  1. This happens to all faces. It's part of the slow loading textures problem.

BIS has said in several threads that ArmA 2 wasn't tested on the 185.xx++ drivers and recommended 182.xx untill the problems with newer drivers are solved.

Thats all good but how about the ati drivers they tested the game on in dev ?

:D yeah I know the reply probably, but just having a dig that they seem to of only used nvidia as the test bed.. Yawn lol.

  2. yea i know that already lol
odd i had a clan member playing with a 8800GTS 768MB PCI-E and he ran the game on high at 25-30fps. Whether as i have another mate who has the same card but 320MB of memory and he has to run the game on low-med

^^ im not sure what your missing, if you knew already why did you post about it lol ?

    1) so he ran the game on high with 768mb ram onboard his card..

    2) your mate had same card with 320mb onboard card ram and has to run the game on low-med settings

^^ self evident then that yes he would have to run it on low-med, sort of makes sense right :D

Or were you just posting like you were thinking outloud lol and hit the submit button by mistake :p

I was just wondering will this run Arma 2 with maxed settings at 30 fps

    Windows vista 64 bit

    4Gb ram

    8800 Ultra

    Intel Core 2 extreme Q6850 3 GHz

Quite possibly and max isnt everything :D and should prob do the trick for most part eventually when game is patched up a bit anyhow..

    Stay on topic placebo

If you were my kid id smack your ass with a nail filled baseball bat.

What are you 10? rude fracker.

  3. Yup. I also noticed this. What's funny is that it also makes my card work at between 50-60% usage (for both GPUs). In SP 60 fps is max for me and both GPUs at 99% usage.

yes same here my gpu started running a short time ago in a server with about 30 people at just 25% activity lol,, 50c,, I did some more fiddling as its been so random with frames its untrue.

constant 35+ is fine but 28 and lower seems to kill the immersion and fun. I went on an empty server a min ago and joined 2 others on a simpler mission and previously I had altered my screen and gfx options in last said server to see if it was anything buggered like that. Heck I joined the next server and my res was like stuck at some low scale no matter what i changed in gfx option it did nothing. I had to delete the profiles and rpt files etc and start again.

Once I did that everything was back to reasonable frames again and behaving, 35>60 frames on the server that I was just getting 25 max and could not alter my gfx settings to make any changes.

Just another noticed thing as well, The armaotherprofile cfg i remade and have done before now did this, has changed once again in its layout/format.

I noticed this a little while back but thought well its all there so must be ok, but it seems to change placement in the cfg file all the setting options, not sure if thats normal but in the standard profile the one it picks off your desktop login name for example that always stays formated the same..

Anyhow the plot thickens with randomness, roll on a few patches I say. That HDR stuff needs sorting or maybe its just developers drivers for our cards I dunno, but watching the time shift and the lighting move around made my fps also change where i was facing :D and this happened over a matter of a min or less.

I was standing facing North, the lighting moved as it does and the frames went from 50 to 35.. Now I then turned the whole player model around to the right to the NE then E and my frames went back up to 50+. Heh work that out :D

But getting a bit sick an tired of chasing this engine to get a stable game of late frames wise. It has a mind of its own it seems.. :(

  4. Ive recently run into multiplayer capping me at 30 frames, its rediculous I load up a scenario or load a ofp ported map and can play between 40>70 fps look at sky 130 look and ground 130.

But for some reason of late when i join mp games or host one myself the frames seem to get locked to 30.. it tries hard to go beyond i can tell as sometimes one sees a flicker up to 33 and then its shoved back again to 30.. I drove out of the base where the start was and into nomans land and the frames stayed at 30 lol its fracking rediculous..

Forcing vsynch off in ati tray tools works a treat as you can tell for sp game for me, but has no effect at all on mp/self hosted games.. What blows is the fact I was playing mp games at around 35>45 on avg frames, and it just seems to of changed on its own and now locked at 30 lol, no idea what happened at all. grrrrrrrr.

  5. You should never have to send your key to anyone, its like being told not to give ur password out at a bank its personal, its yours, and nobody not even the bank would ask you for it.

