Since resistance is out - can we get the littlebird somewhere?
-
Forgot to mention - you ask for WW2 German soldiers - that has also been made. - I don't remember where I saw them though..

Those were really high quality addons. But how come nobody else has made anything like that? For example why has no one made a Nazi soldier addon with a realistic looking Nazi helmet? Another good soldier addon would be a U.S. Army or U.S. Marine Drill Sgt. addon. How about more civilians? How about sailors for ships? How about soldiers in Class A dress uniforms?
How about police officers (wearing a regular police uniform and pistol belt with a pistol, cuffs, nightstick, pepper spray, radio,ect...)???
There are tons of soldier/civilian units that could be made. With the new pistol addon in Resistance I imagine that something like a NYPD or LAPD police officer addon would definitely be possible.
Has anyone thought of doing this?

Maybe you should just look around and see all the new soldiers that actually have been made. A good place to start would be:
http://www.ofpeditingcenter.com/addon_depot/view_type.asp?type=3
There is also some nice units at
http://talesofwar.ofpmatch.com/
And players from many countries around the world are modelling their armies own uniforms. The Danish Army (which is where I served) is modeled here:

I will keep you informed - maybe even post pictures during the party.
-
We plan to use OFP:R to some extent and we hope to make it possible to buy it at the party.

The point is that MBT's are not evenly armored all over their body. Especially on the top the are more vulnerable, which is also a thing some ATGM's take advantage of. I wouldn't rule out that even a spray of 20 mm might do the job, if it hits the MBT on top of the turret. MBT's are primarily designed to take on other MBT's, not aircraft - thats why.

Yepp, it was a trick question

Since playing around with wrpedit, I have gained new respect for BIS. Even if they have better tools, it must have taken an enormous time to build the very detailed OFP islands.<span id='postcolor'>
I too, but didn't they use real world data for the job of shaping the landscape? (like kolgujev=tenerife) Personally i would consider that the best way to provide a realistic scenery. When you have imported the terrain to the editor the landscape itself is done. There is still a big work in making forests, placing bulidings, roads and plants. I wonder where Nogova lies IRL.

Update:
Coca Cola sponsored 120L of (can anyone guess it?) Coca Cola.
McDonalds sponsored 10 burgers.
We still don't know if we'll get anything from the danish distributor of OFP, but it is likely.
The english translation is now available (and has been it for quite a while).

I'm tired and disapointed of Creative myself, so next time i buy a soundcard it will be Terratec or Hercules. If I should buy one today, it would either be Hercules Game Theater XP 6.1 or a variant of Terratec's DMX 6fire.

What loadouts do you plan to make?

Considering the time it takes to make CD's and ship them around the world to distributors which ships them to retailers, I would guess that it is a little late to request changes for Resistance. The first CD's are probably already made at the factory.

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (CBFASI @ June 16 2002,21:53)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Bigger islands sound great but heres an alternative question.
If a normal island in 12.8km has 256x50m elevation points across can we have say 1024x12.5m elevation points.
Thus not bigger but with finer elevation data.
Is this possible??
If so then it opens a very very big door to those wanting dykes, sunken roads etc........<span id='postcolor'>
One of the officially published enhancements in resistance is that the landscape has twice the resolution of the original islands. That must mean: 12.8 km in 512x25m
So i would think that your idea of making a 1024x12.5m wouldn't be that far out. I do see the limitation that is posed by the amount of RAM used. The amount of RAM used as indicated by Suma must be the same for an island of higher resolution but of the same size:
12.8 km in 128x50m = 4 MB
12.8 km in 512x25m = 16 MB
12.8 km in 1024x12.5m = 63 MB
To Suma - is this true or did I miss something?
The problem arises when you go to the next step. If the neded amount of RAM, as it looks, develops as a function of x^2 then there would be some reason to assume that the map using 2048x2048 squares woul use approximately 256MB RAM. I remeber reading somewhere else, that the engine cannot utilize more than 256 MB RAM. If that limit still persist then, once the map was loaded, there wouldn't be any space left for all the other information needed by the game.
Suma - Is this a true assumption and do that limit still exist?
More generally i would like to know how well the engine performs on larger mapsizes and the limitations on the mapsize. Would it be possible to drop resolution to 100m and in that way make a 102,4km * 102,4km map possible?

Based on Frandsens/RavenDK's other work I would say the vehicle is trying to look/emulate the reconnaissance vehicles of the danish army. The reason the MG42 is used is that it is still in use in the later 7.62 version MG3 (or LMG/62 as it is known in denmark). One little detail is that the LMG (to my knowledge) should be lying on the front of the vehicle, with the gunner sitting in the passenger seat. I guess there is some kind of technical problem preventing that.

Whats wrong with http://www.ofpeditingcenter.com/addon_depot/default.asp ? They do exactly what you're asking for.

I heard that the hovercraft (which i called an LCAC) is in the works. The source is quite reliable and breaths a lot of Oxygen....
-
To make jumps larger than 63 men you just have to make a joint jump for west and resistance - that gives you 126 men. Whether it will run well in the game is another question...

The advantage the Tank has over the shilka is that he will get a chance to fire back at the infantry that sneaks up on him. The shilkas armor is so thin that one shot is enough. In a battle between a tank and a shilka there is no need for a follow-up shot for the tank if he hits the first time - then the shilka will be permanently dead.

But yeah we always fired it either from a firing position (like a trench) or sitting on the ground on our ass, or kneeling. But then again I was also in the Army Reserve and in an engineering unit that did not fire nearly as often as an active duty infantry unit for example.
I actually just checked the U.S. Army M2 manual (FM 23-65) and indeed it does show a prone position of firing. I'd probably need some sandbags under me though because I don't think I could get my head aligned with the sites. But I'm also a small guy. At any rate, for GFX 707, the manual is at:
http://www.adtdl.army.mil/cgi-bin/atdl.dll/fm/23-65/ch5.htm#s2p6
In that manual is also the sitting position I mentioned.<span id='postcolor'>
You can sit too, but then you would just make an easier target to the enemy without actually gaining anything from it. It's just a question of how high you make the tripod.
Another thing:
GFX - you can see the way you could combine your new tripod with your trenches in figuger 5-4 in Miles link. In a mobile war you wouldn't have the time required to make a pillbox such as the one in your bunkerpack 3 and it would also make you easier to spot as a target. You would instead use it as pictured in figure 5-4. So my suggestion is: Make another trench-element like the straight one with a M2 mounted on the side.

Matrox new chipset Parheliaâ„¢-512 will support 3 screens, and hopefully it will have the power to get Matrox back in the 3D-game. Read some reviews when they appear and judge for yourself if it is powerfull enough for you.

anyone know....? There is stuff like ManActM2Gunner, ManActPBRDriver etc. but I don't think there is one for a guy lying down<span id='postcolor'>
Actually it's normally fired from a sitting position with the gunner's feet planted again the tripod or with the gunner kneeling or sitting cross-legged. I don't think any of those animations have the soldier with his hand sticking out like he's holding the weapon however.
The only one like that is for the door gunners and drivers, but those place him too high off the ground.

Last time i fired the M2 the "normal thing" was to lie down behind it like the man on the picture. If you are in a trench you would stand behind it. I don't know where you got your experience with the M2, but it's possible that they do it differently in different armies. I Denmark we lie down behind them.
