VoIP and DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD
noccie replied to Vernon's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Used to have this problem with my Audigy 1, disabling both HW acceleration and EAX solved it for me though..haven't run into a single crash since then. -
Is there a game going today? Tried to join at 2100 CET ,but ArmA can't seem to find any CIA server
-
U know me as Stany ingame..the quiet and usually dead guy Been using that name since ofp so figured id keep it for all BIS games
-
I seem to be getting more BSOD's with 1.09 then 1.08 gave me..the CTD's from 1.08 are gone though. Every BSOD up till now has listed a HA10K2KX.sys error.Google doesnt seem to find any hits relating to it..but HA10K does provide hits about audigy cards/creative. Which could be correct as i have an audigy 1. note : i have hardware acceleration OFF as mentioned in a thread somewhere ; but EAX is still on. Will try running without EAX and report back if the BSOD's disappear.

hehe ,never knew that headon crash in the last pic caused so many deaths, CTD hit me before i even saw the explosion. BTW, will there be a coopnight tuesday or is everyone out getting drunk on newyears day?

Here's hoping the password gets released at 00.00 hours on friday and not in the afternoon or evening. So we only have to wait 24more hours

hmmm, i'm puzzled now. Reloaded the map and tried to walk inside the buildings again but it did'nt work. The doors and windows also look normal now, last time they seemed to hover about 2cm from the main texture. So i guess it was a false alert and a one time bug, Sorry. Here's a pic of the buildings anyway, just incase. http://www.neuvostoliitto.org/nakki/overview.JPG

lovely map, especially considering this is still a beta version. A few things i noticed that could make it more "real" ,hope they haven't been mentioned earlier. -water towers aren't placed at high points, i would expect to see one on the nearby hill and maybe one more towards the middle of the city on higher ground. -can't be sure by looking at the google map ,but many Saudi towns have fountains at squares/roundabouts along the road. Was something i missed while driving through this town, especially with so many empty circles along the roads. -There was one row of non-enterable buildings where u could walk inside and still hit targets outside it. Not a big point, but it will be exploited in multiplayer so it would be great if such buildings don't make it into the final version. (I'm praying for people to make u new buildings to use on this lovely map ) -And lastly the roads, If u could add a layer of dust/sand to the sides by retexturing them a bit it would give it a much deeper desert feeling. (or even have less used roads be more covered in dust and the main roads only at the sides) Have no idea if this is possible but it's just an idea i had while driving. Performance was really good with editor loading the map in ~5 seconds and preview comming up quickly too, everything running at a solid FPS. Only an occasional glitch where it would take a long time(several minutes) for the menu to appear after pressing escape..but doubt that's fixable with a 175Mb file. Good luck with the map and I'm looking forward to the end result!

i found proof that our ArmA UAZ is undermoddeld 10man UAZ

banning is COMPLETELY useless in arma. If u know "they" can : -generate Id's on the fly -know how to translate a CD-key into an ID , and visa versa -can use your ID to get u banned on unknowing servers -know an exploit in Gamespy so they can connect without any valid Id anyway This info is kept among their in crowd and spread as they see fit, depending on how much havoc they want to see. (Except the gamespy one i can imagine..since if it's used too much gamespy might actually sue or at least plug the bug) So sadly banning is as useful as digging a hole to bury yourselves in.

Superb! After having played alot of IL2 1946 between ofp and ArmA , i ended up being really disappointed with ArmA's flightmodel. Mainly with the lack of true ruddereffects like has been pointed out here. I Though of replying earlier in this thread but the only thing i could have suggested was that IL2 most likely has a decent flightmodel as it lives purely on that aspect. (and many RL pilots seem to fly it at fe. warbirdsofprey ) And if u compare our Camel to similar WW1 planes in IL2 the difference is glaringly obvious. But fear of being ridiculed for suggesting that Suma have a look at IL2(a game ..what has that do do with real physics ) kept me from posting Really looking forward to the next patch now, so a big thanks to HailStorm , Suma and everyone who voted for the bug in the bugtracker. If the changes he makes affect helicopters in a positive way too it will be a complete hit as far as im concerned

Pleeaaaase also model the town of Karratha. Lived there for 2 and a half years and would love to make a mission there. :P It's a tiny town that mainly lives of iron ore and gas ,either shipping it by rail or by tanker, so dont forget to make the ground all red/brownish http://maps.google.be/maps?f=....nk&cd=1

Placebo once posted BIS-policy on cheating in ArmA then locked any thread that dared touch the subject. Policy was basically : We will deal with it when the cheats come out, no need to worry about this now as no cheats exist. So now is the time to start working on it BIS..cheats are out and about, thus now u can prove that your wait and see policy actually consists of more than just words. Wouldnt want to see ArmA turn into a 2nd ofp regarding cheats. It ended in only private coop servers being worth playing and lots of players (bout 40% by end 2004 when T*C got upto speed)leaving ofp behind thanks to it. Your unique addon keys dont help too much when everything can be edited on the fly in the memory and no punkbuster like program scans for memory anomalies

