  2. I would like to see join in progress. Not that i think that it is how every multiplayer game should be, but in som circumstances it could be a nice option to missionmakers. It would make one of my wet dreams come true: a 12, 24 or 48 hour OFP game, making fatigue being a real factor on the players, and allowing the players to get the full potential from the change of day/night in OFP. This is teoretically possible today, but every time someone had a crash, they would be out of the game for the last 10 hours (or something like that) - that's when i need join in progress.

What was the purpose of this? Is this the remnant of some kind of test? I hope it isn't the complete waste of time it appears to be.

Please fix the @#+*$^*(*%^!!! game's bugs and stop fooling around.

Was I dictating to them? I asked a question. I find someone spending the time to make WW1 airplanes and bicycles in light of the current situation with the OFP engine a bit strange.

I mean, they could have put a turret on the BRDM2, or maybe a TOW launcher on the Humvee, or add a Russian heavy machine gun, or the countless other things we have actually been asking for and could use. But no, instead we got a bicycle and an obsolete airplane that doesn't fit into the OFP time period.<span id='postcolor'><span id='postcolor'>

NO DOUBT!! Since the release of 1.90 game play on-line has become a complete joke! I'm not even gonna mention how screwed up things have gotten with 1.91. There are atleast 10 TOP quality people creating addon's for this game... INCLUDING BI-PLANES! With that in mind, you would think BIS would be concentrating on the patches... not useless models!Besides the game is called: Operation Flashpoint 1985, NOT 1930's!

You guys released O2 for modellers... Since then they have taken this game to new heights. They are doing what they do best... models. Why not concentrate on doing what you do best? OPF IMHO is the best to EVER hit the market PERIOD-HANDS DOWN! But it seems that with ever patch released on-line game play gets a whole new bag of worms and with 1.90 has become all but unplayable. 160 maps on the server we played with 1.75, yet now with 1.90 we can only play 5 of them because of false addon messages that crash everyone back to the lobby, or to their desktops! Now with 1.91 it's gotten even worst, if you can imagine that. Most all the official league maps now have ammo pouches that spawn by the hundreds until the game is so lagged out NO1 can play even with 4Ghz machine... Sad but true! All we wanted for Christmas was a patch that actually worked... What did we get? A bi-plane... aka lump of coal... wow, thx alot Santa.

PS... to all you ass kisser's that told me to STFU... Have fun playing with your new toy and fighting AI in SP mode... I could careless about SP mode. May comments were to those who bought this game to play on-line against humans... something your not capable of. You Polly Annie one liners have no effect on me. Fact is you prolly could'nt fight your way out of your own house...<span id='postcolor'>

You seem to miss the point that its two almost independent groups within bis doing the models and the coding. Making several thousand bicycles, WW1 planes and ugly small cars (and whatever model you want to bitch about) doesn't affect the speed at which engineproblems may be fixed, since its programmers fixing the engine - not the artists.

Mads Bahrt you must be a really big guy.

I weigh 90 kgs and have been trained and trained others on both these weapons. I would not consider the weapon load you describe as normal.

    Each AT4 weighs 6,7 Kg.

Carl Gustav weighs 14,2 Kgs empty.

Every grenade weighs ca 3,5 kgs.

On top of that you have your Assult rifle which weighs some 4,5 kgs including one mag. Each extra mag weighs around 0,6 kg.

Maybe if you are using armour to carry you into battle, your load would do, but using regular foot infantry, that humps several klicks per day....

My opinion regarding capacity of GRG in OFP.

GRG shooter should only be able to carry the launcher plus one grenade.

There should be a designated GRG-loader, which carries 4 or 6 GRG grenades. 4 if he can move fast and 6 if the sprint function is turned off.

    Hmm

    Changed my mind.

If the OFP soldier can carry 4 mines á 10 kgs and sprint so why not sprint with 6 GRG grenades anyway.<span id='postcolor'>

I'm not that big - when i served in the danish army i weighed between 90 and 100 kg.

I was trained on the AT4 too. And its not that big a problem to run around with two AT4's on your back. It's not easy - but not impossible. The GRG gunners in my platoon did carry two rounds. The loader then carried 4-6 rounds. They were heavyly loaded but they managed to make it work. The new M3 variety of the Carl Gustav only weighs 8.5 kg.

As to whether it is possible to carry 4 mines at 10 kg each IRL - no problem: When laying minefields by hand (was a combat engineer) i usually picked up 6 mines of 10 kg kg each. To be true - you can't run more than a few hundred metres at full speed, and you've got your rifle on your back so you can't shoot while doing this. In comparison if one of your buddies got wounded you might have to carry him out on your back - and most soldiers with combat equipment weighs more than 100 kg.

I do like your idea of removing the sprint capability, since it is not possible to achieve the same speed loaded with the equipment discussed above, as without it.

    i have a question.

I have not had an enjoyable experience with flying planes in OPF/RES. Is there a way to set the throttle to 100% ? When I fly, I have to use my right hand on the joystick and my left hand holding/pressing the throttle key (UP Cursor). This is annoying.

In most flight simulators, you can press a key once to set its throttle to 100%. I can't seem to do this in OPF.

    any help there?<span id='postcolor'>

There is a way - use a joystick with a throttle slider.

