  1. lorengauE.jpg A small teaser pack of Blue Skies II is on it's way. This is the story:

    Martin King is the local editor of a small Tonali newspaper named The Lorengau Evangelist. When the small but dirty civil war errupts on the Tonal islands, the president postpones the autumn elections. Martin King's job is to write reports from the small villages in the Lorengau Valley.

    The Lorengau Evangelist's supports the political oposition and demands that the canceled elections must be held. Thus Martin King finds himself in a dilemma. As an editor, he must argue for democracy. But his family, friends and neighbours are all plantation workers. They remain loyal to the armed guerilla forces and want him to take part in the brushfire revolution.

    As a player, you will have to make that choice for him.

    Meanwhile, there's a discussion thread about the unfinished single missions, that will form the backbone of Blue Skies II at Ofpec. Any help with the details of the story is welcome.


  2. Maybe this was fixed already, but the problem of "not being healed" at missionstart is most likely connected to a scripting error involving the saveStatus command.

    If unit status is saved twice in separate missions, the OFP Campaign function cannot handle the command properly. You need to delete the old saved status, using deleteStatus, before saving it again.

    Scroll down to the bottom of page 3 and you'll find a simple solution to this problem.

    I liked the athmosphere of your campaign, unfortunately it was unplayable on my slow computer. Too much lag, but I still liked what I saw.


  3. The missing addon groups was common a few years ago. You have loaded an addon with an erroneous config somewhere. Are you using any UCE addons? Or JJR addons? They have been known to have this problem from time to time.

    Yes I can do it again. But I'm not planning any more releases before Armed Assault. I don't know if Ofp-missions are going to work in AA and I don't want to work with something that has do be remade from scratch when BIS releases the new game.

    Blue Skies II is already planned, though. The story will be about a young Tonalese freedom fighter and his familly, who takes part in demonstrations against the Tonalese government. Their goal is to overthrow the American supported government with democratic means. The outro of the current campaign will be the intro to the next part. I'm not going to give you any more information. That would be too much of a spoiler.

    Joseph Conrad has a small part in the story too, but he's not the main character any more.

    While waiting for Armed Assault I'm making missions for the Swedish Forces Pack (SFP4).

    No, seriously... since you carry over score from previous missions, your negative score might make you a "renegade" if you blow up to many inocent boxes, empty apc:s and so on. I'd guess you shot some civies before, right?

    Or maybe you accidentally killed one of your own men with the satchel???

    I tried to recreate your problem, but was unable to achieve that effect without hurting civilians in the beginning of the mission, or killing my own men.

    No, they're supposed to go straight to the vehicle. But rememmber that they are OFP AI smile_o.gif

    I tried to stop them from running around in circles by heavy scripting. But their behaviour depends on player actions as well as scripted waypoints. In playtesting they behaved like that 1 time out of 10. It's the best ratio I can get with my rather limited scripting skills.


  8. About ending missions...

    The campaign mainly consists of two series of missions: Operation Sentinel I-III and Operation Nightstalker I-III. They are divided in three parts each (for a total of six), but are really just two very long missions. Since I'm using the campaign mode to separate them (for lag reasons) you will have the same briefing several times. There is no debrefing between them and I tried to create the cuts between the missions so it would not confuse the player when the map/notebook/briefing suddenly appears "in-game" with a list of objectives ticked off. Hopefully this idea works without causing too much confusion tounge2.gif

    If you are refering to the end of Operation Sentinel I, all you need to do is watch the troops by the trucks in your binocular and right click on them. When they are registered as detected, there will be a cutscene and the action continues.

    If you are facing this problem in Operation Sentinel II you must fix the broken radio before you can proceed. Once this is done there should be a short cutscene (a dialogue between conrad and Joker) and then the action starts. Did you fix the radio like Joker asked you to in the beginning of the mission?


  10. I´ve never encountered hmr2 and keg problems myself, but it seems to me you are using different (probably older) versions of the addons than I do.

    I only use the BIS hummer that came with resistance. Keg-errors are most likely connected to Kegetys editorupdate. I use GB's version (link in first post).

    Make sure you are using the latest version of the required BAS addons. This problem was mentioned a few posts up. See if the solution I gave then will help you.


  11. I'm playing it wit the same settings as macguba (1.96 and latest ECP) and was stuck for a week. Black Bear is unable to destroy the tank and the resistance was forced to retreat 17-18 times, before I found the solution.

    If you don´t want to use the endmission cheat, wait until Black Bear is defeated (they will be eventually), grab the AT-rifle and take the tank out your self.


  12. The missions are not to difficult for me (I'm such a bad player) and I really enjoy what I've seen so far. For once, I've no feeling of frustration when I get killed and I'm just eager to try again.

    The BAS addons are really the best units in terms of balance between detail textures and fps. They look good enough but dont lag as others.

    Thank you very much. I'm probably the worst player in OFP history, because I hardly play anymore (I just make missions). That's why I made the missions quite simple. I hate to use the end mission cheat and I decided to make a campaign where this wasn't necessary. I pickedthe BAS addons for the reasons you've mentioned. I prefer them to Lasers units. Also BAS gives me everything I need in a few downloads. There's bound to be a bug or two in the campaign, but I'm glad you liked it so far.


  13. I've played it with ECP and it works for me. But ECP tend to disrupt some cutscenes and intros (the ai units are constantly talking or sitting down when they're supposed to stand up etc).

    You play Joseph Conrad, US Army Ranger, away from active duty for one year due to studies at MIT. The rangers are kept on the islands as a fast reaction force and you are assigned to the 2nd Bn's Company C, team Charlie. Your task will be maintenance of the satellite field radio, advanced optics and operation of the portable laser designator.

    This campaign focuses on large scale battles, short fierce firefights in unusual environments as well as the every day life of the soldiers in Company C, team Charlie.

  16. How do you "export" your mission? Most likely, you are using the built in function "Export to multiplayer missions", right?

    And  you have exported the same mission file several times, but it doesn't seem to update when you export a second time?!?

    Well it doesn't. OFP engine bug/feature. That's life smile_o.gif

    You need to delete the first pbo from MP missions, before you can export the entire mission folder again (and thus make a new pbo).

    Hmm... I intended to remove that download mirror completely, since it's only a BETA. Final version should be ready within a couple of weeks and then I'll release it with better download support. But OK then... I'll just leave it at rapidshare if more people want to play around with it the way it is. Thank's for producing and marketing this wonderful game biggrin_o.gif
