Just to retort, im using card AF and dont get the tree frost effect.. disabled ingame.. The game engine is trying to do too much as it is.
To be honest ive not turned off card AF and left it off ingame... What impact on looks does it show? sometimes ive seen very little in games yet performance can increase.. Think ill go do that now see if it really makes much diff in clarity of the ground and depth of textures much.. Ive seen on the guns like where the nameplate or a bump map is for text that it sticks out more with it on when set ingame, but never saw it do much to surrounding land texture.

trackIR is awesome i use them for my air combat sims to, they work great is it worth it to upgrade to the trackIR 5, i have 4 and I just got them like 9 months agoThink it really depends how you use your system, distance etc etc.. I mean im still using TrackIR3 and its never failed me and its use works no diff than what I can see with the newer ones.. But then I sit close to the pc as I would of thought most do, unless using a big projector etc I guess.

Not sure if its been mentioned, but how about a GUI with checkboxes that can move and add the required addons at will?
One drop in folder listed via GUI and then maybe a possible server sided mod that can hook with it to show what that server at that time is running mod wise so you can disable non essential ace mods to help with your own performance gains etc?
:D

nasty,do you have dual screens? if so open taskmanager and if your ms os is implementing audiodg.exe watch it to see if its leaking memory while playing.. Ive never normaly had issues with that damn thing but I can tell you the othernight playing warhammer online, the damn file had a fit and went right up to 1gb or ram usage on that file alone..
Now I monitor it all the time for the sheer scaryness it gave me. Fortunatley nothing of the same sort since.. worth a check though, should normaly be from 9-15mb when being used..
Otherwise a full motherboard update of drivers (if you have not) could be a good idea. If your temps are fine its a tough one for sure, also sudgest a Hard drive test with pref the makers tools to see if its dying.
If not could be corrupt system files somewhere, does happen time to time, only once so far in my time of putting. But when it does it to especially windows media type system files, the microsoft OS goes ape.

Yup sounds like they are holding the rendering of everything in a region, maybe its some idea implemented thinking it would speed things up generaly in busy situation.. That would mean the game would have to be aimed at soley high end systems that even today most have not got to build yet id say.. same old story..
Could also be an oversight of course, time will tell. But the guinea pigs must keep noticing these things so hehe lets continue :D

Ugh shimmering problems on textures making it look frosted hehe, of late with the way new games are being rendered/HDR types etc I see this quite alot, its not normaly all over a texture like that but what you tend to see is around the edges of the textures like where you would expect AA to hit and deal with it.
Age of conan was my first experience seeing this effect, you would run along and if you look at say trees or bushes (was always these low type models (2d types) then it would jitter a white line/haze that vibrated around the object, until u stop then it vanishes.. lol.
Highly annoying, total immersion killer but seems I dont have a choice of late wether I want that....
Again, optimizations to drivers in conjunction with engine testing/updates is needed across the board and will happen in time. Unfortunatley we are again seeing the horse bolt the stable cause the publishers left the door open to early :D

I did have a thought about the KH server on one matter but did not raise it then due to thinking it was just a new game server setup teething issues.
The issues was that joining the KH server although I could play fine, it returned in blue text that it could not get my ID!! Which is balloney cause it shows in my details ingame and somewhere in the menus I think.. Other servers didnt have a problem but that one server did that and I was wondering why at the time.
So if anyone that can enlighten me that would be nice... maybe jman from KH can.

Running them here and ive had no problems with gaming so far, arma2 does seem more responsive albeit not like wow wow different but there is something there with these drivers that make the feel of gameplay/movement generally smoother in some way.
Warhammer online/sims3/wow/Dow2/Empire total war/Killing floor/ all running good as well.
-
Ive got it running pretty darn nice though but it seems to take a bit of tweaking for the individual again I guess.. Still If its running for me this well so far and so early on release I can only imagine that it will get even better like arma 1 patches did..
Cant wait for more updates....

