  2. Hi

    By accident i discovered that the motorcycles with their driver can stay under water for virtually unlimited amounts of time. I tried driving under water - accelerating the time to 4x and leaving it there - 25 ofp-minutes later the vehicle still wasn't destroyed. You can't drive deep though - when you try to drive from the desert island to the island south of it the vehicle is destroyed and you get killed. The bad part of this is that it could be used as a cheat, making it possible to hide underwater or bypass enemy lines underwater. The good part is that if it doesnt get fixed the bug may be taken advantage of to make an underwater scooter which then should be made RRReeealllllyyy slow on land to reflect the fact that it cant go there. It would feel more real than the diving suits released, when you could "Get in underwater jet as driver" instead of "get in diving suit as driver".


  3. There is the difference between the maps, that nogova uses a 25 m grid. To my knowledge the engine didn't fully support 25 m grid maps before 1.75. If that is right, 1.46 user won't be able to use the map, and a edited version could safely be released. But i may be missing something. Do we have any staements from BIS on this subject?


  4. A kevlar helmet might in some cases stop a bullet. Things that might be stopped includes:

    - Small caliber low powered ammunition such as 7.62 mm handgun ammunition might be stopped.

    - Small hunting-size shotgun pellets might be stopped

    - Rifle ammunition which has penetrated something or is rebounding after hitting the ground or a wall.

    - Ammunition which has travelled a long way might be stopped. Stray bullets might travel several kilometres, but at that range they will have reduced speed.

    - Extreme angels of impact might make the bullets deflect of.

    But generally a kevlar wont stop a bullet.

  7. I keep returning to ambush time and again. Every time i introduce someone to OFP i use Ambush because of its atmospere and the fact that you get a idea about the scale of the terrain. I love those big rolling hills on Malden. It is by far the best terrain i have ever seen in a 1st person game and was a great reason why I was convinced this was a game I had to own. I myself play this mission every time i want to judge a change in graphics, either because of the engine or because i have changed a setting or installed new hardware.

    If you plan to give the ADATS an overhaul, how about making it with a chassis on which it has actually been made. That could be the M113 which to my knowledge is the only used mobile platform for the ADATS (in Canada).

    Errmm... - The shilka uses a sligthly modified PT-76 chassis. You can see that from http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/row/zsu-23-4.htm and http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/row/pt-76.htm .

    On the other hand i see nothing suggesting that the tunguska should use the same chassis on these pages:

  10. It's more realistic the way it is now since that is the way soldiers are supposed to report IRL. Like "Armor 2 o' clock" instead of "AAARRG save us - they are coming in tanks". I reckon it would be good with a little more emotion in the most tense situations, but the missionmaker should script that where it is needed.


  11. If you want underwater reefs you will have to design new islands. Currently all there is under the water is sand. If you would like to see it try raising the land in WRPedit so there is no sea anymore. then you can try flying around over it ingame.

    Looks cool - while you're at it how about version with a Loud-speaker on the side and a script for playing ride of the valkyries......

    When I was trained on the M2 we were told our main target was enemy IFV's. That would primarily be BMP's. And that is only with normal FMJ bullets. I expect that you can easily pierce any BMP with AP bullets.

    2: USMC doesn't have Chinooks. They have UH-1N Huey, CH-46E Sea Knight, CH-53D Sea Stallion, CH-53E Super Stallion and AH-1W Super Cobra. Of these I know the following is available for OFP:

    UH-1N Huey:

    Several flavours of Hueys are available. I dont know if any of these are the N version, but either that can be ignored or someone can modify the existing Hueys.

    CH-46E Sea Knight:

    On http://www.concept-5.com/ballistic/ you can follow the work being done on a sea knight.

    CH-53D Sea Stallion and CH-53E Super Stallion:

    I'm not avare of these being developed for OFP. Anybody?

    AH-1W Super Cobra:

    You could use the original Cobra in the game (don't know which version it is) or have it modified to be a better representation.

    Noticed this problem with all variants of the BMP (BMP, BMP2, BMP (resistance)). When you try to drive up into the dock you just drive through the ships floor.
