Well Mushroom clouds could be a pleaseant surprise to watch when I eat my toast in the morning on TV, before opening my door and seeing the white flash of man's god machine exploding!!

One of the points that I made im my original post is the CD staying in your dribve for months. That, as someone else said in this post, you can reply a mission or sequence over and over doing it a different way, which is the joy of OFP> The thing with many FPS is you can see how the triggers are all layed out: 'if I move a couple fo cenntermetres i know that guty will come out the window and shoot at me' That sort of thing reaaaallllllyyyyy annoys me, because you just think that is so lame. Having played the Black Hawk Down demo SP I know this game will just be like that, the same men in the same places, waiting for me to take them down. Like a fairground shooting gallery. Am I asking for too much for developers (BIS excused) to put some decent effort in scripting and triggers, not maturbate over pixel density and colour diversity. Roll on Independence Lost! Again Morrowind is mentioned, is it highly rated by people in this forum, must read up on it.

'If a source published in 1993 says that "x" happened in 1992 and I look at a source published in 2003, won't it say the same thing?, Not neccesarily, is it the same source as in 1993. Things change over a ten year period, maybe events have happened that make a source in 1993 not valid in 2003. If I have a report on an army base in Iraq from 1993 and publish it in 2003 as credible up to date evidence and have not checked to see if the facts are correct from 10yrs ago then that's not good intel, especially by a national govt.
-
If its 10 years old occording to denoir then that's dodgy... But as I say I don't doubt Iraq has got weapons of mass destruction. Is he more likely to use them if he's attacked or not attacked? As for Heathrow, well maybe Bin Laden could level it then we would have some free space to build all thos house Prescott wants to build down south.

Hmmm... I wonder if America or the international would attack North Korea? Possible Nuclear war isn't a good thing, Bush and Rumsfeld are as subtle as a bull in a china shop

Yeah O.K if it was accurate thats fine. good work by the postgrad. But my point is the way Blair and his govt presented it to the public as some great dossier that the MI6 had come up with which was impecably put together. Too many times this government has tried to present things to the public here in a crafty way. Luckily, we are becoming use to the wyly ways Mr Blair and his croonies work.
-
OK I didn't read the dossier, but hey it is still not right for the govenrment to release a document that copy's a postgrads thesis off the net and then present it to the public as a Goverment researched document, that is meant to convince people to got o war. I don't doubt Iraq has got a WOMD, so do a lot of other countries, but is war really necessary after the international communtiy (including US and UK) went about trying to contain Iraq up until SEPT 11th and would of been happy going on containing him if that event had not of happened.

I would say its eye candy, especially seeing they've replicated entire islands!!!

I get it (if your referring to me), just thought I would throw in a political slant to the whole proceedings. As for downed airliners and rocket launchers, I reckon any would be terrorist wouldn't be so dumb as to attack an airport when troops have positioned themselves there, wait six months when they aren't there. Or possible attack something less obvious, such as poison the water supply or blow up a few secluded power stations.
-
Scare mongering anyone? Why does the government keep making the situation worse in this country by announcing how big a threat terrorists are, its not as if its gonna solve the problem. Seems as if New Labour wish to make the population act like cattle and not question anything. How do we know that there is no terrorist threat at all or is a very minor one. Terrorism is being used as a tool to subdue the public and make them believe the propaganda this twisted government puts out. I tell you another thing as well, because its all in the south of the country, it gets more press coverage and attention, if Doncaster or Scarborough were under attack (I know that there isn't much to attack there in reality) this media sensationalisation would be less. The touchy-feely BBC just follows the governments line, as for ITV its just tabloid journalism as far as I'm concerned. What about the dossier that was published months ago purporting to show that Iraq has WOMD, when in fact it was pure stealing of a postgraduate thesis from the internet. Why aren't media chasing thats tory (apart from Channel 4 news, hip hip for John Snow) Wake up Britain, get rid of New Labour and its sham democratic government!