I understand that if you only play a little while or join a sever your mind can go "wtf is a soldier?".. but i can't see it would be such great problem and i still say it is mostly a swedish mod.

But i was thinking of a nordic mod. Like we are some in sweden doing swedish work, research and stuff. I know there are some in finland, and denmark, norway should be able to gather some people too. Then it would be possible to give players more, and bringen them the nordic armies. just thinking out loud...thanks for all replies and stuff. It really fun to see people notice your work.

and for the "cooperate with operation white night" me and mellis has talked but nothing decided. Time will tell whats happens.<span id='postcolor'>

I'm really impressed with what you've made. I know Frandsen, who among other things are making the danish mod DDAM and i've suggested him that he talked to you since:

    - Your AT4 (Panserskott m/86 or in denmark known as panservćrnsvĺben m/95) it cooler and more accurately modeling the real thing than the one i DDAM right now. I like the fact that it doesnt take up more than two slots in the inventory since it's not uncommom to carry two of these and 6 mags.

    - Your Carl Gustav (GRG m/48) also closer to the real one than the one in the game since the shooter can carry 2 grenades which is quite normal IRL. I also like the fact that you've made both AP and HE rounds for it - lik IRL. Have you thought about making light grenades and smoke grenades too? Maybe the HE is a little too powerfull - i took out a whole russian group (with the exception off 1 man) with one shot - im not sure if this is realistic, but im not trained on this weapon myself, so i can't judge om this.

    - Your m45b is ok. i did notice a problem consisting of the fact that i can't hit while "aiming" (key v), but i hit very easy while shooting from normal view.

It might be because the model used in denmark is slightly different, but the front sighting aid is different from the one i've seen in denmark (otherwise the same weapon).

Generally i like that you correct the errors that BIS made in the game - grenades only taking one slot instead of two etc. It might tilt the balance a little, but i really hate the fact that im not able to take two grenades for the carl gustav in the game, when i can IRL. So keep up the good work.

Suggestions: Put extra ammo for the groups weapons in the PBV501.

And make the ranks realistic. I am sure that captains don't lead infantry groups even in Sweden... The leader should be a sergant, if sweden follows the pattern from the rest of the world.

You might want to consider putting your units under resistance instead to reflect the fact that Sweden is neutral. In that way it will be more easy to simulate both a border conflict with norway/denmark and a full scale soviet invasion.

    Mads

    [edit]

And by the way - your standard group can't fit inside their vehicle. Is that how it is in Sweden - the last two men doubletiming behind the vehicle? Or do you just squeeze two more into the vehicle? Or is the group in the game larger than IRL?

    [/edit]

  11. Has anyone developped any good aiming tecniques?

I tried doing if with a 45 degree divebombing, and i did succeed in destroying the factory, but it took all of the first bombload and nearly all of the second.

Post your suggestions for aiming bombs.

I found out it worked to go in high, make a bombing dive and in that way to gain some speed. Then with the high speed you have achieved you run away while staying close to the ground and doing evasive maneuvers. At the first chance you dissapear behind a terrain object.

My main conclusion was that the easiest way to get killed is to be too slow.

  19. I haven't tried using a wheel, but did consider buying one recently since they where really cheap. But i do use joystick in ofp. I find that it is easier to control planes using the mouse, but uses the joystic for making really wild manuevers in the plane. On the other hand i wouldn't want to fly choppers without my joystick again. It makes it possible to do a lot of things i wouldn't be able to do otherwise, like droppingpeople of at rooftops, quick wingover landings or similar things. I wouldn't be able to hover as easily without autohover if it wasn't for the stick either.

  20. I do remember playing the demo on:

    K6-2 350 MHz

    192 MB RAM

    16MB Voodoo Banshee

    Then i got a:

    Duron 700 MHz

    192 MB RAM

    16 MB TNT2 M64

just in time to ply the demo for a couple of weeks while waiting for the full game to be released. It was quite ok, though there might have been more RAM on the gfx-card.

After playing OFP for some time (around 1.30) i got a upgrade to 512 MB RAM.

While waiting for OFP-RES (around 1.60 MP-beta) i got a All in wonder Radeon with 32MB DDR-RAM (no not the 7500 or the 8500 or later - the original radeon chip being nearly similar to the 7200 Radeon).

Today i am still playing resistance on:

    Duron 700 MHz

    512 MB RAM

32 MB All in wonder Radeon.

And i am quite happy with it. I have considered picking up a duron 1300 since they are cheap as dirt, but apart from that i don't really feel the need to make any upgrades.

    Offtopic:

Why don't you use one installation and the -mod switch in the commandline loading the game.

    It's quite easy:

Make a library for each "modpack" you will use, with the name you want to call that modpack (example WW2). Make a subdir in each moddirectory called addons. Then put the desired addons in the addons subdirs. Then take a copy of your "Flashpoint Resistance" shortcut and rename it to the modpacks name. Then edit the commandline of the shortcut so it says -mod=modname where modname is the name of the directory the addons where put in. In that way you can keep your main addons directory "clean" and save a lot of trouble and memory.
