    Placebo Radio interview

Hello Jerry! I only heard about your radio so far and occassionally got around your crazy images, but was never interested in it a lot. But now you really hooked me up, thumbs up for that interview! I look forward to listening to it. Hello Clueless! (now I actually don't wonder about your name anymore) It doesn't really good for you, to come around this forum from time to time and start blaming and flaming pretty well-known and respected people. You will get noone to support you with that attitude. Actually I agree with every single point Balschoiw made, attacking him won't do you any good, since he is a very respected voice of the community (that does not mean everyone agrees with him). I can only explain the obvious lack of information demonstrated in your offensive posts by your absence of these forums. Who are you? What have you ever done? In fact, these questions are meant rhetorically and I know that you won't be able to serve any appropriate answer. I think now is the point to accept your defeat. Doing otherwise would just underline your obsessive urge for attention. My excuses go to Jerry and Shadow for this little excursion, but it too sad to see such flaming and malinformed accusations arise to refrain from answering.

    SWAF-ACF - Anti-Cheat Framework

This question was actually answered, in the other topic I think. The framework only checks the relevant weapon config values, such as force, ammo and damage. So as long as you run a mod that doesn't touch these values (but may change models etc.), you are fine.
  3. Different texture, maybe. Great work, Mapfact!
  4. You cannot compare with "objNull", it's not comparable, only assignable. To check whether a group is an actually existing group: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">if (!isNull _grp) then {...} To check if there are any units alive: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">if (({alive _x} count units _grp) > 0) then {...}
  5. You can also check out the Biki for a lot of information and explanations: Scripting

    Script Edit

Great work, Crashdome! Regarding the project files, I would very much like them too. What about a similar solution to the Eclipse-workspaces? Just give the user the ability to select a workspace. A workspace would be a folder containing project folders and one hidden folder containing settings and project files of the workspace. Optionally, project files could also link to project file paths outside the workspace. Project files themselves could be plain XML. With this solution, users could use different workspaces - f.i. one for the mission (even the ArmA user missions directory itself), one for addons etc. And each of these workspaces could store different settings such as window layouts etc.
  7. Cool stuff, Crashdome! So my guess wasn't too bad in the other thread about the SQF syntax in BNF Since you showed the XML-Based header in the last example - is there any form to edit the XML header included? Or better yet, what would you think about implementing JavaDoc-like syntax, which is much faster and more lightweight to write? <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">/** * Summary in one sentence * * Optional longer description * * @param Object Unit Unit of which to move * @param Array Position Position in 3D format * * @author Mr. X <mrx@mail.com> * @version 1.0.0 * @modified 1.1 Added section ... * @modified 1.2 Fixed bug */ Script code ... Something that would be very nice in combination with JavaDoc-like headers or your XML-Header would be some sort of automated version control - maybe everytime you save and close s script, the build number gets incremented?

    GameFaqs review

Hmm dunno, but I think I rather have it a bit nicer and pixelated than a bit uglier and not so pixelated. Let's better stop this though before we get bashed for pulling the thread off topic.

    GameFaqs review

Now I'm getting interested I have all settings on low except Models which is on normal and shadows which is off. Windows is tweaked in terms of performance. How can I go up to 1280x1024 without dropping my FPS from ~24 to <18 ?

Big enough, unfortunately ArmA 1.05beta is just playable for me on the first, but not on the latter (which is the native res of my tft) ...
  11. First you have to add names to the helicopters, f.i. "LB1", "LB2", "LB3" In the trigger's condition line you can write: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">not alive LB1 and not alive LB2 and not alive LB3 You can set the trigger to End 1, End 2 or whatever you desire.

    GAME 2 high level design

I don't want to spoil the fun, but I highly doubt that any community requests have influence on any ground-breaking changes in the engine. Small pieces and ideas maybe, but I guess that the main concept is pretty much made by the BI heads. That's only reasonable, since for them it is a question over a future or no future in the gaming industry, while for us it is "I like that, you like something else more".

    GameFaqs review

We already saw that it grew better from patch to patch. As time passes, our rigs will get better, the patches will make it more performant, and at some point in the future these points will meet for a nice graphical experience. In that way ArmA is indeed different: Most games look top notch when they come out, but are soon boring. ArmA doesn't get boring, and at some point it will look top notch!

    Operation Flashpoint 2 officially announced

We'll see how it will develop. One is sure - Codemasters are way better in their PR and marketing than BI.

If it's a hintCadet, you can avoid it by switching to Veteran mode.

    Tank driving in ArmA

Oh how I love exaggerations! It happened to me quite often too that a tank nearly turned 180° when I only wanted to drive around a corner. Is there a bug report yet?

-nomap command, what does it do?

First of all: Please, for the rest of us, give descriptive titles to your topics ("Question" can be anything, thus not many people will look into it). And if you use the search function first, you will find answers to your questions a lot quicker.

    Cold War Rearmed Discussion

Although I really hate to continue this senseless discussion, I'm interested what your real point here is. Judging from your last posts you are only trying to moan about the CWR team and get this thread locked. What about leaving this thread alone for its purpose: Discussion of CWR news. It is actually people like you (no offense) who are trying to drag this thread offtopic - and now you want it locked? On the other hand you are interested in CWR progress though? Where's the logic? PS: Note that these last questions where meant rhetorically and don't really ask to be responded to. Now, please, let's end the childish moaning and leave the CWR team alone. They are a part of the community, not gods. And if this is really worth further discussions, what about opening another topic?

    Cold War Rearmed Discussion

I actually understand them. If you've got an encouraged team fulfilling the requirements who can work together and are used to certain rules and working conditions, why should you take the hassle and try to bring new guys in? New guys always have to get used to a team and vice versa, which isn't always very productive. There has been the moment when EVERYONE had the possibility to sign up - and no-one did, for a good reason: Being a member of CWR actually means a lot of work and a lot of responsibility. It is not easy to find motivated and skilled guys willing to spend a lot of time on such a project. Acquiring new people also means a risk - the risk of taking in unproductive guys. Why should CWR take up this risk, if not for a good reason? It seems to me that people are only moaning since the option to join right now simply doesn't exist. If it would - no-one would sign up either, for the above reason, just as it was months ago.

    Cold War Rearmed Discussion

There's a good saying in software development (the last post reminds me of it, even though it does not quite fit here): If you are late in a software project, adding resources (people) to the project will only make it later. I think one can expand that to a lot in the modding scene EDIT: ":-)" should also work as smiley ...

  23. Oh nice . . . sounds like someone is coming up with a decent scripting editor
  24. I somehow doubt that we'll get a BNF documentation of the scripting language from some official side, whether they have it or not. But I think it would be good to write it down once, although I don't think the syntax of the scripting language would be very complicated to formalize.

    [CAMP] Perpetua - RELASE!!!

I don't think that will happen. As it is now, the maps rather seem quite blank and empty. I think just marking the rough frontline and one or two cities according to the situation report would do.
