    Amphibious capabilities were pretty useless in OFP and unless Arma has rivers I can't see much point there either. The vehicles are too slow in water, making them sitting ducks on anything but short crossings or well defended landings. I can't see any advantage to using the amphibious capabilities on lakes for example - driving around them would be quicker and no doubt safer!

    Say a bridge is covered and the only way to cross is going into the water, that i would say is being a advantage.

    As other people have said, Mission makers will give the balance and im pretty sure BIS will keep things as rl as possible (if it does it in real life it will do it ingame)

    Welcome to the forums lightspeed. Im just here to back up everyone else here and to tell you that you wont be dissapointed by Armed Assault (As long as its in keeping with Operation flashpoint) Forget everything you see in Battlefield as that is just a arcade mindless shooting game. Flashpoint is a simulation and armed assault will just build on that. 1 shot kills, running and firing doesnt work unless totally close range, no jumping, maps with no respawns, huge landscapes, any vehicle you can think of has been made or will be, just anything and everything is possible with this game. Its gonna be a blinder biggrin_o.gif

    Im pretty sure advertisement doesnt really make you buy a product unless you are some drone that has to have something just because someone on a ad tells you you got to have it. The game if im not mistaken sold well because people played the Demo that was just the most amazing thing that had ever been seen. You could even start a post now titled something like "what made you buy flashpoint" and im pretty sure that about 80%+ bought it from either playing the demo or playing a friends version.

    I also think from what i have read that it is a great idea (no pun intended). As stated codemasters didnt exactly do very well on the advertising side of things and still must have made alot of cash from just being the publishers in a game that even monkeys could have known was going to sell millions. It also gives BIS the flexability of not having some bigwig from another company breathing down their neck and having a game that is not 100% because of time limits.

    Truely skint more like biggrin_o.gif  I did have a nice desktop system i built, but i had to sell it as i went travelling and had no storage.  This thing will do for now (o2 modelling is fine on it) until AA comes out then i will have to look at making a new machine. crazy_o.gif

    How about BIS award all us 2001 (registered) guys with a nice big fat brand spanking new computer to play AA on when it arrives? whistle.gif

    Fingers crossed my laptop will be able to handle it crazy_o.gif

    Athlon 64 3000+, 512 ram (fine there) Geforce4 440 go.... (just realised that it has no pixel shaders and very limited vertex shaders)

    Looks like i will have to either see if i can upgrade the laptops gfx card or maybe buy a new system sad_o.gif

    Thanks for the feedback but I still respectfully disagree. The purpose of any disc advertised or not is to boost sales. Otherwise why incur the cost of making the cd and placing it in the magazine. Thats how magazines make money. Anyways my personal opinion is Kegety, Sanctuary etc. should get some monetary gain out of their work if others are allowed to capitalize on it.

    Hi Gunterlund, if you were to look at most cd's on mags now you will notice that most of the cd you can download off the net. I think the purpose in the days of the cd were when people had 56k connections and it was the quickest way of getting programs without the long wait of a download.

    If however a mag came out with a cd that is advertised and tempts you to buy the mag due to its content then i see no probs with people who's work is being used recieving money for their hard work.

    As for magazines making money with a little help from their cover cd's, there are other means of recieving large amounts of cash....... Just ask EA biggrin_o.gif

What they should have done is put in a page that talks about all the mods out there, and the dedication of the folks like you guys who made these mods and listed links to the mods. You guys should all be getting royalties off of the sale of the magazine and in fact BIS should be getting royalties (which they may already be doing) because in reality they own all content for OFP.

    They havent actually published the fact on the cover that the cd has ofp mods on it, so they are not advertising the fact that if you were to buy the mag, then you will get the cd with flashpoint mods on it. So no royalties should be paid,

    Its nice to see a mag having so much praise for this game still. And this only promotes Flashpoint even further to all the guys who havent played it.

    (thinks FFUR should send their latest vid to PC gamer to gather more interest in their mod and of the flashpoint game itself) biggrin_o.gif

    The best vid ive ever seen for flashpoint guys, really impressive!  Deffo selling your mod with this video.  I could see that video bringing a whole new lot of people into this game if you were to post the link in a few forums.  Its just a amazing trailer showing (with a little help from FFUR and addon makers) what a amazing title BIS have created.

    Dont most countries do that now tho?  I know for sure that the UK educate people, give them all the same chance of freedom of speech and employment and we still have major problems with race tension (one recently against black and indian communitys)  

    Now i may sound like a member of the Bnp but multiculturism doesnt work very well (not saying it hasnt worked at all) but if you were to look around England you will notice that communitys are quite sectional.  Why is it so sectional you ask?  Its just these people feel comfy with thier own race and culture in their set areas.  

    A lil story about my nephews muslim mate.  We were driving him home one day and he quickly ducked down out of sight because he was scared a gang of muslim lads were hanging outside a mosque, his reasons for ducking were due to the fact that i was in the car and im a white person.  He knew that if they saw him with me in the same car he would get beaten up by them.

    Accepting racism as a thing that always will be around is a really sad attitude by the way. Accepting racism (or for that matter "racial tensions") in any form is sad.

    EDIT: Oh, and this post isn't aimed at the person i quoted BTW, just a general rant that makes little to no sense.

    It is a fact that it has always been around no doubt about it. And as i posted before "racism will always happen untill we speak the same language, believe in the same god and are taught the same morals etc etc etc".

    As for being racist towards UK people, if you were to judge them by the way they act abroad that is fine by me as i dont find it offensive as long as you dont judge all Uk people because of a certain group.   biggrin_o.gif
