It's flattering that you enjoy my work, but I don't currently have plans to work on GWAR3. I am in the process of possibly joining the development team of a fairly popular gamemode though. We'll see how things go. -

My opinion is that if you used any public resources or learned off of anybody else's work, you should leave your work unobfuscated as to "pay it forward" and allow others to learn from you. The whole protectionism way of thought when it comes to addons and missions is something very new and in my opinion, negative. -

People can still take your obfuscated scripts and reverse engineer them. Don't underestimate somebody who wants to steal your stuff. If they really want to, they still will. Bottom line, if you don't want your work stolen, just don't bother uploading it to the internet. -

I have and I'm against the idea of obfuscating/encrypting the mission. I learned a lot from other people's work and I know a majority of people fall under that same category. -

I say it has no seeds because it sat at 0Kb/s for a half hour before I cancelled it. I just let armaholic crawl overnight and it's downloaded now. -

I'd love to download this and give it a shot, but armaholic downloads at a snails pace, mega has a quota for non paid accounts (news to me) and the torrent seemingly has no seeders. Any way 3.1 full could be uploaded to Google Drive? On a side note, it seems that file sizes are wildly varrying. The torrent is trying to download 10GB, while armaholic was only 6.xGB -
Agreed. Basically the same concept as people obfuscating their scripts as well under the guise "I don't want anybody to steal my missions". If you ever learned off of anybody else's scripts/code and then you go around and purposely make your's unreadable - you're a piece of shit. This community was built upon people learning off of each other and helping each other out. As long as credit is provided, I see no harm in people learning off of each other's work. I always encourage people to feel free and use my work, as long as credit is provided.

Awesome, I look forward to it. It's nice to see IF liberated (pun intended?) from the standalone executable that lacked modding and into the new engine. Follow up question, are weapon sounds still a WIP? I've noticed that the Mosin series has a pretty great firing sound, but the K98 and most of the automatics still have the vanilla IF sounds. I'm sure it's hard to source high quality sounds for these weapons that you're allowed to use, but I'm just curious in general. -
Addons and game modes definitely take thousands of hours - I can agree to that. If I look at my steam profile, I'm at just above 2000 hours of ArmA 3. I can guarantee that over 1500 of those hours were spent working on GWAR3 or one of my other never finished game modes. If we're talking about cost of providing services as well, let's look at programming. I get paid around $25/hr to program professionally as a part of my job. If we do some real simple math, that attributes to an estimated $37,500 that I "lost out" on for working on my gamemode for free. So let's not compare money when talking about community provided content. I'm sure modellers/texture artists/etc can echo my sentiments. Server hosting is literally the easiest service to provide if we're talking about community provided content (Servers, Addons, Missions all fall into this grouping).

Just a small thing to report - the springfields do not seem to use the great bolting anims present in the K98 and Mosin series. -
On the subject of monetization, I'm against all forms of it. I don't think servers should be allowed to do it as they've currently been allowed. Taking donations as a community to pay for server bills or people that really just appreciate the work your admins do or what missions you run (this also applies to mods and missions too btw - people should feel free to setup donations for their work). When money becomes a barrier to use certain mods/missions/servers/features of servers, it becomes a slippery slope where the entire experience is cheapened as a whole. Also once somebody starts doing it, everybody else jumps on the monetization train (same issue we saw once people accepted paying $5 to get a gun in AAA game #1).

That has to do with the reload animation. If you keep left click held down, it'll delay the animation till you release the click - so at least you can see where it landed.- 16525 replies

Out of curiosity, is it an RHS problem or an 3den problem that setting the camo of a vehicle placed (through right clicking on the object -> change appearance) that the vehicle doesn't actually take the new camo? For example, I set the Ural to take the "Sand" camo, but it still had the green camo both in 3den and when I was actually running the mission. I'm running the 4 RHS packages on steam workshop, CBA and CUP Terrains.- 16525 replies

I disagree. View distances should stay how they are. I want it to remain up to the mission developer to decide these things. -
Well it'll probably be in a required patch, so you're downloading it regardless of what your opinions of it are. Secondly, stop acting like a moody child. If you don't like it, don't use it when it comes out. The CUP version will always be there if you prefer that one.

What are you babbling about? You listen too much to devs using buzzwords. Stop expecting arma to suddenly do things it couldn't previously do just because it will address more memory. what you're talking about is related to them re-writing large parts of the engine. -

What are you on about? The last good campaign by BIS before Arma 3 was Resistance. Arma's campaign and Arma 2's campaign was constantly complained about... Arma 3's campaign is one of the best ones made. -

Terrain grid settings are enforced by the server. Unless a specific mission allows clients to override. -

I'm going to be a pain in the ass and keep bringing this up until something is implemented - give us the ability to set brushes for the drawPolygon command so we can have solid fills and crosshatches and such. The command is not going to hit its potential until this is implemented. Also we should be able to draw polygons as marker shapes rather than having to manually draw each frame!- 1481 replies
