    1.59 test problem

Well, every game I played today had either the server crash or kick all players. The client worked fine, but the ai warped quite a lot. Edit: Definitely no game fisishes - each time the server crashes and desyncs all players. There's something rotten in this netcode... - and this doesn't depend on the number of players. Wether we were just 4 or 22+, always the same.

I had one lockup, but that was ingame and probably linked to the netcode (first desync, then my system froze - BIS already got the report). So the addons can't be the real problem. But then I have loads of ram (1GB)´, so probably thats the reason it works for me.

    1.58 killer ai

When I was checking the skidding I changed the Intro to Malden (it's still my favourite ) to see if the skidding had something to do with lag. Well, it hasn't. But what I was really surprised by, was the behaviour of the M113 in the intro... in 1.46 and 1.55 you always saw the ai getting near the road block, zoom to the tank, then to the guards, guards start firing, m113 kills them. Then the west troops move near the houses and start fighting with the east patrol. That's how it should behave, and always did with minor changes. Now you see the m113, some tracers, then more shots, while the camera switches to the dead guards. The patrol is already dead, before the west troops even reach the houses... What the f... did you do to the ai???

    Ghost bug solved

Well, you could just kick the existing player, if someone with the same User-ID and player-# tried to reconnect. Might as well get rid of those players with pirate keys...

How does it sound?<span id='postcolor'> Don't know. I'm sure the computer isn't bad, but to give any judgement I'd prefer to know more details (what motherboard, what kind of ddr ram, what external connections does it offer, what kind of case, how much noise will the computer produce, etc...). Just the main specs make it a fast machine, but if it's really good depends on the smalll details. I buy my computers by selecting each single part myself. Might be a bit more expensive than those package deals, but the quality of the components is better, too. Anyway, get a GF4 Ti 4200 right from the beginning - they are cheap and support Direct X 8.0. Buying another card next year is just wasted money. OFP will rock even on a GF2, but that's not the only game you will play (as heretic as that may sound ) in the next 12 month.

    1.58 lock up under xp

Ok, I was playing at the evil-geniuses server, when suddenly (after the connection was first good with pings < 100 and high throughput) I had the red icon and desyncs. After a while I got the session lost message and saw the "wait for server" screen. The whole system (win xp pro) frooze, not even pressing the power button to force a shutdown helped. After waiting for some time I had to use the reset button. I guess the server crashed and this send the client (and my machine) simulanuously into oblivion... I'll send the rpt-file by email - too large to post it here (one FROZEN msg after the other...). Edit: Ok, obviously it was only my system crashing, not the server. Just got a message from RED who was playing with me, confirming that the server was still up and running.

That's useful to know for systems that don't have a reset switch...<span id='postcolor'> Of course, but I wanted to shut the system down, not just cut the power. If you press the power button only for a short moment, XP usually shuts down normally, even if you can't get it to do this by keyboard or mouse. Finally I had to press the reset button (I have one), but I had prefered it the other way.

Will my comp work for ofp?

NEVER! Way too slow!!! . . . . Of course you can play OFP on such a machine. But I'd upgrade the memory to at least 512MB (not because of OFP, but more in general). More memory never hurts, and maybe you get it cheaper if you buy it right with the new machine.

  24. If you're using XP just connect the mouse and everything should work fine, don't bother with the logitech drivers. I got the cord version of your mouse. Bought it before the weekend and it worked flawless from the start. Man, I'd never thought I could get used so fast to using the wheel. At work I'm already starting to feel uncomfortable with the standard mouse I got there. Best thing in ofp is the quick access to and scrolling in the action menu with wheel and 3rd button.

    Gamevoice & ai

Ok, maybe not the radiomessages, but what if I'm ussing "direct speaking"? will this reveal my position to nearby ai units? I mean, the ai recognizes shots within a certain distance, so why not voices?
