I have the first release of ACE 2. I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with the new patch?

For anyone who just wants to DL the ACE2 mod folders, unpacked ready to use, here's a link. Mind you it's 109mb and you wont get any updates from me(it's the most recent beta) but at least you can try it. And you need to DL @CBA from DH.

Just place the @ACE folder in your main A2 directory and then take the "userconfig-Place in main ArmA 2 folder" from the @ACE folder and place this in the main A2 folder.(Make sure you change the name to userconfig after you move it). Now add @ACE to the target line of the A2 "beta" shortcut.

Again, you also need CBA to play.

This is only ACE2, not ACEX. Thus far I haven't uploaded it or archived it. It's 1GB, not sure I will upload it.

To be honest I have no idea what you'd do, sorry. Not sure if anyone I've seen around here uses that method but no sure.

OK fair enough. So what do people do who dont connect the PC to the web and usually burn to disk from a second machine? I have tried a BILLION times to get this to work using mod folders. It seems the mirrors for the mod files consist of hundreds of small downloads. and i have no idea what to do with them...

Where does the "lazy" method of updating install the ACE files? In a mod folder? and do I need to be online to use the "lazy" method??

Some stats:

Over 1200 posts in this new thread alone, over 17.000 downloads of the updater software, 1000's of downloads of the 7z's, im sure addonsync is also glowing :)

At least 100 connections at any given moment to the various rsync mirrors :)

And since the fixes, it seems it's always possible to find a mirror with free connections for now!

The system scales really well, and hopefully in time the mirror network will expand.

Ok seriously how do you do this. the first line says "The lazy way is by downloading a pre-setup six-updater.yml configuration file" But how do download a pre-setup six-updater???? And does my machine have to connected to the web for this to work???? Any help would be great.

I finally got it to work. I dont know how but using the updater with the quick option put all the addons in my vanilla addon folder.... all is well apparently.. But the explosion sounds emit around the player. there is no directional sound....

They're also out there, just not hosted or supported by me or the ACE team.

If that means we'll be left with willing, capable players, sounds like a good thing to me then :)

OK one last question. Will you or any members of the ACE team ever release ACE mod in just plain old mod folder freindly files? Even when its out of BETA??

I've seen a lot of 3rd parties, hosting files the way you want them.

True, I have downloaded alot of them. But as they are those .gz files I cant get it to work using mod folders.. What I mean is will there be a normal release? You know like every other mod released to date..:D

They're meant to be used by the updater software, not direct extraction.

You can extract each and every file inside if you want, it should work, but it's much faster to let the updater use them.

I see. so I want to change all the files to normal pbos? I already did that. Is there anything else I need to do?? I know this is annoying but im really stuck.

@majorjim.... there is an entire wiki written on how to use modfolders and activating mods. This is not the thread to be talking about things like this.

Dude no offence but I am well aware how to use mod folders. But these three files are weird they are full of .gz files and even when changed it still doesnt work...

Just do a search for anyone of the questions you are asking. Just search this thread for key words. They are all answered already multiple times. That's why you aren't getting answered much.

Tried that. I have to manually change the .gz files to normal pbos. and I put the proper mod folders into the shortcut it still does nothing ingame!!

GJ Today and congrats on the release.. It's definitely been a hard one but ACE worth it.

Updater is easy to use once setup properly.

We've been sharing the whole modfolders thru Yoma. This means its is twice the size of the release (1gb vs 520Mb) but it will make it possible for people to switch to Rsync when they cool down or have more time to spend on it.

Huh?? I was told that all you have to do is download the three folders, extract them and it will work. what am I missing??

OK this is taking the piss now. I have downloaded all three ACE, ACEX CBA. I went through and extracted all files into pbos. Then made sure they are all in the right place. And my shortcut is fine. But absolutely nothing happens in game. what gives?
