arcadish BF. But more of a community following will be great too. Â Look at JO the online player base is minimal now, it was no OFP but was a hell of a lot better then BF.
LOL funny story I picked up Advanced Battlegrounds in the bargain bin for a few bucks, never had really herd of it but it looked kind of like PlanetSide without the persistant world so I loaded it up and logged into the server list. There was 2 servers, one was empty and one server had 2 people on it, and that was it. I asked one of the pep playing on the server where everyone was and he said they all moved onto FarCry. Â

The sound in OFP always got me confused, I could never tell where the hell a shot was comming from.Of course you can. You have to switch your windows sound settings to headphones or 2 speakers, because OFP does not support 5.1 Speakers. If i play with 5.1 settings, i have the same problem.... *g*
I play OFP with headphone speaker settings, so i can locate every positions. Â

That did help out some, JO still had better sound quality for weapons IMO but it was a lot newer then OFP, so I'm sure AA will be as good or better.
Goeth[kyllikki], I'm back playing OFP actually after all these years. It is amazing how well the quality of the game has held up in that time. Runs a lot better too with the new computer hardware

I can now run it in 1600 x 1200 * 32 with max quality, high texture (not very high for some reason) almost 3k vis and using the new dx dll, and averages about 32 FPS. Not bad, but there is some weird things in the engine that are hopefully fixed, like shadows thru hills and sun aura's through hills.

I don't see tall grass in these SS but have seen it other SS of AA. Anyone who played Joint Operations knows that using tall grass for stealth while prone is pretty important, especially for snipers. The only thing is that some engine would allow you to turn off the effect of grass in the video settings, this understandable for those with low system specs or wanting more performance. However if the grass effect is turned off it should not take away the concealment effect offered. This was done pretty good in JO, if the grass effect is turned off it pretty much made those using the grass as cover nearly invisible (but not completely), it was actually easier to spot a person moving prone in the grass if you had the effect turned on as you could see the grass move.

What about SUDS, missiles and Patriot systems? That would be cool.

Knifes I can see in the game. But jumping I cring at. One of the most annoying things I found in BF2 was people bunny hopping. It completely ruined what little realism was in the game for me. They would bunny hope and guess what, most of freaking time it would work for them to get away while I unloaded round after round at them. This was really just BS in my opinion. If jumping is allowed then I don't want it to allow them to have a greater chance of not being hit by reducing their body hit area, that is just gay.
However I am extremely happy to see the screen shots of real grass in AA. This means we can go prone in tall grass and use it for stealth as in JO. Using the follage and grass in JO for stealth was one of my favorite parts of that game.

For those who may need an glossry of military weapon acronyms:
http://www.aeronautics.ru/archive....ary.htm
It's not a complete list but a good start.
The DU round has been found to still leave a radioactive dust cloud along the tragectory and where it impacts. Some have claimed this is one of the causes for some cases of GWS but it is unconfirmed. Care should still be taken when handling DU munitions. This is simply from articles I have read on the subject while prepairing a merc 2000 rpg revamp for my saturday night games. But hey like shinRaiden said it's probably nothing to worry about unless you expose yourself to it too much. It's kind of like the paranoid skin cancer hoopah people yell about if you stay out in the sun too much.
Ya there is a chance, and ya cases have been made, but probability is slim.

Quote[/b] ]These are not VBS forums, VBS topics are not to be discussed here.Sorry dude, can we not at least speculate about it?

The sound in OFP always got me confused, I could never tell where the hell a shot was comming from. I sure hope that is fixed in AA. I liked Joint Operations little radar indicator that showed the direction and proximity range of enemy shots. But even without the shot radar in JO I got use to telling shot direction and approximate distance. Hell I even learned to tell what kind of weapon it was from the sound it made, this I think is huge skill warriors and virtual warriors need to learn.

I would like to see artillery in the game. But I noticed that for VSB1 it was the most expensive addon, $180.00 US and the core engine was only $140.00 US. So I wonder what kind of reasoning is behind this and if that will factor into the choice of BI adding it to AA or not.
But what about the bunnies? Will they at least add the animal pack? A $50.00 US value? LOL.

I mainly played OFP via LAN parties, and via that type of connection it was ok, Internet MP was a nightmare. Increadibly difficult to get into a game, and game usually lagged so bad couldn't hit anything. But I've also noticed some BF2 games also lag just as bad. JO lagged too with like 150 players but wasn't as unplayble as the others. I'm sure BIS has done some refinement to their network code for AA...You have, right, BIS?
I hope they add Assault and Advance type missions like JO, and not Conquest like in BF2. Where you have to take bases that are closes to each other to advance instead of being able to just ninja around to the back of enemy lines and back ninja a base, that is annoying in BF2, but where it would be worste in AA because the maps will be so much larger.
