The ones that know the landscape and the elements in the area can use them to their advantage,if you can do that you can give the enemy a good fight if not defeat them. It seems to be a lesson stated many times in war's,invasions and battles.
-
No arguements here, that part does potrude a bit farther than what it seems it should, but I'm not really a T-72 expert,I have no idea what earlier models looked like or such, all I know is how to identify them with the most basic preferences.

http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/4874/czg3ux1.jpg The image is not in full perspective..thing something like being in O2 and zooming out a bit and then getting closer to the model,or using OFP's camera script...I think its camera.sqs...yeah..anyway,it looksl ike that was used by zoomed out a bit and the camera was pushed closer,so the front is closer and longer but the rear is farther and shorted, thus warping the image.

Indeed the trained "children' of the US military have a sick sense of humor these days. Not all soldiers point and laugh just be an ***hole, however most of the ones we see atleast on the internet are. Such as that one movie where a guy was taking wood, wood now..and a person directing an M1A2 Abrams crew decided to crush that car,so that car being the guys taxi cab..pretty much took away his job. Now a person loots for wood to keep warm and we run his car over with a tank, people kill and loot eachothers houses here in the US and what do we do? Give them money, have pity on them. I say that if some of the victims of hurricans want sympathy, they should have been helping eachother rather than killing and looting eachother, those bastards got what they deserved. The US national guard and Coast Guard should have been allowed to open fire on those that fired upon them. The truth is,when it comes to most americans these days, they find things as a joke, thinking that ruining somebody elses life is funny. Anyway..my ill minded american rant being done. Back to the topic,in terms of this new side, the US vs USSR is rather nice..if they want to do something like say..US vs UK or UK vs Germany that would be nice,a new kind of conflict,it doesn't quite have to be really fictional..or is it nonfiction..anyway. As long as they don't go with the whole US vs insurgents in the Middle East. Thats nothing more than a short mind spanded idea for a plot on what has to do with current events. Me being american and all would not mind seeing a different military other than the US. If I saw the UK vs Germany or something of such it would show a different idea. I mean..lets look at most games. What military is always in it? The US,in almost ever game. If were going to have a new enemy why not have a new military? Or play from a different military viewpoint.

Indeed,we already have the swat guys,terrorist..errr...that depends on what you think they look like, when people hear terrorist for most part these days they think middle east. But straying from that, the biggest issue with close quarter combat at the moment is due to collision detection,AA has that fixed so it would be very possible. Of course if they add weapon ballistics and the enemy has AK's,they could just shoot ya through the wall.
-
There is or was two seperate teams working on each game. Armed Assault had its own and Game2 had its own,AA having more people if I remember right...However discussion of game2's release is going overboard, bickering about Armed Assault is bad enough but I guess some people can't be happy with just that, they have to throw more gas into the fire by asking about Game2. It is true that we do not have all that much info really, however Game2 is supposedly to have a far more advanced engine than AA. And lets stop to think how long this game has been in development....well....one year...one year, one stinking year. Most games these days take two to three to be made. Before people decide to say its been long enough, take a look at its anounce date vs how long it takes most modern games. 2008 is maybe a possibility, but 2009 or 2010 would make more sense. It all depends on what they want to add. All in all,I wouldn't worry about it,we don't even have our hands on Armed Assault yet so its too early to start debate on Game2's release date.

Indeed,I agree with the idea, somethin to help get off this finger subject. Seriously, three pages of argueing over a finger animation which you will not see in anything but cutscenes? When you are fighting the enemy will you be looking at them or your buddys hand? When you are in person, will you see your weapon or your moving fingers? Your weapon and wrist, when you find yourself in a situation of supporting your buddies, what will you be looking at,your squads fingers or your enemy? Seriously, its as if a finger fetish is goin on. Argueing over something like the way tanks work,a radar works or something of much more important nature would make sense. But a finger? I would say you should be ashamed for raising hell over such foolishness,I just wanted to post this message and perhaps tell you that some things are not worth argueing back and forth. "Well it adds immersion.." And so would wild life, but in the end which would be the better arguement? Now...a few people including Placebo have stated blatantly that there are finger trigger animations,so let me type it out in a spaced phrase for those of you that skim. Placebo along with several others have stated that there are finger animations. There, now its time to move on with the subject and find something new to talk about.

