  1. I would like to see some larger maps for use with the fast jets beeing made. According to an earlier thread on this forum 25,6 km * 25,6 km and 51,2 km * 51,2 km maps is possible in the 1,75 engine. Why hasn't anybody made a map using this yet?

An easy solution would be to just make a very large desert or sea map with a airfield in each corner

  2. As far as I know models for fs2002 is made using gmax - that must mean that the creators of the addons has a "source file" in gmax' standard format - from before it was converted. If you get that from the designer of the addon, couldn't you convert that for use in OFP?

I know that its not real and it takes Galaxies to do it, but now atleast we have C130 could we make that be a air transporter?<span id='postcolor'>

The C-130 can carry M-113's, Hummers and jeeps.

There is a drawing at http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/c-130.htm showing the C-130 carrying 3 Hummer-sized vehicles. I also know that the C-130 carries and airdrops the M-113. I am pretty sure i've also seen a picture of a C-130 loading both a M-113 and a jeep-sized vehicle.

If we could get some cool Afghanistan units I'd be a happy man. I mean, not just the current units reskinned into 3 Color Desert BDUs. The uniforms and equipment those Marines wore into Afghanistan were just took cool. I wanted them for OFP really badly but no luck. Maybe someone could redo the M16A2s and Add a SAW and M16A4s (Marksman M16s with Full Auto, Scopes and a Flat-Top Reciever). Maybe even some M136s and Predator Launchers.

If we were REALLY lucky, we could have LAVs, Hummers, CH-53s, Sea Knights, UH-1N Hueys.

    Here is my WISH LIST:

    Afghanistan Pack 1.0

    Infantry:

    US Marine Infantry

-Standard Marine Infantry, Vests, Helmets (with camoflage netting), All newly modeled Web Equipment

-Army 101st Infantry (Similar to USMC Infantry but with a different LBV Configuration

-Embassy Units (USMC). Lightly Armed, Vests, Beanie Hats or Boonie Hats.

    -Special Forces

    -USAF Parajumpers

    -SEALs

-Aghanistan Army Infantry - (Resistance Side, Armed with AKs)

    -Taliban Infantry

    -Al Queda Mercenary

    Weapons:

    -Remodeled M-16A2

-Remodeled M4 w/ Scopes and such

    -M249 SAW

    -M136

    -Afghan Weapons (AK47, Yadda Yadda)

I Think Infantry Would be more important than armored units.

I've also been thinking long and hard about making a Mountain/Desert Combat map for Afganistan type missions. I don't know much about WRPedit but i'm willing to try it out. What do you guys think?

    -<span id='postcolor'>

    M249 SAW

Is already made. Don't remember where, but look around.

    M136

Is also made. Frandsen made it.

    M-16A4

From your description it sounds like it resembles the canadian made C7-OP which is used by Canada, Netherlands and Denmark. It is also made by Frandsen.

    LAV

    also made by Frandsen

    Hueys

Theres a lot of them around - grab the one you prefer.

    Remodeled M4 w/ Scopes

Also made - don't remember by who

There is already a Mortar out there.

There is already made a M101 which i have succesfully used at ranges up to 4 km and I know Frandsen has a M109 in the works.

You can probably get the Diemaco C7 and C8 that has bin made for the DDAM Mod. You should ask Frandsen who wrote a post earlier in this thread.

  9. After doing some testing using OFP: Resistance and the original OFP (ver. 1.46) I have concluded the following:

1: In resistance there is still the problem tha you can only walk 3 or 4 steps on roofs at a time.

2: In resistance there is the benefit that you seem to "sink in to the roof" a little less. Choppers also benefit from this.

3: In resistance you have the benefit that the helicopter doesn't rise when flying over bulidings, thus making the drop-off easier.

  10. You could, to some extent, lay on the roofs in OFP-classic and the way to get there is to have a Helicopter pilot hover over there while you jump down to the roof. The best solutions, however, is to get OFP-Resistance with the improved collision which i think might even work on the original islands.

    I agree with ALDEGA.

Sorry guys but in-flight refueling just isnt for OFP.

1.) Map sizes.....its just way too small however way you throw the dice.

