  1. Nope. Not running ACE - Stanadrd Vannilla A2/CO - I am running ZEUS AI. Also, I'm patched to A2/CO 1.52 (not 1.54).

But, definitely just with Fallujah only - Playtested on other maps all worked fine - Seems to be Fallujah specific with MK-17 Thermals -

I'm running GTX 460 with 258.96 drivers (same drives I had my 8800GT card with and never had any thermal issues).

  2. The white screen happened to me just now, but soon corrected itself.

I just flew over in a FLIR Littlebird, then an Apache and everything worked fine. Ensure that the last beta patch didn't break your thermal across the board.

I'm only patched to 1.54 (A2/CO) working to well on my system to upgrade (for me)....Plus the latest patch seems buggy as hell...

No. I've playtested on Takistan and Thermal's work fine. Will try again in Fallujah - What I get is a complete white or black screen - Where you can walk or anything once you use Thermals - Completely dark (unless a man is standing right in front of you).

  3. Thermal scopes work on this map??

I can't seem to get mine - Therms work fine on Takistan - But here only get big white or black screen -

Also, is it normal when closing out of Fallujah map when in the editor, coming back to the main ARMA2/CO screen - It sometimes just gives basically a whiteout screen - Blurred or stuck image of sorts - You can still navigate to where you need to go (options, scenarios, editor, etc)...but the main image is bluurred.

    Great map though!

  4. Just have to say agian - This map is great - Firefights are excellent and pro-longed - AI reacts very well within this city - Especially flanking and with shoot and scooting somewhat on you -

Also, James (00DC15), IED mod works incredbly well (too well!!) within this map - To many places for IED observers to hide and with all the trash laid out throughout the city it becomes hard to avoid places....without walking into kill zones / tunnels - Perfect map for the IED_Man_V6 script.

  5. I just had for the first time a complete freeze up running A2/CO - Wonder if others have to - Recently bought a new GTX 460 and trying to figure out if it was a Vid Card issue (with RMA conerns) or if this sometimes happens in A2/CO.

Now I've ran A2/CO with my old 8800GT and never had a complete freeze up like I experience today - Was just playtesting on the fallujah - Not more than 20 units on the map -

My 4 man unit started wlaking and slowly it became very stutter to the point of my guy walking in slow motion.....next a complete freeze up.

Shift + (-) flush didnt do anything - Nor did trying to Ctrl-Alt-Tab - Had to restart -

Booted up again and things ran fine. But I'm still wondering do others experience this once in a while? Or is this likely my new Vid card having issues as I may go the RMA route...

    Thanks

  6. Absoutley fantastic map!! Beautiful, and absolutely great for a variety of scenarios / Ops - Plus just runs flawlessly - Plenty of bldgs for rooftop engagements / sniper spots -

Now, is there any way to tell which houses/bldgs the enemy AI could use the "random house patrol script" in?? In the editor I see each house style as a name? Be it house, Afgani, etc, etc - Is there any simple way in the editor once you zoom in to see which buidlings such Patrol Scripts might work on?

  7. It would be nice to have a thread where everyone listed their major in game settings as well as what they have for their Video Card settings (card itself). Like follows - Just to get an idea -

    Mine are the following...

    In game settings -

    Video Memory = High

Terrain Detail = normal / high (trying both)

Object Detail = normal / high

    View Distance = 1200

    Anisoropic = Normal

    Antialiasing Noraml / high

Now For my GTX 460 itsef - Its settings (main ones)

    Anistropric = App Controlled

    Antialiasing (gamma correction) = On

    Antialiasing mode = App Controlled

Max Pre-Rendered Frames = 3 (just bumped it to 4, to see if this helps at all ??)

Texture filtering / anistoropic sample = Off

Teture filtering / neg lod bias = Allow

    Threaded Optimization = Off

    Triple Buffering = On

    Vertical Sync = Force Off

  8. Hi.

I made this account to post in here, ASSUMING this is the right thread.

Here's the deal: ArmA 2 Demo ran pretty good. Average FPS was 32 or so, and I loved playing it; so I bought the game.

LO AND BEHOLD, I get a new video card (upgraded from GTS 250 to GTX 460) and now, the game will freeze up at random points (makes ArmA 2 vanilla unplayable and won't start up at all anymore, and ArmA 2: OA will randomly freeze up and have a HUGE drop in FPS every so often averaging around 12).

I have no idea WTF is causing this because my rig should blow it out of the water.. even with my old card.

    Here's my specs:

AMD Phenom II X2 550 Processor 3.11 GHz

    4gb RAM

    GTX 460 768mb RAM

    W7 x64

EDIT: I'd like to add, boot camp and the scenario: "One Shot, One Kill" ran PERFECT.

No lag, relatively high FPS, everything went great.

It's MP and other missions that just destroy the FPS.

I'm having somewhat the same issue - I've gone from a 8800 GT (512mb) - To a GTX 460 (1028 MB) - And where on the benchmarks I've gone from around 37 FPS with 8800GT....to now 57 FPS (with slightly higher game settings) with the GTX 460.....

I am now have slight stutters during the game that I never had before with the 8800GT - There are just slight pauses and stutters usually around buildings or just going in or out of doorways..... .This never happened with the 8800GT (a much lesser card in power / performance standards)????

I also have an audio issue where since moving to the GTX 460 I now have a constant buzz when using headphones (only). Not when using desktop speaker systems just when trying to use headphones (impossible now).