Well why.. BF2/BF2142 dont get cut down.. myabe its time for all these people to save up for some upgrades to there computers.. the world is changing and so are computer games.. more and more games are getting better GFX! so i think its time people change with it instead of sitting in neutral gear. If they cant handle ArmA how they going to handle future games for that matter like Quake Wars for example.. it has UBER 10x more gfx effect than ArmA.. i bet they wont down grade tht.. lol I bet people dont really wana be in neutral gear so get into fifth gear or something and move with the flow. True but remember bf2 was mostly about graphics, same old engine used in bfv with a slight maybe 1 or 2 additional change, otherwise same old stuff, however the map size is a blackhead on a face when compared AA's island. As far as the animations go,no there is no finger trigger in bf2,and I was wrong about AH-1Z tail rotor, its correct,I was lookin at somethin else ><. But yes I must agree with this dumbing down bs,why go backwards when all the people with lower PC's (I probably included) could simply turn down the graphics,so you don't get to play the game as you see it in screenshots, you still get to play it,or is it the grahpics you are after? If that be the case, this game is not for you.
-
Now thats true Some time ago a few people complained it was incorrect,I duno..just a few small mistakes, like the AH-1Z's tail rotor being on the wrong side. As for the NS faces..I don't quite understand whats wrong with them, their not Russian so they are not supposed to look Russian, they are..NS,what can be said really? If they had chin straps then that would play hell with the facial hair,or so I'v been told.
-
I'd have to say that forest image is moreso game2 or vbs2,probably game2,I doubt VBS2 would be advertised pubicly..anyway I could be wrong as well, judging by how NS area is European based with forests and SS is tropical. I'm mostly basing judgement by the wrist and is a faulty and bad area to look at,but I think it may be posible. Or it could be a later build, but the area just below the rifle the wrist is more detailed but lacks a vein, plus the scope mounted on the M4 is different than that seen in AA's images.

not answering my question if you did a bit of research on Normal mapping you'r have your answer. Basicly, Normal mapping > Bumpmapping i thought normap map was working only with orientations, i was wrong. I think they are the same thing but normal mapping uses a larger frequency of colors, rainbow spectrum vs bump maps black to white spectrum, thus getting more details.
-
Yes AA has normal mapping and specular mapping.
-
I didn't That was my point. Oh it wasn't you that I meant,it was somebody else that was flipping out for even seeing it.
-
Yes,though it does not happen 100% of the time you will survive around 70-80%. Once you do your on the ground as a grunt with an M4 and you can take a stinger missile launcher from the helicopter, though I think thats moreso the longbow not regular apache, but yes you can survive most of the time and unlike the BIS apache you will NOT be killed if somebody shoots at the cockpit glass, chances are that if something gets through the cockpit glass then the helicopter is baddly damaged or destroyed. It has several damage systems in a sense, both engines can be damaged in which case they will smoke lightly, and can be damaged so bad that smoke will come from the exhaust nonstop. When one engine is lost the helicopter will receive less power, yes you can still fly but you can't fly as high and you can screw up and crash yourself if you stress the helicopter too much. The MFD's display maps of the original OFP islands along with a crosshair to show your location, like BAS blackhawks. The tail rotor can and will fail if hit just right and the helicopter will then begin to spin uncontrollably. You can also damage the main rotor and cause it to completely stop working and well...you'll be saying hello to the ground in a matter of moments. There is also pylon damage, basicly if you do it just right you can damage a wing of the apache enough that the weapons on that wing will no longer work. The way you monitor these is via MFD,a screen that will display all systems and status,I forgot the one that says it is working perfectly but from there is Marg for Marginal and then Fail for Failure, when a system is marginal then it has chances of failing, this does not garuntee that it will fail, but chances are higher. Once it fails..well,thats obvious. There is also the different weapon loadouts as well, hovering near an ammo truck will give you the ability to carry various assortments of weaponry. Hence why its the best apache set out there, not only is it a self made model and not a BIS remake but it also does what no other Apache does, not to mention its handling is different from the BIS handling. It does have its incorrections modelwise but I am told its already worked on.

I still can't believe that person actually thought the Camel was in the game to be used in the campaign. It is there for the same reason it was in OFP:E,for an extra multiplayer unit.
-
Everything mentioned other than the SOS call is included in Franze's Apache's.
-
Even if you did and I simply misinterpreted it,I'm the kind of american where you can speak derogatory about americans and I'll more likely agree with you. As far as OFP/AA being more like European games,I have no problem with that, infact in my opinion thats what makes them them,if I had a choice between bf2 or OFP/AA I'd take the European game in an instant because theres so much more you can do,its not as simple as you have this small map and all your doing is capping flags while you see soldiers bunny hopping all over the place. Its moreso tactical thinking which is why I love OFP. But yeah its a shame how the more serious gamer is a dying breed, going to the graphics mainstream gaming, perhaps if AA goes long enough the breed will be reborn or become stronger,if they don't like it they don't have to have it just like we don't have to have theirs I suppose,oh well, graphics are great and eye appealing and whatnot thats fine and good but the heavier graphics are the more trouble your card is going to have, sure you can run these nice and pretty graphics when its calm but when you have 20+ vehicles with bullets and explosions everywhere you are going to be lucky if you don't crash. Now I'm not saying it should be removed by any means,it would help the community and to have come so far to make such a feature only to be rid of it would be such a big waste.