Cannot register unknown string STR_MSG_PLAYERID_EMPTY Cannot register unknown string STR_MSG_PLAYERID_INVALID If this means what i think it does, im happy he can't play online -
Had some fun games yesterday, though i should say sorry for disconnecting on the last mission..I was the Chinook pilot, but my ISP decided to reset my connection just as the map loaded. Hope it didnt take too long to shoot my AI and take over the chopper About the human pwning. I dont really mind it that much. I find human's having to aim and shoot themselves more fun then using a binoc and ordering your AI to kill someone from 600m away. Used it in the same mission where Jinef's AI shot rabbit. My squad flanked the town from the right and i spotted Dynx on a hillwith 2 of his AI. He was out of normall drawing distance, but when i used binocs i could just see him. Ordered my AI to shoot and sure enough both the rifleman and machinegunner openend up and killed Dynx's whole squad in a few shots. Having to close in till i had a decent visual and a chance of hitting him myself would have been alot more exciting..but i wanted to try out the AI pwnzoring u all advocate, and it was rather disappointing to me. No skill from my side involved whatsoever, simply zoom in and click ,the AI does the rest from insane ranges.

I really like this island, it feels like a real middle east map. Think this is mostly thanks to the straight, neverending roads into nowhere (Just like most desertcountries build them) and the large landmass (It was fun entereing the bridged island to the East ,thinking it was small . But finding out that it actually took quite some time to cross) But i have some small remarks which could improve the island in the next version. First the land is sometimes too flat. Both parts of the desert, the greener centre and the mountain plateau's feel like they were flattened by steamrollers till u could play biljart on them. A little bit of elevation changes (just 0.5-1m) would make it feel much more natural and alive. There are parts on your island where this is done to great effect, so i know u can do it (even if those parts look flat on a sattelite photo..they are never completely flat in real life) Secondly the salt pans look wrong. The layout is done fine ,but the salt itself isnt right. The pans closest to the sea are usually full of seawater and pumped to the next basin when they are partly evaporated. This is repeated till it reaches the last basin where it is left to totally dry out. So the water in the 2nd and 3rd last basins usually is more of a white salty sludge and it wont dry in hills like on your map. Here are 2 pics to illustrate how it usually looks: http://i.photos.mwg.com/photos/i/f/f1105441227.jpg (this picture shows a partly dried out salt pan ..probably in the 2nd last or last basin) http://www.btinternet.com/~roger.sleigh/images/full_size/saltpan.jpg (this picture shows how the last pan looks when it is completely dried out, just before it gets "harvested") I'm also not sure about the mine in the South. Is it really that shallow in real life? Think it would look nicer if it was a bit deeper, with 3 verry steep edges and a winding dirt road down to the bottom at the front. Lastly the hangars u have used do create some lag when u get too close . This is mainly noticeable at the large compound in the center where my FPS went from 35 down to 12. (A64 3500+ /2gb ram/X1800XL) I cant imagine having 30players and some AI in that zone without severe FPS and serverlag, but this has allready been covered in previous posts. All in all a verry nice island and im sure the Final version will be even better

Ok ,firefox works when i disable my scriptblocker..else i get an error saying that the protocol (dnn) isnt associated with any program. Maybe it's a good idea to post about your competition on the LFS main forums Crashdome. A free license should attrack lots of interest and give your site lots of extra traffic. (unless u want to hold this comp for ofp fans only?) And I hope to see u on the E-racing S2 server someday Espectro ,so u will see we all race for fun and noone gets flamed for (alledgedly) causing a crash. As i can testify, having caused quite a few crashes myself
-
CrashDome , Your website seems to be incompatible with Firefox. I tried registering but firefox gives an error when i click "register" With IE everything works fine, but mabe u could look into this as many people use FF these days.

Deano and Espectro, E-racing will hold a 35Lap GTR race on fern gold this evening. Everyone is welcome to join in, as long as they can behave like an adult and race cleanly Warmup starts at 20.00GMT and the actual race starts at 21.00GMT I recorded the first 7 laps of yesterday's tune-up race to give u an idea of the fun we had. http://noccy.piraatti.info/GTR's@Fern.wmv (48Mb ,8minutes)

It was good seeing a ful demoserver again , 2nd day in a row. Pity i had to go afk often to assure the household peace, but i saw u guys had some clean and close racing. Blackjack , im not sure why u kept losing connection. U should try pressing shift-F8 while on a server and see what the network debug says ,then post it on the LFS technical help forums. Also check your latencybars as that should tell u if its u lagging or if its down to other players ( http://manual.liveforspeed.net/wiki/Display#Latency.2FLag_bars ) Maybe u are using wireless or your ISP has a faulty switch somewhere, as normally u should be able to play smoothly as long as your ping isnt above 300 (even on dial-up). And check with pingplotter if your line has packetloss or high latencies and if that is the case try contacting your ISP (or if u have wireless try connecting through a cable) because LFS isnt too tolerant of lost packages

somehow doubleposted..sorry

What would u guys think of getting together on the demo Wednesday evening ,somewhere round 8GMT? So we can all have some fun with a large grid
-
here is a little clip i made of the mess we made last night. 1 race in the UFR's from the start till the 3rd corner ,viewed from Anaconda's car http://noccy.piraatti.info/UFR_Mayhem.bik its in bink format ,so u might need radtools to play it (have no clue how to edit files so they have a decent size ,so I have to use bink for now) Brataccas ,did u race with us under a differnet name last night or did u guys play seperate? If there were 2servers with 6players on it, woudnt it be alot more fun if we were all together on 1server with 12(or more) cars? Feel it would be a pity if we were all racing apart.