What are peopels settings? In the game I have

    Video Memory = High

Terrain Detail = normal / high (trying both)

Object Detail = normal / high

    View Distance = 1200

    Anisoropic = Normal

    Antialiasing Noraml / high

Now For my GTX 460 itsef - Its settings (main ones)

    Anistropric = App Controlled

    Antialiasing (gamma correction) = On

    Antialiasing mode = App Controlled

Max Pre-Rendered Frames = 3 (just bumped it to 4, to see if this helps at all ??)

Texture filtering / anistoropic sample = Off

Teture filtering / neg lod bias = Allow

    Threaded Optimization = Off

    Triple Buffering = On

    Vertical Sync = Force Off

  9. Yeah - I more than suspected that (the GPU part) - Bad wording within my question -

My more direct question would be, at what GPU level should one place their "video memory" setting on high or very high? If you have 512 MB? 1028 MB? Processor speed?

Does BIS have any guidelines of this -I've searched some and not found much directly related to video memory settings -

  10. MY Comp Specs

    XPS 720 System

    Quad Core 2.33gz

    4 GB RAM

GTX 460 1028 MB Vid Card (newly installed)

Am I getting decent performace, would others say??

I'm coming from a 8800GT (in which I had most setttings on normal with PP OFF and Anti on low). On the benchmarks I would run 37-40 FPS -

My settings now are High mostly (with object details and terrain details set to Normal). I still have PP and Shadows OFF -

I'm now getting 57-59 FPS (though I think I"m getting a slut stutter from time to time, that I don't recall getting with my 8800GT).

Does this seem decent or not?? The game defintely looks better, I'm just wondering on the performacne overall and the possible slight stutter...

---------- Post added at 03:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:08 PM ----------

What exactly is "video memory"..... And how do you know where you should have this set to? Low, Normal, High, etc???

    I have a new EVGA GTX 460 1028 MB

  11. The noise is only audiable through my headphones - It is a loud buzzing sound in the backdrop of all other regular game noise - Starts up as soon as I launch into A2/CO and intensifies once within a mission -

If I just have my desktop speakers turned on (no headphones) I get none of the audio distortion / buzzing sound.

I'm 90% certain it has to do with my recent GTX 460 upgrade (99% certain). I just can't figure out why it only is a problem with headphones and not with my desktop speakers as well.

It maybe has something to do with the new HD Audio Drivers that Nvivda puts out with GTX 460 as well (though I have tried disableing these, with no luck). There seems to be some audio related issues with GTX 400s/500s of late, because of drivers I'm reading...

Though, I get NO noise distortion when running other videos (with or without headphones) including some other less graphic intense games.

  12. Try running another game as well. Increased power draw might be issue. You have the noise always but when there is an increase in load on your computer the noise becomes more apparent because of the higher electrical draw through wherever the bleed is at.

Make sure your computer is properly grounded, and any internal audio wires are not too close to other lines, especially power, large capacitors, the GPU or CPU.

Actually just read the bit about a new GPU. I am 100% certain that is the issue. Make sure if you have a front jack for your headphones that the wire is clear and free. It might not be something you are able to fix though, especially if you are using a USB headset.

Thanks for suggestions will look into further - That all lines are free and clear - I'm not using a USB head phones...just the old style insert pin head phones......

How do I make sure my computer is properly grounded? I currently have my case sitting directly on my floor. Power cables plugged into surge protector.

  13. Its the headphones I would say, try some new ones

Nope. I was hoping that was the case to. Not so. Went and grabbed a pair off a friend...came back...same issue.

Odd. I can watch video (say you tube) or video saved on my computer. Yet once I launch into A2 I get a slight buzz backdrop noise distortion. Even on the main begining page. This noise only stays or increases once within a mission ... Just a constant buzz going on in the background.

Yet, with just my desktop speakers....there is no such noise at all.

  14. My audio runs fine no "buzzing" distortion when I don't have headphones in - Just my regular speakers - Yet when my headphones are plugged in, I get a constant buzzing???

This started happening after installing a new GTX 460 video card?? Likely related I am suspecting......But I puzzeled why it would only be with headphones on...and not also with my regular speakers?

Now I don't get this distortion noise, say if just watching a you tube video with my headphones on......only when inside the game

    Thanks for any advice...

  15. 500-600W power suply with at least 26-30A in the 12v line

And yes you have to connect those 2 6-pin connectors, the card should have come with some adaptors for the normal 12v connectors

Ok. Thanks for the info @Bobario @SpetS15

It did come with two adapters (power adapters). I just haven't opened up my Box to see where they connect to....Though, my 750 Power Supply box should have the slots for them to hook into - With one end hooked up to my power supply box...and the other ends hooked up to my GTX 460 (I think I got it...hopefully). Looking forward to getting home and getting it up and running.

Coming from an GeForce 8800GT 512MB..... Which didn't need this additional power supply adapters.....So somewhat new to me...

    Thanks again..

  16. My new GTX 460 came today - Looking forward to getting it home an installing (after work). Got a quick look of it before heading off to work this morning....

I noticed it came with 2 6-pin power connectors/adapters for the power supply?? Do I have to have these hooked up?? And if so, to where?

I have a 750 Power Supply box with my 720 XPS system. My other video cards didn't require additional power supply? Will my 750 Power Box be enough or do I need to hook up thise 6-pin power connector / adpaters as well?

Thanks for the advice / info...

  17. Please tell me how to turn off mouse acceleration in this game. My mouse feels perfect 1:1 in every other FPS I play except ArmA2. Don't tell me to turn it off in Windows and mouse driver software, cause it's already off.

I believe you turn off mouse acceleration within your Control Panel / Mouse properties of your computer (not within A2).
