    HAHA! problem solved i went out yesterday and bought 3GB of Geil Ram and a Asus 8800GTS 640MB now arma runs like a dream. Pretty much all settings on high or very high and viewdistance at about 3800 A lot of cash but so worth it. TIP!! never ever buy a 8500 or other silent cooled card.

    Thing is my budget was not very big so that why i went for the 8500 however i would have thought it would perform better than my asus n6600 on my old computer but that didnt seem to be the case. Check this out. My old computer: MSI k8 neo platinum 2 motherboard 1 Gigs Ram (kingston value ram pc3200 400) AMD 64 3200+ processor Asus N6600 AGP video card DirectX 9.0c Newest Nvidia forceware drivers (158.22) Windows XP professional SP2 My new computer: AMD Athlon 64 X2 AM2 Dual Core 4600+ 2 Gigs Ram (MBT) 800 DDR2 (this might be carp?) Asus M2N-E SLI Motherboard 3d-club 8500GT DirectX 9.0c Newest Nvidia forceware drivers (158.22) Windows XP professional SP2 And not 1% performance increase in ANYTHING! Ok half-life 2 might run just a smidge faster but thats about it. Arma plays worse and my pc doesnt seem to respond faster to anything. I ran 3Dmark 2006 and got an avarege of 5FPS and in the last 2 tests 0-1 FPS?? and ran sisoftware sandra lite XI and found out my computer just about blows chunks. I might be a bit pissed off right now

    Thanks for the comments guys, i was shocked with the numbers i got running armamark on my 8500GT so i want to be sure ill get some nice performance when buying another card in the 8000 series.

    Ok i'm now thinking of just buying an asus 8800GTS 640mb however with my current settings i only get 1033.12!! on arma mark??     Mhhm yes i thought it might be a refresh rate problem with my monitor (samsung syncmaster 710n) However it did not happen on my old GFX card so i might still return my current card for another type. What would give me better performance in arma than this 8500GT?

    'Mechs, Anyone?

    Has it been confirmed that there wont be a MW5? Anyway i've done some concept/gameplay brainstorming and was thinking about adding a sort of resource mode to the multiplayer where there is a commander for each side who would have to control the units under his command and the resources [like scrap or raw materials] and use these to build more mechs or upgrade the old ones. So in this multiplayer mode a group would just start off with a command mech and a mobile field HQ/factory to build a mech or more additions for the fieldbase [like turrets or radar] So when a force becomes strong enough with plenty of mechs/pilots it could start taking over city's that could be controlled by the AI or other rival groups/clans. So really get the whole clan gameplay going and people could even create the own clans IRL and get custom painted mechs. I got some more great idea's and was wondering what you guys would like to see in a BT mod [especially in multiplayer/co-op] Offcourse i'm keeping the lore in mind and not breaking from it to much

    Sentry: Â Yep this model is mine, i used pawel's model as a picture ref because there was so little good info on the vulture omnimech, pawel's work is great but my version of the vulture is a lot cleaner and has more detail [thank the Zbrush gods] Most if not all models you get from those scifi model sites are complete crap when your trying to use them for generating normal maps so i needed to create a clean mesh. Looks about he same i know, but i beefed my model up a bit. trust me i'm the last person that would ever steal work from other artists [because it happend to me a few times ]

    Ikavadas: Â The problem with animation in operation flashpoint was that you could only create animations where the selection would rotate around 1 defined axis and multiple axis for 1 selection (foot or leg) was not possible. So when creating a mech in OFP you were very limited in what you could move at any single time, even with the help of heavy scripting it looked weird at best Now if Arma supports full vehicle animation with bones/custom rig it would be very easy to create a set of anims that would fit multiple mechs of the same size and aproxamate configuration. We will just have to wait and see. BTW here is a WIP pic of the Vulture, the pic is almost a year old and the vulture has been completed but i'm on my laptop now and this is the only media i have atm.

    I've actually been working on a MechWarrior mod for Arma since last year and have some units done. I'm still in the hope that arma wil support skeletons/bones for vehicles though i havent seen anything that will suggest that complex anims are possible for any class other than soldier/units. Some word from BIS on this would be great BTW Models/textures/normals Done are: Vulture Timberwolf Madcat And models for Uziel and Cougar and some other stuff I've also got some great concepts and idea's for the story and gameplay, but i'll only start releasing content when i know the engine can support what i'm planning.

