Chernarus Life vs. City Life (2?)
manberries replied to Sgt. Gomez 24's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Citylife is arma 1 was significantly more in depth. Citylife was more willing to create new models and present a more realistic aspect. When i was part of it and the CLEU we went through basic police training from a person currently attending the police academy. This was mixed in with many kools features and functions. At one point this included fist fighting, fire fighting, and all sorts of kool things. Ultimately, that whole thing went a bit tits up after some in fighting. Due to sahrani/chenarus life having less addon requirement it has transfered over to arma 2 faster and with more options. Overall i haven't touched citylife for a while since things set ugly. Chenarus life currently has more functionality, but we will have to see how things work out. -
If you are having trouble with unresponsive controls like i did when i first booted it, increase your mouse sensitivity substantially. If you feel it strange that the gun moves without your entire character moving, turn down the float zone to zero in options. I would also highly suggest turning down the head bob until barely noticeable or off all together. As said above all joysticks should work. Game pad controllers may or may not work from a functional aspect, but considering that Arma 2 has far too many controls than can be mapped on a Gamepad that even if it did work it would be less functional. I hope this helps you get acclimated.

The USMC does not employ women in combat roles. Not as pilots, not as foot mobiles, not even as supply runners in a confirmed combat zone. The US army does not allow women in direct military roles either. They do allow women to do supply runs which due to modern insurgent style warfare does mean combat for a small number of women. The Russian Federation Army does have women in their military but has not put a women in a direct combat role since WW2. Slavic culture does not promote women as guerrilla combatants either. No former republic of the USSR employed women in combat and during the Yugoslavian conflict there were no women militia. In short, lets not worry about the sexist aspect. It is just plain and simple unrealistic to have a women combatant model; and for game that struggles to achieve realism already I don't think we need it to be any more unrealistic over something so small. Also, since you cannot choose which model you spawn with (it is based off the type of unit unit you choose IE riflemen, machine gunner.) this would make you unable to choose the women avatar anyway. And no you cannot simply reskin as they are all based off the same basic model. It would just look like a man with makeup.

based on real world terrain but are not the actual cities oh and is it such a stretch for them to use this program just as the few armies who are now using it? if a complete and advanced army finds usefulness in simulators than why cant terrorists? my suggestion was to base the maps off of real world places but not to recreate exact cities. These are notes to the creator, not the spoiled little children running around this forum. If you refuse to believe that terrorists use simulators for training then thats your own problem. I do agree there are other methods available for training purposes, which is why i agree it is sensible to create this mod. All i ever asked was to create fake cities modeled after those in real life. I have no interest in arguing with people who cannot see beyond their own enjoyment of ARMA. A final thought. These very ideas were expressed during the creation of all modern day war simulators. If gaming companies believe its a valid point then it is worth considering. I believe the modder can create a nice middle ground between exact iraq war and a completely made up war. I would encourage that you at least take a moment to consider my proposal.

well guess what ur wrong they do. this is a game and it is not worth helping terror organizations for your own personal joy of reenacting the battles your honorable men in uniform have been fighting, and dishonoring them with little games
-
kroky the argument regarding iraq and afghan war within arma isnt so much about the subject but its uses. Numerous terrorist organizations have used such military training programs to practice ied strikes and find holes in military tactics. Personally i do not see a huge problem with creating an iraq war mod, id only suggest that we do not remodel real cities or real areas within iraq. Instead such places could be changed but still given the same feel to them as the real life counter parts. Sure they could make the maps themselves for training purposes but lets not try to help them out. Id rather not see men die for our personal entertainment needs.

some j-sdf reinforcements to american troops in south korea sounds like it could be a good start for some mission makers -
he means the walls might as well not be there currently the shelters are as weak or possibly weaker than the current hangers in arma idk how weak for i have yet to test it.
-
how survivable is the hanger? can it take a direct hit from a gbu? is it just visual? and will the future doors be survivable?

there is that picture proof and then common sense that tells you they are not curved. Would be harder to get the mag out if it was curved... -
i beleive u mentioned reloading i was just clarifying

indeed ive seen many strapped to their back right at the shoulder so he can reach back and pull it out with the same motion you would do so if u had a sword on your back. -
then those pauses are long enough for specific cooling yes russian weapons are famously reliable but 3000 rounds from an impossibly huge 3000 round belt would destroy the gun.

ya dont over exert ur self for some sf units one of the hardest things is to make SF and general soldiers look significantly different. btw that whole rant about sf guys i have no idea what u r talking about with that one lol. As for the sf helmets idea ya there are actually many many different helmets used by SF now a days so he sure could make many different units. Unfortunately finding enough pictures to model the helmets is another story. In the end the MICH really is the best helmet choice so ur only refuge will be recon units wearing baseball caps and other head gear not rated for assault situations take a look at the ODA thread for units being developed in that style -
i dont think its continuous because the m60e4 is praised for firing 800 rounds continuously without overheating. I believe he is speaking about barrel life, and the effects of constant overheating of a gun.
-
do u mean shot 2500 rounds continuously or over a test period of time?

^ unfortunately modern SF helmets which are of various MICH designs (3 if i can remember correctly) look very much alike to his current ACH helmets. in truth ACH helmets which are on his units are a specific design of the MICH helmet which changed certain parts for common army use. The MICH have less coverage but more places to add various electronics and are used by many special forces within the us military. Overall the general look of the ACH and newest MICH are nearly the same. The protect or hockey helmet ones are a tad outdated and i doubt he will create ones using such helmets. -

nice work on the new models but this leaves a question do replacement packs work with new models? -
handguns jam regularly as well but 98% of the time its a shell casing caught in the breach. the better justification is that pistols are more rarely used in arma than they even jam lol so no worries about them. glad to see u have updated ideas involving the unjamming process a good response to the community and a good starting idea will leave u as one of the favorite modders of this community. keep up the good work and thanks for ur efforts

feel free to close it until chammy gives u guys a ring or he makes a new thread for his new release nothing important is going on here anyway

smart man taking out the faces too many of those soldier bloggers and such release sensitive data good example of how things should be done

"FRAG OUT!!! SHIT ITS TAPED WHO HAS UNCLIPPED NAILS?" no indeed they do not for the "jingle" is much too quiet to matter anyways the sound of whatever is under your boot as you walk is generally louder than any other sound as a soldier walks like i said before i have no installed bpa so its possible that the sound is much too loud. it is true that soldiers of previous eras had much more of that metalic sound as they walked. Newer age uniforms have decreased this sound to those making random useless posts about santa clause. If your gonna waste time atleast keep it on topic. and jingle was not my word choice which is why i put it in quotes Hey chammy hope everythings alright if you have things to take care of then leave the mod be for now i dont mind waiting at all and those who do mind will wait anyways
-
loud "jingles" can indeed be heard from the pins hitting grenades the straps on the weapons pulling the metal rings against their holdings and a few other small objects. i never installed bpa so ive not heard this sounds but indeed modern soldiers jingle to a certain amount