Patience has nothing to do with it, im jammed to the brim with patience, every time a release date comes out i PATIENTLY WAIT what i dont have much capacity for, is disapointment. and now i can expect an additional 3-4 months of waiting for english version, and im sure im not the only one deeply annoyed Glad your not a duke nukem fan,I'd hate to see how many veins would be bulging out of your head by now.
-
Not sure if you didn't notice buta bout the the hind...there are no east vehicles,or I'm looking on the wrong page, all I see are west. Nevermind,I'm just a dumbass that missed the words to the left saying "east, west, civilian, resistance" Mmm...I wouldn't think the game is done for some reason really,I mean yes the east has T-72's and no doubt a good number but it seems that the US has more of the anti vehicle weaponry, east has virtually no boat balance whatsoever in a way they kind of um..yes I can understand their numbers are supposed to balance but its just kind of oddish..that and south sahrani forces has only one armored vehicle and three car tyes for drive by shootings and whatnot, from what I heard they are supposed to have older US equipment so I'm wondering if were gonna see an M60A1 or M60A3..time will tell I guess, and if not then the community can always intervene, just looking at the lighting you can see that AA graphicwise has alot that OFP doesn't,specular maps for one and normal for the other,so there won't be as much need in making some parts actual faces sooo yeah. Though I honestly wonder why it is that they took images of the vehicles from such a distance so that you don't really see the finer details.
-
I duno...I'd rather have viewdistance to see an enemy 500meters+ away rather than only see them when their but maybe 20feet away. Oh and eh...thats going to require aloooot of floppy disks.

@ CAHEK Ooooh okay,I misread and got it all backwards,I thought he was trying to reason as to why to have MPIV's instead,my sincerest apolgoies. And those images you used are not really correct, that one of Franze is the first release, its gone through alot of changes since then. Nod's provided me with an old image of the early texture on the new one,I probably shouldn't show it but unless he says otherwise.. As for MPIV's,that not even his texture, its from BOH and a person called Helifreak. http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=5519 Thats my biggest thing,I don't really see anything in the package that somebody else hasn't done that MPIV has. Anyway for the more recent picture. http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/546/earlyapachetexturemv9.jpg Please don't come to my house and hit me with a bat Nod >< Okay Nod has told me specificly that he doesn't want me posting images of the old apache,he says there are too many model parts that have been changed along with the lighting,so yeah...If you want to see what it really looks like then you'll have to download it seperatly and use it,because that image is way old and OFP.info never fixed them. Its mostly the newer one that once out should replace all other Apache's,I doubt we will find another thats nearly as correct as it is,just have a look. http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/1362/ah64duf8.jpg I can't give anymore details out or Nod will have my head. Sorry if this causes some thread hijacking,I hope it doesn't. -

oh, of course, no disagreement there - essentially it then just becomes a prettier model. Exactly. Worth reminding... Your wrong, there is much more to it that no other apache has,for one it has better manueverability, better reaction time and speed and alot of other things. But so basicly you are saying they would be wasting their time comming out with an upgrade then? -
I'd suppose Game2 might possibly be more like this http://www.armedassault.com/pics/mainpic/arma_web_intro6.jpg But no I wouldn't say that is AA,however many games use renders as compared to what the real game looks like.

Such comments are not needed,if you do not like the blog then nobody is forcing you to read it,plus the demo will be out when it is out. You might find that if you silence yourself about it that it isn't so hard to wait for. Stop being so impatient.

When it comes to textures there is a method that takes more time but will avoid stretching (for the most part),will get the texture in its correct place and you can fix more on it. You could UV it,basicly you cut the model into pieces, you can flatten themif you wish or not, essentially textures will be smaller in appearence but you can fit much more on it,saving having to use 15 textures for one and save computer resources for when its on the model. In O2 to do this,go into the wireframe view and cut the model into pieces, spread them out and get alot of objects around itand so on until you have a group. Then press print screen, then Ctrl+V in a paint program, simply save it and load it into O2. Now here comes the tricky part. If you want the textures right you have to get the size near or exactly correct. Make sure you zoom in pretty far. Once applied the texture is ready to go,if done right you will not have stretching, its a much more complicated option to the usual make texture and then put it on,but it will allow you get much more of the model if you do it right. Oh and bump.