2.) Unrealistic to have a F16, or UH60 or whatever enter into a combat zone with so little fuel that after 12 miles it will have to refuel.

3.) OFP just isnt a flight simulator....

Agh, anyway, if ya can MOD it and it works, good on ya, but if other more realistic and fun MODs/ADDONs can be made i'd suggest devoting time to them instead.

Although that new game ....think its called "Soldat: Secret Wars" will have somehting like 6000KM x 6000KM maps and together with a *well i've only looked it at over the weekend and so far it looks like funky stuff* very good scripting/programming language called PYTHON (www.python.org) such mods might be real easy to do.<span id='postcolor'>

    I disagree:

1.) The OFP engine supports engines up to the size of 4*4 of the original islands which means 51.2 x 51.2 km islands which should be enough for refueling a plane. See http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....78;st=0 for details

2.) If you play a 12 or 24 hour multiplayer game (which has been discussed - to emulate "real war" better - even a 3 or 6 hour game could need air refueling) you might want to have a F-16 in the air all the time to deliver close air support whenever it is needed.

3.) The great thing about OFP is that it is a flight simulator, a helicopter simulator,a tank simulator, a AA gun simulator, a boat simulator, a car simulator, a infantry combat simulator, a special forces actions simulator and a guerilla simulator - all in one. I am one of many people which has been waiting for years for this to happen. (Remember fantasizing about this in 1996 when i had a 100 MHz Pentium.)

I do agree that the flight simulator part could need some extra work, but that is only on the "inside feeling" of flying the plane. In the "All-out-combat simulator" the planes (when viewing from the outside) are just fine the way they are.

  12. It has also been discussed earlier how to make a AC-130. The solution found then was to make one gunner control all the weapons - actually making one of the guns fire all the ordnance.

  13. If you are going to make new hangars for the airfield I would like to see that the openings is actually large enough for the planes to get in and out. A control tower would be nice. It would be easy to add small (and larger) clearings in the middle of forests, suitable for LZ's. I would also like to see roads in the forest with the trees really narrow around the road, perfect for ambushes and minefields. I would also like to see small streams. We got that large river/inlet on Nogova and the small strait on the airfield island to the north of Nogova, but I still miss to see a small river/stream with more bridges across it.

The M1 Garand uses Clips. When you fire the last round the clip is ejected into the air.

  16. First I want to thank you for making a great addon. The flying model is really great, but i do consider the fire-rate on the AH-6 buggy.

    </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Adammo @ July 03 2002,23:47)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">The firerate of the M134 on the AH6j is military spec.

I spend an hour working on the fire-rate to get it perfect.

If you want to change it.. go ahead.. but it won't be real.

    Capt Moore<span id='postcolor'>

The problem is that it isn't military spec. ingame - try to do the following experiment:

Place a littlebird in the game with you as gunnerand fire until the counter reaches a nice round number like 2600.

Then use your watch or the one in the game (on the t-key) to fire for one minute precisely. After one minute only around 600 bullets has disapeared, which means that the rate of fire on each of the miniguns is around 300 rounds/minute. As you can see that is quite a bit lower than the specified 2000/4000/6000 rounds/minute.

Another problem is that the rate of fire seems to be dependant on the skill-level of the gunner. That means that if you are the pilot and set the skilllevel of the gunner to the lovest possible the rate of fire drops to around 260 rounds/minute which means 130 rounds/minute for each gun. I can fire rapid semi-auto fire faster than that on the G3 i used in the army (although only the first 20 shots). On the other hand if you set the skill-level of the crew to the highest possible it doesen't seem to affect rate of fire: 600 rounds/minute whether you are pilot with a gunner in the aircraft, pilot without a gunner in the aircraft or gunner in the aircraft.

Edit: Yes - i did use the CTRL-key and/or the fire key on my joystick.

In the army i was tought that the M109's armour only offered protection against small arms fire and shrapnels. The ADATS shouldn't be more protective..

  19. We had a road race around the lake this weekend with 12 participants and a 4 person supporting crew (chopper pilots and medics) - it was hilarious. I just wish I had won - there was some really cool sunglasses for the winner.
