Anyone ever find the truck they stuck in the water? If so, don't give away the cooridinates, like to look myself. But don't want to search if it doesn't exist

Woot Woot, Atari, glad we are both wrong this week. Atari is top notch in my book. I've always enjoyed what they produce and they have a proven track record. Great job BIS team.

Well, I'll be a good little citizen and scarf up a copy or two if one becomes a special edition. Ahhh sweet happiness, another 5 years of great gaming just around the corner.

bummer ain't it? I am begining to wonder if US publishers are uneasy about singing and marketing a MilSim so close to realism at this time due to the political issues in the country. please, no one, I don't mean to start a political battle, just a though I had... unfortunatly everything gets a political label and slant these days in the US Man I like being wrong Thanks BIS/Idea for finding a pub for the North American market!!!

I am Running a p4,3.2gig, 1gig of ram and the Nvidia 7600GS you show listed from bestbuy.com I'm assuming your going with the 7600 because you have a AGP motherboard? That was the reason I bought it. I have everything on normal settings, or higher, view distance around 1200 meters, screen on 1024x7** and the game is smooth as silk. I've been in some large scale battles online and haven't experienced lag at all. I used to have a Nvidia 5950 ultra and had a huge amount of lag and bad FPS. Now i am averaging a good 25-27 in bad situations and around 40 in normal no combat times. For 200 bucks I couldn't be happier.

Nothing has yet to be confirmed one way or the other for North America. Hopefully BIS skips a US publisher and looks to the neighbors to the north. Then we all just head to Canada and with the exchange rate it would be like......5 bucks Just kidding. Love me my up north neighbors.

I just wanted to add in I have a system I am happy with now. Previously it was P4, 3.2gig, WinXP,SP2 Nvidia GForce 5950 Ultra AGP 1 gig of Ram current drivers installed. I swapped out the 5950 for a PNY Nvidia GForce 7600 GS, 512mb.. Main reason was budget minded. I didn't want to have to spend extra to go to PCI express just yet, didn't want to have to buy a better power supply either. The 7600 needs 300 watts which is what i have. My FPS with the 5950 in a coop game by myself was average 10-12 FPS. Dropping to a game staggering and shuddering 5-6 under heavy fire and movements. this with everything on low. Now with the 7600 I am running a average of 27-30 with the settings turned up to above normal, spiking to 45 under calm and not dropping lower then 20 under heavy fire. Now that I know the card upgrade helped I am going to fill those last two slots with more ram. I can go up to 4 gigs, have 1 gig now. This wasn't just a noticable improvement for ArmA, Oblivion, GTR2, everything jumped a ton. Oblivion the most noticable. Running a easy 40 FPS with everything turned up to high. Don't give up on that AGP motherboard just yet Renewed happiness playing the ArmA demo

Nope... One reason I'm spending my gaming budget on other games. I'll think about a UK version but will wait to see if any headaches from 505's release occur.
-
Has anyone else had a performance improvement with the 5114 build? I read threw the read me and didn't think anything there would help my performance but last night with 8 playing COOP I had my settings at normal to high on everything and wasn't seeing the choppiness or lag. Previously I was keeping things on normal or low just to play with some frame rate drop. Thanks BIS, keep up the good work. The new build helped me. My only gripe, and I don't know if this is present in the released game, is when I am in the kneeled posistion and take off running once I stop I will stay in the standing posistion. I wish when you stop running, walking that you would go to your previous posistion. Very annoying to be kneeling, then run for the next wall and be standing up when you stop, having to hit the button to rekneel.

There has been no official North American sales announcement made. Wait until 505 publishes it's english version for the UK, download it or purchase it and have it shipped if your in need of the game before it hits the states.

I'm hoping that the future releases and patches address that. I'm running a Nvidia 5950 Ultra and with the demo I can play it, but ya, like you mentioned there is some texture issues. Everything is set on low, and 800*600 screen to run it "OK". Now with GTR2 I have things at high, wider screen res and online racing 20+ cars not a hint of lag. Someone gave me "Just Cause" for x-mas and I can run that game on it's highest settings with just a touch of choppy when I'm in the water with a lot going on. Medieval II the same, everything cranked up on big battles with no drop in performance. I'm starting to understand peoples frustration with the demo not running well on their rigs. I sure hope the future patches and releases will optimize things. patience.....all we need.

