Well, if you drive blindfolded you're bound to hit a tree or something similar bad. Do your passengers deserve that? No, but it's hardly surprising if they get hurt (badly) - and it's your fault not just the tree's.

Not as bad as you guys made it sound first. Of course it's (from our point of view) a bit silly to give LagaWarz so much weight instead of those mods that are actually played by the community, but then where else do you find such a weird mod? The most important sentence was there: that there's no other game like Flashpoint around.

You can use most OFP addons without any problems if you have a copy of OFP:R (some data needed from the game for the addons to work). If you're looking for new a game though I would not go for VBS1. There's no changes in effects or in the engine, and while the new units are nice you can get good quality addons in the OFP community for free - with no need to pay 50$ for a pack of Marines, etc. Also if you're not into mission making yourself it might get a bit boring quickly - few servers online (mostly empty), not many missions (sp or mp), no campaign. It has it's merits though: new scripting commands, great support, a closed but highly motivated and talented - and much more serious - community. And slowly a 'gaming' community is beginning to emerge, even if the number of private customers is probably very, very low (a few hundred or thousand - nothing like the 1 million+ OFP copies).

Looks like an asteroids clone.

http://www.onpoi.net/ah/pics/users/135_1100894788_zork.jpg - even without the filename Zork is so easy to recognize. I don't know how many hours of my life I 'wasted' playing those great Infocom adventures on my Atari 800XL!

Well, the huge echo probably got them thinking despite their ignorant defenses in their forums.

No wonder Albert hasn't seen it yet... ;)

I highly recommend 512mb ram at least - helps OFP performance big time (difficult and expensive on a notebook, tho). Also what gfx card does your notebook use? One with shared memory (that would be bad - especially with as little ram as you've got)?

Wednesday again - I'm not anywhere near home tonight!

Just one word about darwinism as a theory - of course it's a theory - and an outdated one as such, too. It's basic principles (stated by denoir above) still stand the test of time, but it has been constantly refined and we nowadays talk about evolution and how it occurs - and not darwinism (just like Newton's laws are valid only so far before you have to resort to more modern theories). While Evolution is a theory in the scientific sense at least it's supported by evidence - unlike the biblical belief of creation. I'd rather go with such a theory any day than a belief that isn't founded in anything but the fantasy of some religious sects a few thousand years ago. One more word: Evolution does not deny the possibility of god being behind the creation, just that it's obviously not as directly as stated in the bible and other religion's holy books. IIRC Stephen Hawking had quite a good discussion on this topic in his book 'A Brief History Of Time'. Edit: spelling

According to Spiegel Online (german) Saudi-Arabia will send crown prince Abdullah. Edit: Oh, I just saw that Iraq will send vice president Rowsch Nuri Schawais.

Ah, I didn't know there were cluster ammunitions for regular artillery shells, too. Might be that. Still firing them into residential areas is probably not a way to reduce civilian casualties. The voice over says they were fired 'to set off possible car bombs in the area'... well, including the sourrounding buildings I guess.
-
Wouldn't replacing 'Private Ryan' with a good piece of documentary being a better way of remembrance? PR is just a shitty piece of holywood propaganda anyways.
-
In the footage available on the bbc website you can clearly see subammunitions fired into an residential area. Just look under "Latest Audio/Video", select the Fallujah Attack infos and pick the video from the 9th of November - right at the start you can see the ammunitions splitting up and hitting the town. That looks quite like an MRLS (as far as a mere civi like me can judge that).

Rosenberg trials: Just to remind you that the US at least did execute some spies during the cold war (although not usually). But then they are still quite fond of killing of suspects without fair trials...

I think the french acted just right. You can't keep the peace if the side breaking the agreements doesn't get the heat, too. Peacekeeping - but with sharp teeth. Also it must be clear that whoever attacks the peacekeepers isn't going to enjoy the results.

I think two new threads are a good thing - the election thread already had so many pages (admittedly less than the Iraq threads, but still) that a new start (maybe with a link to the election thread?) would be in order anyways.

Before or after tax? After tax that's quite a good income, before tax it's not high but definitely enough to live by.
-
Jupp, definitely seperate threads. While there will be a few topics affecting both threads that are not covered by their own thread already (e.g. the trade wars between EU and US) the majority of 'local' issues (like the discussion about the european constitution) will fall clearly into one of the two threads. A seperation will help keeping the discussions on topic without people mixing too many different issues into one. Also I must say that usually the offtopic section and the political threads are about the only thing I read in this forum (apart from a few occasional glances at new posts in the mp or editing sections). I second the statements that these really keep the community together. I wouldn't read these forums on such a regular base without these threads.

Mark Fiore is quick as usual: And the winner is...

Jez, that is so generic that it basically covers any non-static 3d representation on a 2d display! From the above link to the patent:

Oh, wow, with Tonga providing troops - who needs other allies...

Ok, so Bush got another four years, the senate and the house of representatives are in republican hands - and several judges of the high court will need replacement during this presidency... To me that sounds just like a major clusterfuck - not just for those opposing him from the beginning. But the 'land of freedom' is becomming even more of a joke than it's banana republic style elections and Goebbels style propaganda (not to mention it's policies of the last century) already made it. Let's all just sit back, wait for the Patriot Act Part II, the war on Iran, half a million dead 'towelheads' more - and of course our rising Halliburton stocks (you did buy them in time, I hope?)... The people have the government they deserve - and the harvest they sow. Enjoy the ride!

Ah, can't wait to join you guys again on sunday night! WGL would be nice for a change - although FDF has some great missions for fewer players.
