Once again, people are being ignorant by saying that books are just as reliable as wikipedia. And yes, I am reading a war book right now. Reading a book does not make you more reliable than somebody who reads wikipedia.

I hate it when people say that about wikipedia. The point of wikipedia is so people can edit it. If you have an error in your information, there are generally 50 other people looking at the page, and then it gets fixed right away. And don't say the info is unreliable. It is definitely more reliable than the word of one person. Unless you can present solid proof, we ill just quote wikipedia.

Well, how about you make 2, the heavy MG42 gunner, and light MG42 gunner, if it is possible you could make the heavy mg42 less mobile, kind of like you are carrying an RPG. Where is is a bit harder to turn. And in ammo crates make both versions of the ammo (except you need to be the right kind of gunner). Though it may sound unrealistic, it isn't really. Because if your purpose is to use the 250 boxes, then you will be using them. Just a side note, you should probably not focus too much on realism, it can really kill the game play. You can be killed way too frequently, You could be an artillery loader, reloading an artillery cannon for hours on end. If armed assault was completely realistic, you may end up doing just that. If you are looking for realism I suggest that you make some reloader positions in tanks and large weapons... wouldn't that be so realistic Sitting in a tank, not seeing what is happening outside. Or getting any action whatsoever. Now that sounds like some good old fashioned fun.

I was looking for a mod that adds civilians soldiers to either OPFOR or BLUFOR, Like a separate class set for each team that includes friendly civilians (with weapons, mind you) that will attack enemies, and act like regular soldiers. If anybody has already made this (I don't want villas guerillas, none of his mods work on my computer) could you link me to it. And if it has not been made yet, could somebody make it, it would be very useful, for game play and videos. There should be normal classes, EX:AA specialists, riflemen, etc. And each unit should have a different model (or maybe a random model, if that is not too hard) If anybody wants to try to make it, I am sure it could not be that hard to make.

Fair enough, I still think it should have a 100 round box, or at least 75, so we can have a bit of fun with it. 50 rounds on a machingun that fires 1200 rounds per minute is not too fun, I don't like having to reload every 10 seconds during a big firefight. I also think is is naive to miss-read what I was saying, lets face the facts, the team is probably not going to make animations for firing from the hip. So that only leaves the option of firing the MG42 from the shoulder. And the MG42 that I used (in armed assault, villas ww2 mod) had very little recoil, and could probably used for Rambo tactics. Which in a realistic games, is sort of annoying.

Well, I find videos, and wikipedia are better than the word of a single person. The mg42 uses 7.92x.57 Mauser ammunition, the size of a rifle round. If the AK-47 gives a lot of recoil, the mg-42 gives more, the bullet caries more gunpowder that the 7.62 rounds, and therefore, probably has a bit more kick to it. I was wrong about the 100 round box, I did some research and: The MG-42 uses either 50 round boxes, or 250 round boxes. 50 round boxes are just no fun whatsoever. It is used up way to quickly. So game play wise, you should use the 250 round box. Or, even though it is not that realistic, a 100 round box. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v....search= That was a 50 round box, it used that up in about 5 seconds. Is there any fun in that? Look at how much recoil it has when the bipod is set up, Imagine firing that while standing, it would probably make you fall backwards. Not to mention that it is a pretty heavy gun, it is not something you can fire like an assault rifle easily. The world war 2 era was not really a time where proper SAW's were used. The machinguns should have a fair ammounts of recoil. Whadya know, I found a video of a guy firing the mg42 from the standing position. I don't know about you, but I would not want to be firing long range like that. those are blanks, too. Imagine using real rounds. It looks like he is having enough trouble as it is. Also, you don't have to be an engineer to know that when you fire a large projectile out of a gun, you would probably have a significant ammout of recoil. Did I ever mention that I got my info from max payne, or even video games for that matter? The only game that I had gotten any of that info from was red orchestra. I don't play max payne too much, and I have not even heard of the other ones. The 3 games that I play frequently are, red orchestra, armed assault and Insurgency mod, for half life 2. If you cannot make weapons do more damage to people, make it do more damage to vehicles. If an mg42 takes a 10 round burst at an airplane, it should take it out of the sky. If an mp40 takes a ten round burst at an airplane, make it do nothing.

