Not enough disk spacec to install? 4.7GB Free?
mjr_jon replied to MAllen's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Well the people at 505 Games have no idea what the problem is. Great. They're going to work on it just for me and tell me what's wrong once they know. Rest assured I'll be posting what they say, so if anyone else has had this problem: sit tight. PS They did suggest I copy everything from the DVD on to my Desktop and try to install from there in Safe Mode. That didn't work for me, but it might for you. -

I tried my plan, and I almost persuaded ArmA to actually load, but it tells me I've entered a bad serial number at set-up before I get anywhere. Thanks again for your ideas, but I'd really prefer not to go changing things in my registry that I don't understand. I'm going to try phoning 'Arma Tech Support' tomorrow, even if they do charge me about a million pounds for the call. If they're no help (and I'm not holding out a lot of hope) then I may find myself crawling back to ask for some step-by-step instructions on what registry fiddling I need to do. Until then, wish me luck in my quest. And good luck to you also. -

Thanks for the suggestion, but alas it didn't help my plight. Right, here's what I'm doing: I know it's not the ideal way of doing things, but I've installed the game on a computer downstairs and now I'm transferring all the files on to my computer over my network. I've kind of always known that doing something like that might be a bad idea, but I've never really known what would go wrong with it. --- Firstly, will it actually work? i.e. will I be able to play ArmA on this computer after transferring all necessary files? --- Secondly, what problems might it cause? My registry might not be pleased with me, but until I come to uninstall ArmA in the far distant future, will that cause any trouble? As I said, I get the feeling my plan won't work perfectly well but I'm unsure what success (if any) I might expect. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated  -

I reckon it's almost certainly a partition problem, but my C: is the one with 45 Gb free. My F: (the other partition) has 33 Gb free, so I don't know what ArmA's problem is. I am able to install other games perfectly well on here, and I'm able to install ArmA on another computer that wouldn't be able to run it, so it just seems to be a problem with this game and this computer. Troubling to say the least... -

Consider yourself lucky if you're able to install it after freeing up a few more Gb. I currently have over 45 Gb free and I'm still told I don't have enough space  I've heard of other people having similar problems with other games, but I don't know how to solve it. Anyone have any ideas? Â