    Anyone for scuba? Haha, seems Arma can even serve as a simulator for those of us who want to be superman Just some fun in the editor, i really think naval warfare in Arma is going to be a lot more fun than in OFP, next step navy seals and rebreathers

    Like the pack. however i'd say the textures are a bit bland, they seem way to saturated and just dont look real. However i was watching the new VBS2 video and seemed to me the hummer was the same "base" model used in Arma. When i saw that the trunk could be opend i took a look at the trunk on the arma hummer and the trunk seems to also be able to open [The selections might still be in the model file] "SO"! if this is the case and someone could find out the name of the trunk selection and the name of the trunk axis, a useraction could be added to the config and we could have trunks on the hummers that open Maybe bis could give us a hint if the trunk was indeed ment to be animated at some point in the development period and what the name of that selection might be if its still in the model.

    Looks great so far, but why does the DHD and the gate still have different textures? the are both composed of naquada and should pretty much have the same color, wel except for the tauri gate wich seems to always be a bit cleaner than the offworld gates Your gates always reminded me of the stargate from the movie, a bit cleaner and metalic looking.

    Haha, the biggest bitch is i had to download my OWN star wars addons again I did have some problems with this addons also, it ran fine when i had a clean OFP install with RES but the moment i added other addons it started to lagg like hell.

    Great post, very nice. I myself am currently running Arma on a old rig and feeling the pain Same as with OFP it will probably take another 3/4 years before people's hardware catch up to Arma's standards if not more, i still cant play OFP with the viewdistance set to more than 50%

    LOVE IT! most interesting addon i've seen for Arma to date I was also thinking of creating a SF out of the crewman however i dont have the time atm, finish this puppy. btw Seems a lot of noobs are angry that the arma scene's addon count isn't up to the OFP level yet, but hey! Shame on you addonmakers for not releasing all that cool content even before the modtools are out and the game not even being released in the US. However some of you people might not know that addonmakers are infact NOT GOD!!!!! Dude it looks great and i would love to play it, however the shoes seem a bit bright

    Right were to start I've loved and played OFP since day 1 and i kid you not "Day 1" I'm kind of at a loss for words when i read threads like this one started by socalled OFP vets? If you've played flashpoint for so long and love it, it's impossible to not love Arma. Is Arma a bit rough around the edges? Yes i cant deny that, however if you remember OFP was far worse of in the beginning. How can you find Arma boring and yet still love OFP? did i expect more from Arma No! did i want it to be more? Yes offcourse i did, i wanted a new squad menu, walking inside vehicles, more support for large structures/vehicles and even more realistic military hardware and missions. However what we got was OFP 1.5 and i for one am greatfull that a company like BIS could provide us with the only real military simulator to date even if it isnt perfect. So lets just stop whinning and make Arma into the game we want it to be just like we did with Operation Flashpoint. Ohh and about the so called "Game 2" i wouldn't count on it getting released anytime soon or at all if BIS isnt developing it, the games buiz has a bad habbit of forgetting franchises that dont make a "Huge" profit.

    Splitting your squad into multible teams.

    Seems to only be possible to use this option when in the new command mode, not really a problem however when you have vehicles under your command it doesnt seem to work anymore Cant understand why they didnt leave it in the original command system.

    I love the game even more than OFP and i played that from day 1, however i find it almost impossible to controle the harrier its just so damn twitchy However with these difficult controls comes the possibility that we will see more top-ace combat pilots standing out from the crowd and not see the average 14 years old kid trying to fly a jet. I think that adjusting the controle settings for personal use will clear up most problems people have with them.

    So the german version wont have starforce? Bit odd to add it to the Czech version and not the german one isnt it. Any conformation on this? I thought the german version would have blood removed for sure

    What do you *HOPE* will be in ArmA modding?

    Could the people that have Arma already, tell us something about the vehicle animations! Are there full vehicle animations or only the rotation and liniar animation. I'd love to see animation sets like on soldiers, being possible on vehicles.
