  1. I sorta agree with Joe, only I never played PVP. The coop missions in OFP were great. All different, all engaging. And you needed teamwork, planning etc. If you died, you were out. Then came Domination (Fun at first) and similar missions and pushed you into 1 route to success. And that's pretty much where Coop has been since then. Patrol ops and invade & annex are just different flavors of the same thing. Probably why Life/wasteland/zombies are so big now. But what exactly are you asking for? Lets say Capture & Hold. Would a gamelogic object help in that case? Place it on map and it keeps track of how long a side has kept it etc. What if theres 1 enemy in that area? Would that still count as a 'captured' area? In a way I agree. If you want something in BIS games, you have to make it yourself and hope to God someone has made a tutorial about the thousand things you need to know.

    Beautiful pictures. BIS did a really good job copying the island. That town at night...really wish we had that ingame. Could have bullraces! =)

    Are you implying that you can't have an opinion on something if you did not beta-test it? Try to translate that to the real world (everything is in the real world but anyway...or did you dream this?). Say you buy a car, a brand new car. The engine falls off. You return it to the dealer. He asks if you drove it during development. You say 'No'. Dealer says ' Too bad, can't help you'. =)

    Crossing paths singleplayer

    I can't remember that mission at all, sorry. But to remove fatigue, you can use this mod http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=26813. Just move over the .pbo that says nofatigue or something. Installation instructions are on that page. If you are lazy, just move it to Addons-folder. But remember to move it out of there if you play online (which is one reason why custom modfolder is suggested). Another thing is...pressing keys next to 0 and backspace. One speeds up the game up to 4x faster, the other slows it back down to 1x. I use it all the time. I don't feel like sitting at my computer, pressing down W-key for 10+ minutes. Braindead acitivity.

    Great pc but bad video?

    From top to bottom ingame: 100%-150%. Renders more of the the scene, usually without any downsides performance-wise. Not sure about this but it could help if you experience hiccups when turning view. High Standard or high Terrain = Personal preference, low gets rid off grass which is why I use that. Standard doesnt have that parallax bug. High and above IIRC does have that bug where ground close to you looks weird, especially noticable while crawling. Shadow = High. So shadows are rendered on GPU instead. Low - How often do you look at clouds in a firefight? Yet they bring down FPS by a noticable amount. Low - Bigger the particledetail, the less FPS. Low - PIP. Haven't noticed much difference between settings visually, sometimes I turn it off completely. Mirrors are one prime exaple of PiP. HDR - Personal preference Dyn lights - low or standard for better FPS. 3rd page ingame: Personal but... Turned off blur, bloom. Sharpness 100+ Hbao, I can't see a difference between settings. AA - 2x or 4x BIGGEST EFFECT ON SCENE, I SEE THIS AS A MUST - TURN IT ON Everything looks lowres otherwise. SSAO - Same as Hbao. Can take FPS-hit on higher settings. I think when you have lots of shadows onscreen. Trees- Personal thing. Noticed Chernarus-trees look better with arrowhead-trees. Aniso - High or Ultra. The 2 settings I toy with most are SSAO and HBAO, if FPS tanks in some situation. If that doesn't help, lower visual/object distance and/or texture detail standard. Visual distance, definately don't use 12km. Something like 2-3km should suffice and 1.5-2km object distance. Shadow distance...200m looks best but theres an FPS-hit with that. Some houses 'faces' look better with shadow distance 200 and SSAO + HBAO at High. At least on my Nvidia-card (buggy, flickering texture-crap otherwise). What I like to test settings on is standing outside a big town, like Kavala, western side or the castle, at night. Theres shadows, lights are on, lots of objects etc. You can actually see most effects when you turn them down or up, is my point. Also what kinda FPS you can expect.

    How to use Simply select the units you want to give the commands for, and press numpad 9 key. You can change the keybind from the config file.

