There are only three other games I remember getting equally emerged in. The one that popped my cherry was Tomb Raider 1 (PS), then Final Fantasy VII (PS) then Baldurs Gate. OFP equals TR in adrenalin that's for sure. It naturally doesn't match FF VII or BG in the storytelling department, but then it offers so much else. The one thing that has me pissed is MP (se my rant from yesterday). I guess it's because there are so many good things about this game, that when one (rather important, no?) aspect isn't satisfactory you react strongly to it... Still, OFP will be here for a long time. It has revolutionised by daring to be more than just a FPS, by taking on the impossible project of go-where-you-want-by-whatever-means-you'd-like. I don't mind waiting for the 4.0 if only it offers some netcode improvement. That's all we need. Forget about adding more vehicles, there are addons galore by now. Forget about more weapons, buildings, people. As long as there are people out there spending time on scripting some good missions, we don't even need more of that from BIS/CM. I'll sure as #### have played this game more than any of the three I mentioned first, and I will continue to. And btw, Pepsi Max is Diet Pepsi. - -- ---

After taking out the choppers (or in the midst off) a truck appears and Robin Hood and his merry men jump out to serve you some lead soup. Except, on my third attempt they never showed. I got my orders to drive to Levie....then as I was weel out of town I heard on the radio "the town is under attack...return to your mission". But before I had time to turn the jeep around, the mission ended (successfully). This happen for anyone else? o - -- ---

#### dont watch out for it...outrun it. Just floor it and drive through as fast as you can. - -- ---

Questions regarding Kegetys Javelin
nordin dk replied to nordin dk's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I agree it's a beauty. Watching it launch is like art. I just couldn't seem to get it to hit the target. I just tested it on some infantry, it took out about 20. Could probably do more. Amazing. - -- --- -

Questions regarding Kegetys Javelin
nordin dk replied to nordin dk's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I have installed the fix... maybe it's just a poltergeist or whatever... But seriously Kegetys: When will you add some wounds to those artic soldiers? Is it hard to do? (I know absolutely nothing about programming) -
Get Kegety's Kolgujev Winter Addon + Gunslingers Editor Upgrade (ver.1.2). Those are the basics. ______________________________

Have you tested the range of it? oooh...and what is the ammo-designation? I tried "this addmagazinecargo ["Javelin",1]" but that crashed the game.... back to the beloved mission editor for more practise -

The 'removeallweapons' command does not work with ammocrates, believe me I've tried it... Now I have just the right amount of explosives, to make it more realistic. Adds tension to the situation when there's only one chance of blowing up that enemy vehicle.... nordin_dk

At the beginning of an ambush mission I'm working on, I want to have an ammo crate with just one satchel in it and no mines. I don't care about the grenades and magazines.... How do I remove the mines and 5 surplus satchels from the crate?

Is it my settings or are the graphics really this bad?

And if so, is it possible to pull yourself out of the action 100% and just issue commands via some command screen ala tribes? <span id='postcolor'> Well actually it is, but only when playing as the commander. Sometimes your presence is called for at the battlefield obviously, but it is possible to sit at a safe distance and tell your men to shoot whatever crawls into their sights. You wont see any action, but if you insist...it's possible. But seriously .... don't compare!! This game is not numero uno on the graphics side, but once it gets to you, you wont put it down for a long time.... A few succesful co-op missions or regular all-out wars you'll be hooked. -

Accellerated time, symmetrical island, etc : sounds like Quake or other crap shooter - i hate them. I love OFP for being closest to realism thus far. I like that you can get lost in vet mode and have to check streetsigns and landmarks to pin your position. I like the challenge that teams are not equal. I hope OFP 2 will be like OFP1, just with more details, like interiors of all buildings, better graphics, more troops, ambient life, etc. <span id='postcolor'> I have to second this strongly. What differ OFP from your run-of-the-mill  FPS is the realism, and this is the aspect of the game that BIS must focus on. It's seldom nowadays too see games that stand out and dare to be something else than Red Alert or Quake offspring. What makes OFP special is realism!! The accelerated pulse when running from cover to cover - the total sense of confusion and chaos on the battlefield if there isn't a leader around to tell you what to do - the gloom of oncoming rain -  lying wounded on the battlefield with a roaming bmp and no more laws - steeling ammo rounds from your dead buddies - etc.etc. If you want to play Counterstrike, play counterstrike and forget about OFP. I pray that BIS doesn't lean more towards that type of gameplay, it would ruin everything that makes OFP special. nordin_dk

An important aspect of this is that the possible addition of artillery would be balanced out, if there is a chance of hiding in a hole untill the bombardement is over. It wouldn't provide 100% cover, but enough to avoid the complete wipeout of a whole platoon due to artillery fire. So to all BIS folks!! If you are considering the addition of artillery to OFP, please bear in mind that adding foxholes and trenches would balance it.
