  1. What the #### is this password fad. Every second server

    is password protected.

As if it wasn't enough that you can waste an entire evening trying to play at least one good mp-game.

God knows the hours spent waiting for some turds to leave the pool

    - or waiting for a game to end only to watch everybody go "gg" and then leave

    - or having one lousy hpb with a 486 and 12k modem spoil the whole game

    - or being surrounded by soldiers running on the spot due to some mysterious timewarp in the game

    - or once again going through the "finally-we-can-play-but-once-in-the-game-some-chopper-crashes-for-no-reason" blues...

-or having to listen to some excommunicado argue with his old clan who's the biggest a**hole

-or being shot in the back by a team-member

-or wasting a good ctf because some d**khead ran off with the flag and joined the foreign legion. What's the fun in that I ask?

-or screaming at some 12 year old who parked his t80 in the respawn zone and is happily killing everyone as they respawn. WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY???

...but now I'm even deprived of all those wonderful experiences.

To all you morons with passwords. Give it up. There aren't enough decent servers out there for you to be all high and mighty and "ooh-our-cool-clan-has-to-train" or "we-only-play-with-other-people-from-the-same-country" or whatever the f**k reason you have.

Whop-de-doo....then I found a server, only to learn they only had maps that served a max. of 12 players, and of course there were 15 other poor fools like myself in the pool. GET MORE MAPS YOU LOWLIFE PUNKS at ngi.it !!

Lordy, then I found another server, but this only had huge 2_800 co-op missions with childish attempts to stuff all the fu**ing hardware they could find into a small battlefield. What gives?

Thank you lord, I found another. Even in my own country. I logged on anticipating a game. But lo and behold, two morons had joined the server and then left for a night on the town, leaving me staring at their ghost names in the pool, waiting in vain for more to join so we could boot the bastards...but that never happened.

I only want to play this game, which is so fun, is that too much to ask?

MP is great under the right circumstances, and once you finish the campaigns, MP is the thing.

    I want it...

    sooo bad

    AAAAAAAAAAARGHHH.

    sigh!

you need to target it, it is very precise and effective...<span id='postcolor'>

But I do target it...hmmm....What am I missing....

Have you tested the range of it?

    oooh...and what is the ammo-designation?

    I tried

"this addmagazinecargo ["Javelin",1]" but that crashed

    the game....

back to the beloved mission editor for more practise

  3. A couple of questions for Kegetys "Javelin" AT-weapon:

Aside from the "wtf"'s of the first couple of times I fired it (not enough levitation for the missile to get off ground, result: missile hits ground in front of me...I die),

I have been wondering if it is as imprecise as it seems. It appears to miss the target by a couple of yards all the time. I suppose it's modelled after the AAlauncher, which also couldn't hit a barn from the inside. Or is it me?

The russian HeavyAT is great on the other hand. Takes out an Abrams with one hit, and then some...

And the civilian "bomber"-Cessna is such a gem. So thanx for that Kegety.

When will you add wound's to the Arctic soldiers???

    I need to see blood...

Yep, the exact init code would be this:

clearWeaponCargo this; clearMagazineCargo this; this addMagazineCargo ["pipebomb",1]

Remember to always use the "cargo" commands for weapons crates, to avoid any odd game behavior.

This did it for me, thank you PlaneShifter. The 'removeallweapons' command does not work with ammocrates, believe me I've tried it...

Now I have just the right amount of explosives, to make it more realistic. Adds tension to the situation when there's only one chance of blowing up that enemy vehicle....

so should i consider it more of a war simulation then?  And if so, is it possible to pull yourself out of the action 100% and just issue commands via some command screen ala tribes?

    <span id='postcolor'>

Well actually it is, but only when playing as the commander. Sometimes your presence is called for at the battlefield obviously, but it is possible to sit at a safe distance and tell your men to shoot whatever crawls into their sights.

You wont see any action, but if you insist...it's possible.

But seriously .... don't compare!! This game is not numero uno on the graphics side, but once it gets to you, you wont put it down for a long time....

A few succesful co-op missions or regular all-out wars you'll be hooked.

I think the example in the first post more or less sound awful. Accellerated time, symmetrical island, etc : sounds like Quake or other crap shooter - i hate them.

I love OFP for being closest to realism thus far. I like that you can get lost in vet mode and have to check streetsigns and landmarks to pin your position. I like the challenge that teams are not equal. I hope OFP 2 will be like OFP1, just with more details, like interiors of all buildings, better graphics, more troops, ambient life, etc.

    <span id='postcolor'>

I have to second this strongly. What differ OFP from your run-of-the-mill  FPS is the realism, and this is the aspect of the game that BIS must focus on.

It's seldom nowadays too see games that stand out and dare to be something else than Red Alert or Quake offspring.

What makes OFP special is realism!! The accelerated pulse when running from cover to cover - the total sense of confusion and chaos on the battlefield if there isn't a leader around to tell you what to do - the gloom of oncoming rain -  lying wounded on the battlefield with a roaming bmp and no more laws - steeling ammo rounds from your dead buddies - etc.etc.

If you want to play Counterstrike, play counterstrike and forget about OFP. I pray that BIS doesn't lean more towards that type of gameplay, it would ruin everything that makes OFP special.

  7. An important aspect of this is that the possible addition of artillery would be balanced out, if there is a chance of hiding in a hole untill the bombardement is over.

It wouldn't provide 100% cover, but enough to avoid the complete wipeout of a whole platoon due to artillery fire.

So to all BIS folks!! If you are considering the addition of artillery to OFP, please bear in mind that adding foxholes and trenches would balance it.

  8. Here's a suggestion:

Foxholes....this would add to the realism of the game, giving you stronger protection when holding a strategic position. The fortresses are not at all satisfying in this game. Or maybe it's just because I'm a complete idiot at using them. They seem to offer no advantages...if you want to fire from them anyway.

And here's the question: Why is rank not showing on uniforms in OFP?  If team-tags can be implemented, rank shouldn't cause too much of a problem. It's d*amn hard to identify your co, unless he happens to be wearing a silly hat. Getting a message like "Follow 1" leaves you at a loss when playing in veteran mode.