We don't need more info, we need pictures. To my statistics, projects that are announced before there are any pictures tend to go down the drain about 50% of the time. -
Just a big list of requests, make basic rifles do allot of damage, and fix the weak flesh impact sound. The flesh impact sound in armed assault sounds really stupid. The mg42 should have allot of recoil, and a loud sound. Personally I did not like villas MG42 too much (no offense, villas) The mg42 does not have a 50 round box, it has a 100 rounds box, and sometimes 200 rounds, putting a 50 round box on an MG42, is like putting a 10 round clip on an assault rifle. The mg42 fires so fast that you cannot hear the individual bullets being fired, so do not bother with getting a single shot sound effect, get a .5 second burst sound effect, and only allow 3 shot bursts and fully automatic.. To be fair in multi player, when firing the mg42 from a standing position, it should have lots of recoil, and a tiny bit less recoil while crouching. The Thompson should have the same accuracy as the mp40, but should have a significant amount of recoil. And should do more damage that the mp40. The mp40 should have low recoil, and good short range accuracy, but should only have a fully automatic setting. No semi automatic. It would be nice if you could make the Sherman a piece of crap, because it is.. Even though the German tanks would kick the crap out of the shermans, The Americans will have bazookas rather that the short range, and inaccurate panzerfausts. (I know there are german panzershreks, they are just used less, not to mention the fact that they are really heavy) Sorry for that giant list... I just have one last request, Could you change the oober laggy default grass sprite, to something that is lower poly, but more abundant, that way you will actually be able to hide in the grass, and then you can ambush vehicles from meadows. Personally, I don't think you need a new maps, because Saharani looks enough like France as is, North Saharani looks like the majority of France, and Southern Saharani looks like Mediterranean France. Once again, sorry for the huge list, I don't visit this forums too often, so I wanted to get the requests out now.

Has somebody made a camera tool that works in mission editor? I am not talking about the spectator script (it never works for me) I am looking for something that I could film movies with, has it been made yet I would like something that is like no clip, or like a freelook spectator.

when is BIS going to release the island editor? ArmA has been out for quite a while now, and I am sure many of us are waiting for proper mod tools. Has there been any new hinting to a release date?

Here is my second sound test, it is more complete. It has basicly all the weapons VTE will have (most of them, I think.) don't worry, the ones that include explosions are separate files, not joined. And as a request, do you think you could use the RPG 2 sound? It sounds so awesome. I just love the idea of firing the RPG 2 into the jungle and taking out a squad. especially with the sound. Also, have you asked linker about his tropical models pack? You could use them... they are low poly, and run with a good FPS. Plus they look good, no offense. But I am not a fan of the tree models you are using currently, these ones are much nicer (in my opinion). http://www.armedassault.info/ go down the list a bit. Here is a Vietnam video I made with them just to show you what they are like during a mission. (don't worry, It doesn't suck, it is fairly good) It has kick ass music, and white rabbit. Are you going to add daisy cutters to this mod? It would be nice to blow apart jungles...

thanks, I was already converting to WAV... Good guess Here is a sample of my sounds, sorry, youtube cut off the napalm. I have not done any heavy editing, if you guys would like the sounds, you would have to edit them. the only sound that I did not get from the real thing itself was the napalm, that was from he mythbusters cement truck explosion. But napalm is a bomb full of gasoline, basically. so it will sound like a generic explosion. I will be adding more of those youtube videos as updates. I have just gotten the ak47 and m16 sounds. I am going to get the FAL and M40 too. Maybe some mortar sounds. If you guys have input on these sounds, I would love to hear it.

I still need an answer for my question, What file format do the sounds have to be in to work for armed assault? mp3? wav? As for the music, I think you should have all day and all of the night, by the kinks. That is nam music too.

somebody should take the real 60's music and just take out the voice, it would make good theme music. No offense, but I think the real 60's music would sound better than the stuff people are going to make here... Unless we have some professional musicians. oh, for the mod, are you going to replace the crappy explosion sounds? (and gunfire too) because the default sounds suck ass. If you could get some nice echoing booms that would be great, hell I could even try to get you some good sounds. You know what, I will see if I can get you some realistic sounds, I could just make a youtube video, and you could tell me if you like them or not. What file format do the sounds have to be in to work for armed assault?

You know, that model isn't bad. It's textures suck ass. But the model is good, I think with some re-texturing you could work with that.

How the hell did you make the islands, is the map editior out now, I wouldn't mind taking a look at it... I have allot of mapping experience with HL2. and I have tried out various terrain generators.

I wouldn't be wanting bushes, you should have bamboo, and shaggy trees. and use the basic palm trees that come with armed assault. those are the right kind. I am sorry for posting so many pics and videos, but pics and videos are the best resources you have. http://imagineressources.linternaute.com/documen....091.jpg http://www.ac-hs.org/MClark.jpg Notice how the trees all sag, they have small trunks and allot of leaves. and I do like the suggestion of making the grass long, it would make this look allot more lush and jungle like.

None of your mods work on my comp, I did the base install... then I added the nam pack. But I cannot see any of the models, and bullets fire from the characters belly.

There are 2 things that really kill my comp in arma, those grass models, and shadows, if the grass models are simplified, but not gone, then I am happy.
