  2. thanks for the replies. the shown model currently is the hipoly model, so all of it is hard geometry, no displacements or bumps whatsoever some parts, like the weldings seams, have been sculpted. the handgrip is sculpted aswell, then cut with booleans. its a pretty brute-force approach and i definately could add that detail with bump or displacement maps into the hipoly or add it later on in the normal, but i just want to see how far i can push my workstation oh well... the ak is somewhat old by now... 2 years or so, my skills got better, so that model is pretty redundant :P dunno. maybe i can get someone to get it ingame and finish it off. what do you mean by hatching? well it sounds like it would work but, doesnt seem too efficient. specially since the o-s-normal could feck up the tangent if casted badly :P i c that you folks still have problems with those hard edges ? ive discussed this with dasquade a while back. people make the mistake to set hard edges in oxygen/other apps. you should drop this entirely! set the whole object to smooth /one smoothing group. this will ensure that the baked normal map from a hi poly model, will be rendered correctly on the low poly. baking the normal map with hard edges in the low poly will give you wrong results and artifacts, which will just look bad. hope thats what youre asking for :P if not.. blame it onthe coffee.. it was bad today :P

    asymetric balance? hm no but i know asymetric warfare. srsly. the su34 fits perfectly well into arma. geez even bf2 had one and it was really crap, especially since the maps where so small you basically had to fly circles all the time, just to avoid being killed by the level boundaries...
  9. instead of fanboy-ish approval something more constructive: the spec doesnt really seem to come through too well. it overall appears very flat. try to boost it up a bit. the diffuse texture looks VERY noisy, like its been a dirt layer applied over the top. it looks way too uniform in term of dirt. eg the area around the exhaust should be dirtier, whereas blank parts should be cleaner etc etc. the colors also vary very much cause of the dirt, especially seen on the radardome. it would be better if youd add that "dirt" into the spec map and make the dirt in the diffuse way more subtle.

  11. to add a little niggle the tire patterns on the game version dont match the ones of the RL one nice work
  12. slight color variations of the parts might be nice, as well as the top part being sun bleached, which can be achieved pretty easily through some baking. apart from that.. nice work! save other detail work for the spec map.

    @messiah. the uksf SFW doesnt use the M203 nor its diemaco version. they use the HK AG-C /L17A1, which in basic is an railmounted ag36. theres more than just the barrel different und brit SFW. eg reinforced frontsight, old stock, and other things. the flashider is the bog standart birdcage and yea im still on track with them

    have i written somethin about midair and time dependand things?? also you can get out in midair in ofp..... even the ai can. anyway since my scripting got rusty ill explain this in simple words. spawn drowpod spawn soldier(if necessary) place soldier in drop pod #heightcheck is my height 0 ? no? goto "heightcheck" yes? goto "disembark" #disembark (make a delay if you dont want them to come out immeditely) ~2 soldier unassignVehicle droppod. eventually you might want to add a velocity vector just before the landing since the falling pod would most propably crash without giving it a little brake.

Maybe some videos could change peoples opinions... :) you know, when vbs1 was released, people were running around with wet willies drooling over the fact what was possible and how vbs1 looked better compared to ofp and everyone was enraged about that BIS doesnt release stuff from vbs1 for ofp. its the same with vbs2. theres a ton of things possible in vbs2 that isnt in arma (per se) and people drool(ed) over it over and over again and complain why BIS doesnt implement it in arma.. so you see, vbs is not about looks, but rather about what is possible, eg fully working drones, fully working ac-130, mission rehearsal, etc etc. its not like people train with it 24/7 and then go straight to war. some RL training will always be needed. if you come from that direction you could also argue with mipmapping occluding people in an unrealistic way, or LOD´s or distance fog etc etc etc. no one said vbs1/2 is ultra realistic in any terms, its a training tool for certain tasks to cut down costs. eg why spend cash on rounds and gallons of fuel for basic convoy training or helicopter load operations, when you can also do this with VBS? in the end you still need to do some drill in RL, but in the meantime you can master the basic procedure in the simulator. its exactly the same with flight simulators. you learn when to push which button in what situation. i guess if youd do it wrong in RL you might end up as a pancake on the ground. And do these simulator look real? geez some of them have worse graphics than acecombat 1, but they do their job. <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">It's not like ArmA's shaders are that realistic though. In all honesty, i dont think the guys who are trained/train by/with VBS2 care about the graphics, but rather how to keep their heads down and learn the drills, before they get their arse kicked and flown back home in a coffin. some people need to get their head outta their ass and realize that VBS2 isnt meant for the broad public, which also reflects in the prize, which for my 2 cent, is absolutaly correct and serves its main purpose, which is (at least on my twisted mind): keeping the friggen whiny kids outta there.. you can already see this with the reactions of some poeple here: man why doesnt arma have this and that bla bla... BIS and BIA are 2 different companie´s working for different customers, and i´m pretty sure that NONE of BIA´s clients want sensetive training material in the hands of some kids or whoever elses. nice.. now im´m reinstalling VBS and playing some bit, just for shit and jiggles!

    looks good mate you could add some more grime and mud and dirt to the lower part of the bmd. the launcher looks quite.. hm pop? is it yellow in rl? guess that color would contradict camouflaging a bit :P