    AI Discussion (dev branch)

    AI or Artificial Idiots... If they could drive a tank and actually use roads once in a while. Worst is when they get stuck driving against a wall or similar but they still step on the gas time after time. Stuck forever. Until you give em an order to drive in the opposite direction. Why isn't that the default AI action? It is in every other game. Either AI is stooped like a stone or they are terminators. Of course I put AI in the gunner seat, every time. But I'm driving. And that is probably 5% of whats wrong with the AI.
  8. I'm getting some bugs, could be because of mods but anyway... 1. Calling in infantry via parachutes, Call support->teammates(para). They can sometimes land on roofs and get stuck there, still in that gliding thru air-animation. 2. Building a bunker and then choosing to put down an AI vehicle/weapon (static) always seems to end in that unit blowing up, either immediately or after 1 minute. Because another unit (same type) is spawned on the same spot. Same happens quite often with vehicles that spawn in the world, cars, trucks etc.
  9. What exactly do you get stuck on? A bit more info would be helpful. The 'hints'-part? "Now create another file inside the FockTest1.Stratis folder - called int.sqf." It should be INIT.SQF

  11. I have gotten performance issues. I probably hold 1/4th of the map, camps here and there but FPS is down to 10-15. Really hard to play. Anything I can do to alleviate the situation? Anything to think about before I start a new game? Thanks for the earlier answer about icons and whatever the other thing was (poor memory).

    Play co-op impossible.

    This is a workaround but have you tried via Tunngle? Your buddy hosts the game, passwords it and you join it. Very little hassle.

    massiv fps drop with AI firefight

    Another thing to note about Ragdoll. It makes soldiers invincible for a short period of time after being hit. Normally it doesn't matter but when you mow down enemy with a machine gun or similar rapid fire (Assault rifle on full auto), roughly only every 2nd bullet counts as a hit.
  14. Regarding that, where are the motorcycles? Or Motocrosses. OFP had them, so did Arma 1 and 2 IIRC. It was my preferred way of transportation. Felt more "ghetto" =). I feel the disappointment largely comes from the fact that Arma 3 was advertising a lot more water-based activity, submarines, divers etc than previous games yet it fell short. Few missions use much of anything water-related. Even rain is just a highly cosmetic thing (lines across the screen). There's no puddles, no buildings shiny from water landing on them. Rain does not affect soldiers. Or cars handling etc etc.

    What Pieces to Change to Increase FPS?

Running Arma on SSD did nothing, I was still lagging everytime I drove thru a town, just like with an HDD. FPS is exactly the same too (of course).
  16. I have an issue with previous version of WLA, not sure if it was fixed or not. The following happens: When I respawn, I usually have my teammates spawning next to me. Then it tells me all the objectives of the civilian missions (every time I respawn). I have 3 Civ missions or so. And when it's thru with that, takes a minute, I get respawned at same place again and loose all my teammates. Quite annoying. It's a nice mission but I have one additional question. What do all the icons mean? Red with an X thru it, some with just lines etc.

    Arma 2/3 started to lag.

    Not if you increase texture detail to High or better. I think also HDAO and/or SSAO will make the situation better. Low texture detail = further than 50 metres texture looks bad. Use HDAO/SSAO High, the texture is crisp from 150-200 metres at least. I have a GTX760, theres no performance hit at all enabling those two. Regarding the other thing, you could try playing with Visual/Object Distance and Terrain detail.

    I can only think of 2 possible things to test. Either re-install DirectX9 (above link). Or reinstall graphics card drivers. By completely removing them first, restarting computer, installing drivers again. You say it complains about some DLL (dynamic link library), are you using some special malloc.dll? Can find them here \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Arma 3\Dll\ I think "tbb3malloc_bi" or "tbb4malloc_bi" is the default.     Caps to mods?

    Making a shortcut and adding -mod=JSRS; etc has a limit which is why I use a batch-file to launch Arma. Make a textfile and call it whateverUwant.bat.     I don't mind the main menu but some things have gotten changed. Like for example the editor. It used to be that I could press ESC -> Space to shut it down but now Space doesn't work anymore because "Yes" isn't autoselected anymore. What was the point of removing that?

    https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3_Respawn Put down a Marker and in the Textfield/Namefield-whatever, type: respawn_west (or whichever side you are playing on). Thats where you will respawn. For ammoboxes at spawn I use ASORGS or VAS or both. Convenient that way. Then add the shit you need, listed on above webpage in Description.ext (in your missionfolder, create the file if it doesn't exist). If you are using AI, they are a bit strange when it comes to respawning. If I use a respawntimer greater than 0, AI will only respawn 3 times. Timer at zero = infinite respawns. If you want vehicles to respawn, theres a Support module called MP Respawn. Can't remember what it was under, Misc or something else. Set it up and drag the Synchronize/Link-thingie to all vehicles from the Support module.