I know its fixable this way as many have done so but still, if any person here was unsafe net wise and very unlucky to have mail hijacked or keylogged or anything down that road would the mods here offer a free legit key after yours had been abused?

I have a valid point dont try to tell me I dont. :D

  6. Yeah, as I said before, I tried it. No noticeable difference.

ATI Tray tools does it for ATI cards.

Yeah shouldnt I think do much as its an opengl adjustment, but im sure ive read before that you can use it otherwise. Thing is i forced it to 24 earlier and flew around the map in heli's nice and 50>100 fps :D and did not see one shimmering dual loading texture plain on the windows of doors etc etc..

Could be just random luck though, this engine has me in fits at times with its irregularities :D

  7. Here you go Yield, its here in the profile you make with Ati tray tools, just go back to manage profile and select the right tab you should see it.

I get 130 frames looking at sky and ground now if need to claw back any fps while big battles going on till it dies down lol. Generally though getting anywhere between 45 and 80, with avg of 55 in most places at this time. I messed around with flip que size(ati) pre render frames aheas(nv) on my card to 0 lol I got no mouse lag using that and got no texture transitions when say running towards a village and the buildings stayed full hi res textures. Frames stayed aroun 40-45.

Was rather suprised, but gonna check out the other end of the scale now with flip que 5 and see if my bandwidth crawls like a maimed soldier hehe. Love tweaking most fun eh.

  8. Do you need to create a profile? because I just installed ati tray tools then set it to always off, and that does not work..

Ah right i see the force option now.. hmm will give it a go :D, the start up params section is for the switches in ur normal shortcut i guess?

  9. The window texture loading etc seems to be where hi and low res textures are holding the same location and not being fixed to one or the other when at view like that.. annoying i get it on more than windows for the most part :(

Even arma 1 today still has that on say the main airbase control tower doors when looking from a distance.. again annoying and prob easily fixed.

  10. Ok well I seem to have come across this issue where my CCC panel nor ATI tray tools setting Vsynch to "OFF always", does not do as its told with arma2.

Arma2 is still locking itself to 60 frames in the games menu (obviously ingame as well, not that we get constant 60 anyhow lol).

Can ATi users running both 9.5 and 9.6 post here to let me know how they are doing with vsynch off, use fraps or something to display the FPS in the games window..

    Thanks,

P.s if this is known to some of you or a problem with any drivers 9.5 or 9.6 and your aware of a fix, or maybe a arma cfg to set for vsync "off" do let me know.

    Cheers.

  11. Well you can just stand next to a vehicel and sometimes its still in low dead poly mode. then you look away with alt and mouse and at certain angles the textures and model pops into full res definition again..

That thr0tt is darn annoying.. same goes for the player models.. Its like settings for the gfx are not being held correctly when making alterations and they are getting conflicting ideas or something.

sometimes a complete deletion of the profile and arma cfg works when it resets itself again on detection when starting up. But still that should not have to be done eh.

  12. There is alot of issues regarding the grass and settings as far as I notice. If you set your terrain grid to say 30 lol you can see most of the distance if not all grass is non existant, local areas though you still get clutter/brush etc. Its annoying it should be on a totaly different switch the foliage and grass..

I was reading a may 2008 blog about LOD issues that they had found and were almost done fixing them up, with them saying that this didnt just affect bushes/trees etc with swapping texture and model issues. The blog stated then that they had just about sorted it all out with some other lod issues..

Now that was may 2008 lol, its now release over year later, and those issues are still pretty much evident when playing. Pretty sad but Im sure it will get some what "fixed" but im more displeased that this was mentioned over a year ago now and apparently almost fixed up back then.. Yeah sure ok hehe..

  13. These 'clockety clockety' sounds? I thought they simulated gear and not footsteps.

Those clockety sounds are indeed gear related, and I think they are great now as standard in arma2. I used a sound mod once in arma1 which had these and it was very good then suddenly vanished and wasnt updated.

I thought it was a great atmosphere booster and when you run around with such kit on in real life you do here the rubbing and knocking sometimes of items, so all good as far as I am concerned..