I've seen a nice improvement in my demo gameplay by doing some basic PC maintenance. As I said before, the demo ran ok on my system with this setup P4, 3.2 gig WinXP Nvidia G-force 5950 Ultra 1 gig of ram I thought I had the most up to date Nvidia drivers, I didn't. New drivers and a noticable improvement. Also running basic spybot and AdAware made a improvement. Then making sure Norton was turned off while playing helped. I still haven't tried Aussie Daves Direct X upgrade suggestion, but will later. Not to worried right now because the demo is running better. and all this on a 5950..Can't wait for some extra coin to upgrade my video card and see this game fly when it is released in my area. so fix your shit, or make sure it's up to date before giving up

Peformance on demo compared to full game
lilwillie replied to RussianElite's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
I am ass-uming this but if I can run the demo then I will be able to run the retail version when it is produced in my region? So far with just a day of play testing the demo it runs ok on the low settings with the following pc specs. P4, 3.2G WinXP, Nvidia G-Force 5950 Ultra,up to date drivers 1gig of ram -
Could someone explain a few things I can't find or just plain am blind too. In the lobby the ping is just blocks? No numbers listed, and sometimes a "!". I guess I don't understand if three black blocks is good or bad...or is the "!" good...Anyway. I can't seem to figure out the ping in the lobby. Or understand it. Also, I've tried to get the FPS up on screen but can't figure that out. Control F? Didn't work for me. Other then those things, I can run the Demo on my PC ok with everything set to low. Specs are below, just off the top of my head. P4, 3.2G Windows XP,SP2, Nividia G-Force 5950 Ultra with current drivers 1 gig of Ram Soundblaster Audio

No, not from me, but some in here wouldn't stop wondering

I don't know everyone elses feelings on this statement but I take it as a lock that BI intends to have ArmA in the North American market. That should shut up those that are wondering if there will be a North American release. Thanks Placebo

What I was shooting for in my post was to show the gaming market in America seems follow a narrow path. I was speaking of the Publishers who look for the market value first and formost. Which they should since profit isn't a evil word. They know another Zelda will sell, at least hope it will. Even if it may be crap. Put out the same games redone a tad and call them "All new with new features" or whatever they do. The originals where ground breaking, some after not so bad. But they are riding that horse to death. They could come up with a new idea now and again. Which does happen. I just get frustrated seeing eye-candy with games on the shelf and nothing that really makes "me" think I will be addicting to it for 5 years as with OFP. As with the Unreal and Source engines. People took them and rode off doing unique ideas. Instead of just remakes of the same idea. Right now with Arma, I think once it shows that it sells, and that a profit can be made a American publisher will scoop it up. When some sales numbers start sliding across desks someone will smack their head and say "why didn't we sign with them after E3" At least I hope

With Idea and BIS coming to the states for E3 I would call that proof enough they are trying to find a publisher from the states http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/armedassault/news.html?sid=6151442 There may be some here who have a prejudiced view of Americans but I have never personally seen it so saying "most" is a stretch. I've PM'ed overseas modders and posters and they have always been gracious with my requests. Same with the staff from BIS when I have PM'ed modderators. Instead of pointing a finger at BIS/Idea maybe turn in on the American publishers who haven't jumped at it. It's there to view, we know it's good but since it isn't titled "Zelda 47" or "Quake 20" they aren't biting. Maybe point the finger at players from the states who constantly purchase the same regurgeatated shit that is nothing but the old game, shined up and reboxed. For the love of whatever, if I see another Mario Brothers game I'm gonna chuck gut. For my gaming needs there hasn't been anything to brag about from the states lately. No wonder my last two games where from overseas. FIAGTR2,Rome Total War series......

Too difficult even on Easy Setting ?
lilwillie replied to Captain Data's topic in ARMA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
I would agree with the others. you also seem to be bouncing back and forth about what you expect of the AI. Being killed by one shot is nothing extreme in gaming, or real life. The comment of a sniper needing multiple shots to hit a target is not realistic. One shot, one kill is the norm. If it's two, it's cause he missed, not because he was getting range. That is the job of the spotter. And to relate it to Paintballing, if your speaking of doing it in real life then a one shot kill is not that hard to do. Been there done that in tourney's. All the time, heck no, there's no reason to try. Spray and pray is the norm for balling and most use the one case/one kill mentality. -
O.k. I found a solution to my previous config error with "Cfg.Worlds" when clicking on the shortcut to enter the mod. Such a easy fix and very stupid on my part When creating the shortcut I had to address the correct file path. When I clicked on properties I fixed the shortcut section there but neglected to address the "Start in" line just below it. I noticed that after looking at a few other Mod shortcuts for different downloaded mods and realized the error I had made. Now that it works. Freaking cool man. Great work, I love the mod. Airwolf is sweet and bring backs some great memories from my childhood. The islands are great. Now I have to go threw the read me and see who I have to beg to use some of the addons to place on my island. Great job, nice mod I also had the "TMYK woodern bridge" error when loading Red Rock.

I had a error after loading everything in as instructed by the read me. "No World Config" error when clicking on the shortcut. I am assuming it is a error on my part because others have listed everything works fine for them. I downloaded the full pack from ofpinfo. Anyone have a suggestion of what I could have done to cause this? --edit-- trying this first

I've never had motion sickness but experience a wierd reaction whenever I am playing a game and jump or fall from extreme hieghts. On Planetside, running off the high cliffs or off a tower my guts roll just like on a Roller Coaster in real life. I've never been a fan of hieghts and they make me nervous. So I attribute the sensation to that. It actually is kind of cool because it seems like I am immersed in the game more. Never chucked gut though

I'll ask Santa for the same thing I hoped for last Christmas. Arma..
