    Confirmed release dates and countries.

Attention! Fellow American OFP fans! Those of you who have not yet heard, there is an ArmA "cure" for what ails you. You don't have to wait for ArmA to be published by some North American publisher. Based on a reply that I read on the BIS forum, here is what you can do: 1) Go on Ebay <snipped> 4) While you're waiting for it to arrive, look on a BIS ArmA CZ website for the CZ v.1.01 patch and download it. 5) Then look for the "6th Sense" website and download their free CZ to English language patch, v.08 6) When your Arma DVD game disk arrives, intall it following the directions (which are, of course in CZ) 7) Then install the BIS ArmA upgrade patch v1.01 8) Then install the "6th sense" english language patch v.08 (follow their instructions to the letter) 9) After rebooting you will be playing a full english version of Arma that is flawless. 10) No! I do not know the Ebay seller, but he served me well. This post is meant to help my fellow Americans (and Canadians) who might be waiting until retirement for an American release. If you want to play ArmA in english, don't whine or wait. Move out, troops! Then you can say: Merry Christmas to me!

To the people who are playing ArmA, how is it?

Just received my CZ copy today. It is outstanding, except I haven't figured out how to configure the controls yet, since I speak USA English and my disk is in CZ language. BUT THIS AMERICAN VETERAN will figure it out. The program is outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some of you lukewarm former OFP players will give up on ArmA, but that is your problem, because you don't appreciate what BIS has done for the community. So you naysayers should just fade away and go suck your thumbs. Go and play the arcade crap that is out there and leave the real players alone. Quote (OFPDude @ Dec. 10 2006,20:41) what do you mean by patching will make it better what needs patching in it ? A whole lot. ArmA Bug List WOW !!!!!! I was expecting some bugs, but not to the extent on this list. Are people actually buying this game some of those bugs look really bad and too obvious to have been missed in beta testing. Well, just let me say in response to your sniffling, that you are better off playing your arcade games like COD, for instance, and giving up on the superiot Arma, despite its bugs! ooh rah! Do any of you loyal Arma fans know of a CZ to English cheat sheet that will help me set up my controls in English on my CZ version of ArmA? Your help is appreciated!

A big thank-you to which ever one of you who recently announced on this thread that ArmA Czech edition is available on Ebay. I bought it even though I don't speak Czech, but since a CZ to English patch has been produced I thought it was worth a shot in the dark to try it. Have any of you purchased the Czech version and applied the English patch? Does it work? American players await your reply!

Having just read the last 100 or so posts to this thread, I must say that there are a lot of impolite people writing nasty little remarks, which are indefensible; not to mention infantile. BIS has certainly gained much in the last four years from the ever growing OFP community. Most reasonable people will agree that as a result, BIS has emerged in the world market place as a reputable and responsible game developer. The fact is, that BIS would not be where they are without the OFP community, and the corollary to that is the people who make up the OFP community would not exist if it were not for BIS developing the finest war sim ever produced. BIS is correct and responsible in the way they have cautiously handled the announcing of release dates for ArmA. Any company of integrity will avoid misleading their customers by announcing product information that is incorrect or unlikely to happen. Hell, I'm an American that may never see Arma published on this side of the pond, and if it is, will likely be released long after it is released in Europe, etc. I would remind all the whiners who have lashed out at BIS on this thread, that now is a good time to apologize to our friends at BIS, or just take your toys and quietly go away.

So many of my OFP, soon to be ArmA brothers, are dads, etc. Ages 41, 30, 27, etc? I'm 60, a father of two, a grandfather of six, and a Vietnam Veteran. I am as anxious as any of you younger folks for the AMERICAN release of ArmA. I feel compelled to fly across the "pond" and visit BIS personally and relate to them that at least 100 Vietnam brothers in my area are waiting for ArmA release date information for the good old U. S. of A. Perhaps we will be last on the delivery schedule, but we will wait, after all the US Army taught us how to "HURRY UP, AND WAIT!" Is this the message being conveyed to the USA part of the OFP/ArmA community by BIS? If so, it don't mean nothin,' we'll wait. I just hope it comes out before we old Veterans croak!

Armed Assault - should the name be changed?

Avon Lady is most certainly correct. Forums are intended to provide meaningful feedback to those who make decisions like selecting a name for a game. It really makes little difference whether "AA" for Armed Assault might be confused with or mistaken for "AA" America's Army. Confusion might inspire my branch of the service to go back to the drawing board and remake America's Army into something that resembles actual combat. I will however, admit that their graphics are fairly good. BIS deserves the Nobel Peace prize for setting the gaming community on fire for the last four years. So whatever they call the new one, I will buy it no matter what, and so will my fellow Vietnam Vet brothers who own and play OFPR as I have for four years. Thanks BIS! Semper Fi
