Recently some people have been discussing the lack of a good or any U.S. Army Special Forces addon. We have Rangers and Delta, but some how the middle man has slipped through. The Green Berets have a long history and have been involved in virtually every conflict since Colonel Aaron Bank created the unit 50 years ago. OFP really needs this addon. I am a Green Beret enthusiast and I have quite a bit of information on these warriors. Also, I am serving in the U.S Army at the moment so getting info or pictures of equipment is not too much work for me. Unfortunately I lack the skills to actually create these addons. Well I started this thread quite a long time ago looking for someone to make some U.S. Army Special Forces. Not in BDUs or regular uniforms, but in the type of gear they used in Afghanistan. PIC 1 PIC 2 First, thanks to Extraction for working on the project. Second, thanks to all of you for the input you have supplied. I believe the new units that BAS is getting ready to release will be somewhat like what I am looking for, but I'm not sure. Good luck on your SEALs Extraction, I am no addon maker so I can't say much, my only advice is take your time. After your SEALs are done and you are ready to switch back to the SF project, please let me know. I have some material you could probably use. My buddy over in 5th SFG is getting ready to deploy but I still have a ton of info. Monty TO: Rishon and USSoldier11B I am at Fort Campbell. I have only been here a couple months. Way over my head bro. I know how to fill ammo crates, that's about it. For example this is my old script for filling ammo crates with BAS weapons. Then in the init I just put [this] exec "BAScrate.sqs" However, the other stuff you are talking about I am not familiar with. I appreciate the info though. Thanks, Monty

The U.S. uses these aircraft very much. They used them a lot in Afghanistan. Monty

So would it be possible to look like a civilian and walk into an enemy occupied town to gather intel? Then walk back to camp and change into your combat gear for the assault? This is probably quite a bit different since you would be changing characters. Is it possible? Monty

This may not apply totally to this, but I am curious about an AC-130 Spectre Gunship. Could you not give it one "weapon" that could switch from being a 40mm cannon, to a minigun, to a 105 howitzer? You could start it pointing forward then have it be able to move to the side right? I don't know jack about scripting addons, and maybe these features are only doable on a helo, but I sure would like to see an AC-130. Just a thought, good luck with your project. Monty

Man, I haven't seen a topic cause this much heat in a while. BAS, thanks for the great addons. Without you and all of the other addon makers this game would never have the following it has. I sencerely hope you have decided to put things on hold for yourselves and not this ungreatful community. I agree that if you are not going to produce anymore OFP1 products then you might as well release everything you have now so other addon makers can finish them and we can enjoy them. As far as the critics go, screw em! A lot of these idiots bitch and moan but as soon as you release something they are downloading it. Thanks again for the great addons, you will be missed. Monty

I just wanted to say happy 4th of July to all of you before I take off for the weekend. We get on these great forums and argue about everything from addons to real world politics to who has the best special operations forces. But in the end we are all alike and we have been pulled together by this game we love. It's good to see people from all over the world coming together like we do in these forums, especially in today's world of terrorism and political fighting.
