The 12 stars represent the 12 original members of the European Community as it was originally named. They will have to change it anyway, what with the new members and all. Like the stars in the american flag, that multiplied as more memberstates were accepted.

Let's focus on the main point here!! The changing of the definition of the off-topic forum. I agree with Jaxx. The definition is to narrow. What's depressing on this part of the Forum is not the "spam" threads but the constant country-wars and bickering about who can create the most efficient killing-machines. That is depressing. P.S. And I think Huxley is wrong

shhh! ...don't mention the cereal thread for crying out loud. As has been suggested earlier by another brilliant mind (oh wait, that was me), a single "spamming" thread would do no harm. It would be like having a smokers room in an office building. It would probably prevent (most) spam from seeping into the other threads, and everyone would know that the ludicrous post-counts of a few individuals didn't come from meaningful conversations, and consequently the spammers don't get any undeserved respect on account of their postcount. Result=everyone's happy! When you think of it, it's actually a good idea. (It's also a good idea when you don't think of it)