Great discussion about Eye Candy. O.K eye candy is cool, but not the be all and end all, especially when having to update one's PC. Graphic cards are extortionate, particularly original GeForce and Radeon cards, not the franchise ones, when considering how many people own a PC, and their Price in realtion to other components such as emory, DVD drives and even monitors (maybe overreacting there) I think what Leone said: 'I think what people have a problem with is games like Unreal2, which has lush eye-candy but zero replay value.' Hits the nail on the head. When your departing with your hard earned sterling you want value for money, same with CD's, Films and other entertainment products. Being able to use them over and over agin and get satisfation and joy again and again is essential. Its such a shame when a game has been in development for 2 to 5 years and then turns out to be a pile of tosh that has been hyped to the rafters, by loved-up games magazines. Oh well what can you expect from the capitalist pigs (sic).... I'm glad someone has rated Morrowind, was thinking about buying it. Can any one give me the low down on it? Like it's stand out points and gameplay functions.

Having just played the new Unreal game (sorry guys but I was a big fan of the orginal game before seeing the error of my ways by playing Flashpoint), and turns it out its all eye Candy, point shoot, point shoot. I vented my rage over at the Unreal 2 forum, and saw many other people becrying the lack of gamplay and imagination. The fact that Unreal 2 was lacking in imagination and bugs (been in development for many years) got me thinking about the whole games industry at the moment, especially with a new flood of FPS coming out soon, Black Hawk Down, Unreal 2, Doom III and Project IGI. It seems that gameplay is still not in developers minds, apart from Flashpoint I can't think of a challenging and revolutionary type of game in terms of gameplay since Half-Life. The lack of support for these heavily beta-stage games that get released at the moment, emphasis on graphics not gameplay and the high-price for a PC games seems to me as a damning indictment of the games industry. Maybe I'm wrong, would be great if others were to share their viewpoints on this, or let me know about some very playable games out there that are getting ignored. Discuss?!

Some Eu countrie have always have a bit of a thing about Turkey, perhaps the medieval idea of the muslim invaders. when they were trying to decide to let the Turks in to the EU a few months back caused a debarkle. Did anyone watch Rory Bremner on Sunday (English people only)?

Totally agree, the other thing as well, the type of people that buy the big selling titles aren't intersted in actually playing a mission like Assasination in Red Hammer (Just an example) with one save point, because its too testing. With our 15 minute segment society, patience and mental thinking is not thought of highly. The amount of wasted Cd's and plastic that has gone to make up the games industry is shocking. The Sims fragged and body bagged would be nice site, he, he, he!

One of the annoying things I find with Flashpoint when using tanks is this: When my gunner sights several enemy's and which I wish to attack, I cannot attack whilst the enemys are being identified. So whilst my gunner is telling me what enemys are on the horizon I can't tell them to attack. Only when they've finished shouting out their enemy observations can I let rip. Often, by the time they've finished their sightings the tank has been hit a couple of times because I can't give orders to move or fire. This is seriously annoying and should be remedied in some form of a patch.

Yeah probably has been, just the fact I couldn't be arsed searching through the whole forum. Just being a lazy git.

Is it me or does the Oxygen download not work?

Flashpoint will keep on going, even if add on's aren't released. With Oxygen released hopefully some mods such as Vietnam and WWII will give Flashpoint more presence in the gaming community..(?)

Flashpoint is the best game on the market. O.K there's stuff that needs improving, especially the computer A.I. But where can you get a game with so much free roaming and exploring? Eveything else is way too arcadish... Personally, I'm not into multiplayer as it takes up too much time and you end up having no life... RTCW online took over my spare time.. With the mission editor and Oxygen I'm sure Flashpoint will survive.

Totally agree, the MG is terrible. The PK is better, but not by much. Best tip for aiming is, as others have pointed out, use the Iron Sight, target should be above it, so you can see them. Getting that timing right at distance is crucial...

I thought it was generally good all-round. But as others have said the story line was a cop out. It's as if the makers didn't have that little bit of nerve to let you play and finish as a Russian. Limited your playing as a russian soldier, especially the use of weapons and vehicles. But the missions were excellent, especially the sniper mission and some of the heli ones. I'm looking forward to getting resistance now...

Looking for custom made missions
interstat replied to interstat's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Cheers thanks a lot. -
Hi been trying to hunt down a good, fast-server website that has some QUALITY single-player missions made up by other Flashpointers. Any recommended sites would be great. Especially sites with ratings of missions and information about them.
