    New Ubuntu build 7.10

Ah, I see that point. Well, GNOME and its easy usage is what I love most about it :-)

    New Ubuntu build 7.10

Indeed? When has that been? I found Ubuntu to be quite convenient since version 6.10, at least since the last 7.04. I guess you should try the new version once again when you get to it.

W00t[1] it's there it's there! Go grab it while you can! [1] I had to say that once in my life

    Generic Script Library

We once started such a project for OFP over at the mapfact forum. Though many of the participants got too busy over time. You can find some of the developed functions over at the old (now closed down) mapfact forum (descriptions are german, but the names are pretty self-explanating): http://www.mapfact.net/forum_ofp/viewtopic.php?t=5666 Regards PS: However some of the functions are now obsolete due to new scripting commands.

    Playing Card Library

Now this is really cool! Do you play against AI or PvP?

Or some older distributions, where you had to fix everything by hand anyway At least that's when I learned it

    New Ubuntu build 7.10

I read a lot about it, but didn't try it yet. I'm planning to set it up as soon as the final version is out. But for what I read I will love it. They did a lot to improve the usability and configurability. And it ships with the new GNOME version, too!

    Cold War Rearmed Discussion

I have a rather direct connection to Gamestar...just in case. Sincere condolences.

    New interview with Maruk

Which really makes me wonder why not much more people have a mac (money maybe?). I don't own a mac and I won't do either for particular reasons, but it's just the plain best platform for the average computer user IMO. Of course, it still can't beat consoles. Although I don't like consoles that much, I can see very well why they are so successful. So BIS, what about programming ArmA II for Mac/Linux? (btw., Egosoft is just about relasing Mac/Linux-Versions of X3-Reunion) This was, of course, just a joke. Excuse my little excursus.

Nothing in Arma2 Seems much Different

I personally think that releasing information incrementally is a very good thing. Of course, right now you might think of ArmA II as of nothing. On the other hand, there is a lot of time left until the release of ArmA II in 2009 (I don't count on 2008). So if BIS do indeed release information more or less frequently, we as the consuments have more insight on what's going on. Wasn't BIS' information policy the most criticized point? Why do you worry now that the actually start to release information?
  11. I doubt it. These nasty types of people usually can't program in .NET. And even if they do, you don't really have to worry about it. On the other hand, experienced programmers might geht interested if they can actually see and modify your code.

    Mafia 2

Hehe, same here. Yesterday, I really thought about reinstalling and playing Mafia without having seen this thread. Just five minutes ago I thought about researching about a possible Mafia 2 game . . . And now I see this topic

    Mission name standard

Ah, sorry, I mixed up mission and filenames there

    Mission name standard

Very nice thread, but I would suggest putting the example mission names in lowercase (and maybe underscores) too so this aspect is clearer. We on the CiA server spent a lot of times renaming MP missions cause they either contained uppercase letters or spaces. And your note below might get lost. Great initiative!

    Shoot from moving vehicles

Nice script. In my opinion this script would only make sense though while the helicopter is hovering or moving very calmly. The action to switch to "firing mode" for infantry inside should depend on the helicopter speed and be only available at speeds like below 10 km/h. This way snipers could fire from hovering helicopters, infantry units could shoot while a helicopter is landing. This would have several upsides: First of all it's realistic, I can't imagine anyone shooting from a quicker moving helo without falling out. Also, there are far less scripts to run in a loop and sync over the netcode. And last but not least, it requires cooperation by the pilot and the infantry inside.

Sounds very interesting! Gotta try this out ASAP!

    xor

    Which is then exactly the same as <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">if((A && !B) || (!A && B)) then { execVM ... } Thumbs up Keg! Nice solution!

    xor

Well, apparently that's the way it currently is ... XOR isn't that widely used anyway.

Interesting offer! Only saw it now. I personally don't need your it, but I appreciate your gift for the community!

    Dynamic Mine Field

Cool stuff, Kronzky! You should try to get your stuff integrated in BAS f, that would really make it strong!
  23. I think so too. Even though our plans might differ at some points: If we can get something going alltogether it would have better chances than three different solo projects. I don't mind on making compromises, as long as the result is useful.
  24. Amazing. It seems I'm not the only one. I am planning to build nearly exactly what you just proposed for already a couple of months. Since my calendar is pretty full until summer and I am doing webdesign as profession, I didn't start yet. Also, I was looking for support since starting such a project all alone is quite difficult if you don't have a couple of months that you can fully spend on it. Of course, it all depends on the featureset and the richness of the site. My idea was quite similar to the ones posted above: A community platform where mod teams are able to register and get some private space for project development and self presentation. This space would include actual projects of the mod, but should be really easy to manage, so that people don't need to spend a lot of time on their project sections and rather can focus on developing. Some sort of very basic forum could do well for internal and external team communication and a basic groupware/project management part of the site should help for a rapid development. User profiles should include user skills, maybe bundled with a skill level (beginner, advanced, prof), so that other users are able to browse a list of developers with the desired skill. An advanced voting mechanism (maybe splitted into a few categories) for users would help getting an idea about a person's reputation, misleading or fake vote results should be prohibited. I also imagined that every mod team should have some basic blog to post updates and PR on. The daily results of all blogs could be used for a self-organizing news page, where daily news of different mod teams would appear without the need of additional news posters. All in all the site I imagined should realize three needs: First of all, a platform for easy and rapid project organization, so that developers don't spend valueable time on designing websites, setting up and administrating forums etc. Second, the platform would support inter-mod communication, exchange of resources or finding people for different tasks. And third, the site should help presenting a mod's work to the public without requiring doing complicated or non-streamlined tasks from the developers. I was planning to build the site in PHP5 using the excellent Symfony Framework, which speeds up the development of middle to large scale websites for larger audiences. It is pretty easy to use, has frequent release cycles and has already passed version 1.0.0 stable. The frameworks provides a lot of components that are definitely needed in the development of such sites. I would appreciate a collaboration on this project, although I won't be able to work on it until beginning of July.