Yeah i was reluctant to wipe my vista install for trying win7 out cause for a change i had it running like a dream was behaving etc, still im glad i did win7 is really pretty much fine regarding its still early for it..

"CM have said they are taking a different direction and one that opens up a game that had a narrow target audience and make it more accessible."
^^ that reeks of a dumbing down line.. "making it more accessible" just means that lol

Yeah I want that mod from arma 1 that takes off the black area in 3rd person while wearing nv's.. and expands the view a bit or removes the goggle surround alltogether, u dont really have that sense of goggle area when using them as your eyes adjust and its like seeing the full Fov anyhow.

You won't get far with that E6550 as it's an entry level dual-core.You'll need at least a more mid/highend-ish processor. We're talking about the E8xxx series or Q6xxx.
Using a E6600 at 3.3ghz arma only hits between 50-75% on use. Yeah newer duals are nicer for the heat and pwr requirements but heck ive not found a game yet that the E6600 end of the market cant handle and for the most part will even hold its own against a q6600..
If the game wont use the cores in the right way or more than 2 anyhow then anything spare is redundant and would normaly be put to use for applications other than gaming..
Its that minor as far as ive noticed that the Q6600 I bought is still sitting in its box as ive not needed to use it yet :D

Those sort of errors are normaly to do with a bad install of textures etc or say youve done something to the folder structure somewhere.. (not that you have of course) If reinstalling did not fix it thats a pretty annoying situation for you :(
Everything is standard I take it on install no added mod folders or altered files in the main install etc.

72;1303672']They said they might. But they also said the AA from their tests produced some artifacts. Didnt sound dead serious (as in not too big artifacts i guess) but artifacts none the less. So they might check it a bit before activating it.Hope they get it sorted. That fillrate sure is heavy for us that doesnt yet have monster machines.
Alex
Trust me its no good for even high end gaming rigs regardless what you hear :D
Its all dandy playing etc but for it to be anyworthy a solid platform for mass fighting this fillrate drudge really does need to be dealt with harshly!! lol.
Its just so archaic im dumbfounded everyday I read about it and shake my head on why they would adopt such a feature (if you can call it that) in a game of this long standing and now bearing new fruit and goodness this side of 1902 lol.
Still im sure they will see the error of theyre ways once all the steam people start hammering them about it.
-
Infact lol, I vote for BIS to just get rid of it and put back in normal everyday widely used and loved AA options for ones card and then no bugger will be confoooosed :D
-
Skeptic that is writen in a most odd and confusing way :D
maybe you could explain it differently than Resolution in game + your native screen
That to me would be same thing,
Rather than say,, Resoultion output choice via game menu over the rendering screen resolution (Fillrate%)
100% fillrate = rendered at same level as chosen resolution choice in the game menu. (e.g 50% fillrate would say render the game half of the chosen output resolution choice in the game menu but you would still be stretching or contracting to view at your chosen ingame menu resolution.)
Dunno maybe its just the way I read things but your post confused me lol no offence and thanks..

Sometimes the V is a U try that.. Always detested shoddy printed keys lol

Some odd reason all that link does for me is sit waiting to get accepted :(
Ah fixed downloaded it from armaholic :D

Yeah Ive seen an out of memory error on ATI card 4870, Just trying the 9.6 cats from the driver thread posted not long ago and will see how that all goes..
-
Yeah, but they are unified, e.g. 9-5_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu.exeAh ok thanks..
-
Vista & Windows 7 drivers are unified since Catalyst 9.3Just thought it was odd as there is a seperate area on amd site to download windows 7 drivers.

Quote from a guy on Guru3d:I have downloaded them but can't try them until I get home this evening which is a few hours away. I'll report my findings once I've tried them out.
update
EDIT: Seems to be fixed by removing the -winxp command line parameter, previously used for Crossfire compatability but it doesn't seem to be needed anymore and it didn't BSOD either
Performance Tests...

Yeah you can catch it happen sometimes out the corner of your eye but I think the whole issue is, is it working as intended, and not causing degrade in performance due to badly implemented/code issues.
