    How might this run arma 2?

    New system i'm thinking of putting together.

    I'm looking into buying a new game/workstation to run Arma 2 and photoshop/3ds max with a lot of multitasking going on.

    This is what i was thinking:

    Intel Core i7 950

    I want to add another video card in the near future but i'm still up in the air about getting the EVGA GTX 460 X2 or the Sapphire 5850 x2. What would be best for arma?

    Also do you guys think i could run this with a 600 watt psu? 850 might be a bit much. I might add another 6 gigs soon and the second video card.

    Might switch the Scythe mugen 2 for a corsair H70? With no oc'ing no more cooling should be needed i hope:)

    First system i've built in a while so i'm not to sure, any comments/tips would be appreciated.

    Right you are. No other mods present in the directory, no other addons installed in the standard addon folder and as you can see nothing except the beta in the target line.

    I thought it might be because of some non-bis addon in the addon folder but its all pure in there.

    "C:\Program files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -mod=beta

    I'm having some problems playing Arma2 on my computer, the full retail game and the demo are both unplayable when my computer is connected to the internet. The screen hangs for a few seconds and then runs fine for 10-20 seconds before hanging again.

    I thought it might be because of my firewall/antivirus and tried shutting it all down including windows firewall, but still no joy. Only when i pull the network cable from my pc does the game play normal.

    I'm thinking its a windows 7 64bit problem and offcourse i cant play online now:rolleyes:

    Anybody else had this happen to them?

    Well i think the problem with the OFP mod was that all the content was ripped from Halo CE. So remember kids create your own content, it might just be better than crappy pc rips.

    Not that microsoft will allow any mod on halo atm wink_o.gif

    But i too have thought about creating some content for Arma from the halo universe allready started a warthog just to see how good i could get it to move in Arma.

    Hehe, i do 6+ years of OFP/Arma has tought me that wink_o.gif  I'v always been a huge fan of the BIS games but even i am getting ticked off by the flaws in this game. Flaws that have been present in OFP/Resistance in Arma an i know wil be in Arma 2!

    And yes Arma does have it's flaws true fans must admit that and i do, i just hope that BIS wil get these types of things fixed before they release Arma 2 and not waiste time on creating "realistic" environments when the core functions of the engine are still basically the same as 7 years ago.

    Just got my copy yesterday, jezus what a mess i cant even get past the first mission in the royal flush campaign because my commander keeps getting hit. But i guess you cant fix a addon if the original game is still broken.

    Example: Me with an AK and an enemy 50 meters away with an AK, i go thru 1 clip and hit nothing he shoots me between the eyes with one bullet thru a cloud of grenade smoke.

    You got alot of AI work to do before Arma 2 is released guys.

    I for one dont mind Arma 2 coming out in a year or 2 mainly because arma was so cheap to purchase wink_o.gif I do love arma as i did OFP but i do agree with some of the comments made on this board BIS needs to step it up with Arma 2.

    And of addons, if we can port stuff over to Arma 2 without much effort it could really strenghten the modding community between the 2 games. If anyone still plays arma that is.

    What ever happend to those working elevators in the hotels? I remember seeing them in some press video's just before Arma was released but havent heard anything since then.

    I dont really play the campaign so i have no idea if they do work in those missions.

    Might there be a script that triggers the use of these things in the editor/user mission.

    Yeah i think most "normal" player use those common sence tactics, however i missed this option in OFP since day1 and was sad to see it missing from Arma also.

    So OK maybe i was talking about those special situations where your finger slips due to a "Chitto related Accident" whistle.gif

    BTW this would not be such a stupid feature for the legion of people who dont seem to understand that you cant start shooting in circles in your own base pistols.gif I think i got TK about 20 times last night playing Evo0 Maybe with a safety feature they will get the message.

    Right so i was playing Arma multiplayer today, for the first time ever (very cool btw) And in one mission on the base "safe zone" my finger slipped onto the primary mouse button and i almost blew a team members head off biggrin_o.gif

    So why dont the Arma weapons have a safety switch? it would be simple to add a new magazine to the config so the weapon starts with the saftey on and this would prevent friendly fire in safe areas.

    Why hasn't this been modded in yet? even i could do this and i suck at scripting whistle.gif

    What do people think about this? discuss minions!!!!

    HAHA! problem solved i went out yesterday and bought 3GB of Geil Ram and a Asus 8800GTS 640MB now arma runs like a dream. Pretty much all settings on high or very high and viewdistance at about 3800 biggrin_o.gif

    A lot of cash but so worth it.

    TIP!! never ever buy a 8500 or other silent cooled card.
