With Armed Assault it was possible to fire your own PC up as a dedicated server with the server.exe (or whatever it was called), then start the game normally and join your own server. Thus it was possible to test publicVariables and such with only one computer. It required some tweaking of the server config that I cannot remember, but surely someone else in this forum knows how it was done. I haven't gotten that far with ArmA2. I'm still busy studying sqf-scripting an new commands from the comref.

If you 'host' the game from the computer you are playing on, then you also act as the server in the network. Hence: Your settings should apply to everyone else. Or did I misunderstand your setup?!?

I've been puzzled about the same thing. Thanks for the solution. Will try it as soon as possible. -
[SP/COOP1-7]Dungeon & Dragon - BETA
nominesine replied to nominesine's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
A more stable download link added: http://www.ofpec.com/forum/index.php?topic=33716.0 First post updated as well. Sorry for any inconvenience it may have caused. -
Not only is Laggy banned for violating the forums rules (quite flagranttly if you ask me). He's also in Paris, celebrating his girlfriends 30th birthday. I can answer some questions for him, since I've been beta-testing the mission with him while he was building it. Bear in mind though, that I am not the mission designer. Only his guinnea pig :p A lot of the answers sought in this thread has already been answered by Laggy in the Ofpec-forum. Among them a lenhthy discussion concerning endtriggers that do not fire. EDIT: Spelling

Vehicle problems on LHD
nominesine replied to will556's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Or use this setposASL [getposASL this select 0, getposASL this select 1, 9.2] to place the vehicle in the main cargo hold below deck. -
The end trigger requires all surviving team members to return to base together. Did you leave any members behind during your cross country travelling?

Why do helo inserstion, and extraction have to be so tough?
nominesine replied to GunnDawg09's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Getting choppers to do what hey should has been an issue since OFP days. There are numerous solutions to the problems. Wich one you prefer is mostly a matter of preference. I use a method with script/triggers that suits my needs. You can see it in action in this scenario: http://www.ofpec.com/forum/index.php?topic=33716.0 -
waypoints. how do i make AI stick to the roads?
nominesine replied to okarr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
ArmA2 comes with a handy command called isOnRoad. It can be used to see if your vehicle has strayed away from your prefered path. If it does so, you can set it's behaviour to "SAFE" again, and it should trail back on course. Head over to Ofpec if you need help with the command. -
Question about TRANSPORT UNLOAD
nominesine replied to GunnDawg09's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
To forcefully eject someone from a helicopter use the following code: unitName action ["EJECT", chopperName] -
Judging from what I've seen of Dragon Rising I would guess: Codemasters want's something in-between niche and mainstream. Never a good idea in my opinion. It's better to decide from start wich leg you want to stand on. Placing both feet firmly on the ground is a stable approach, but it doesn't take you very far. ;)

ArmA2 1.03 Impressions - ALL Impressions/Videos/Screenies Here
nominesine replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I've been playing this game for two weeks now. I was pleased from start and am even more so no. ArmA2 is what I always wanted OFP to be back in the good old days. I play on a low end system and just love it. Now I can finally make the missions the way I want them to be. No addons required :) I made a teaser video for an upcoming release, due for Beta test within a few days: . Enjoy! -
Does any one know how to create the bow splash in front of the LHD, as seen in the Utes intro? Or can someone show me to a working script with the same effect? If possible I would also want to create a wake behind the ship.

Create bow splash/wake
nominesine replied to nominesine's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
:o Ehrm... okay... I see your point now *quietly hides under table * I still want to create a bowspalsh/wake effect. Guess I'll have to do some research on particle effects *returns to Ofpec with high hopes* -
Create bow splash/wake
nominesine replied to nominesine's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
What? Am I the only one that can see the particle effect in front of the ships bow in the Utes intro? The one that shows as part of your GUI upon game start?!? It looks as if the ship is moving, even though it's a static object. Great for cutscenes. Nevermind. I would dePbo Utes if I was at home. Unfortunately I am presently trapped in my Macintosh infested office, without ArmA access. I was wondering if anyone could point me to a similar script, so I can study it and learn from it. I'm a bit lazy though, and would rather not delve too deep into the creation of particle effects if I can avoid it. -
I like them. Watching them fail and then outsmarting them makes me feel superior. There are always two sides to every coin

Maybe I'm biased, working for a publishing company and all :o Albeit it's in the books/paper business. But nevertheless... I think it's a common misconception that publishers only hoaxes money out of honest developers, who would be much better off on their own. My point was simply: A good publisher adds something to the product before it is released. In my opinion Codemasters did just that to Operation Flashpoint. I do not know why Codemasters and BIS decided to go separate ways. Nor do I wan't to delve deeper into their respective causes. I'm just sad they did. Opinions tend to be divided on the matter though - as usual. ;)

Setting AI position in vehicle
nominesine replied to emergency_pants's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Nevertheless a vast improvement in my opinion. I always keep a notebook and paper close when I play as a squad leader. Memorizing what keys I have to press to order quick boarding/disembark is a crucial part of being a leader. -
I would put it this way instead: OFP became a mainstream game, even though it wasn't supposed to be one. Codemasters managed to give the game excellent publicity. I probably wouldn't have noticed it if they hadn't achieved that.

[Must see] The My missions... facility within ArmaII
nominesine replied to alx's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Maybe I am imagining things but... wasn't the Wizard always in the game?!? I've never even touched OFP:Elite. I'm quite sure there was a Wizard before Armed Assault though. -
Being a former Ford Transit -75 owner as well as an avid UAZ driver I can only say: :bounce3:
