I have to chime in on the comment about PvP teams being better than PvE teams, this is flat out ludicrous... You can't judge a team based solely off the style of gameplay they focus on. I have been on two separate teams that focus on PvE and have had matches against purely PvP teams, and have thrashed those teams. The teams I wont name, but they were no slouches when it comes to PvP. Most of the guys on my former team were absolute badasses at PvP, we simply preferred the objective based gameplay with a realistic military feel. Most pure PvP maps, and warfare do not deliver that. Some of the PvP campaigns like ATOW may offer a similar experience, but when i say pure PvP maps, I'm speaking more along the lines of AAS and TDM. I personally enjoy PvP and am pretty damn good at it, hell I hosted the "American PvP" server which nobody ever used... but at the same time I participate in PvE based teams due to the different types of missions that can be conducted in that style of play.

Ill wait for the ACE X release... as bad as i want them now... id rather wait than make you guys do useless work. any thoughts on making a winter/snow variant however?

Is there a way to set the name of a group leader for a dynamically spawned group? I'm very new to scripting and this is my attempt to do this, I have no issues getting the group to spawn. I'm pretty sure the way im using the "leader" command, is 100% backwards from how its supposed to be used. also should I be using double quotations around the ups.sqf? Should i just spawn a separate unit, and then have him join and lead the group? If so, how would i do that without waypoints?

I have a trigger set to figure out when a handful of groups are for the most part dead, and when some groups are entirely dead. I have searched the forums and found some examples of this, but none of the solutions are working for my particular scenario. This is what i have in the condition field: I want to know when the QRF groups are equal to or less than 1, and when the driver and gunner groups are entirely dead. Then execute a script from the "on activation" field of the trigger. -

I've used the BIS_Fnc_Help interface to try to figure out how to do this, but nowhere does it say how to do this. Can you give me an example of how this can be done? -

I installed the Beta and now I cant run the game at all. I get an error saying "Shaders not valid (mismatch of exe and dta?)" My game gives me this error if I try to run with the beta or not. I ran the game with no issues minutes prior, then installed and ran the beta and I get this. Kheiro, those look very nice! Do you have any plans to add more vehicles to the pack? I love the camo job on the Mi-8, it looks similar to the BTR-70 winter pack you released some time ago (which I am using in a mission I'm currently working on), any plans to do more vehicles with that pattern as well? -

AWESOME! Thank you so much for this, I was just complaining the other day that there was no good transport plane for OPFOR. Trying to create a scenario with a full Russian airborne assault in it would look dumb using the AN-2 to drop BMDs... I don't even know if this thing can actually carry a BMD in it, but at least if it actually cant, it'll still look more believable. -

The early versions were simply a .50cal ammo can welded to a piece of angle iron, with a diesel engine glowplug welded inside. It heats up the ammo box and creates a nice big IR signature for tripping IEDs triggered by garage door sensors, or other IR based sensors. Used primarily to defeat IEDs that produce EFPs (explosively formed penetrators), since if they go off too early, the copper "slug" will pass harmlessly in front of the vehicle. Eventually they learned to just point the EFPs back a bit, but then we upped the armor thickness so it would just glance off, then they just built IEDs with 50+ EFPs built into them... fun stuff. The new ones are manufactured with a little better materials, and put out a better IR signature with more reliability. Google, is your friend... -

Ill agree that I was a bit frustrated at the start, but one of my friends helped me sort it out. Once you get it installed you look back and think, "Holy hell... that's it? That was easy..." Once you get it setup and see just how simple it is, you'll love the Six Updater. -
looked like he needed a better solution for how he was running his track IR, if you notice he was moving his head quite a lot, and was getting very little head movement, only a few degrees to any direction... either increase the sensitivity, or figure out a better way/place to mount the track clip.

Ive just found myself with a nice server located in Dallas, and nothing better to do with it than set it up for PvP. Its got ACE already on it, and auto updates minutes after an update is released. Id like to find some really good AAS, TDM and a few really well done CTF maps if i can find them to stick on the server. Id prefer them to be setup for ACE, and more close range infantry battles with LIGHT support vehicles... so to any mission makers out there, pop out some maps and post a link to them here, or in a PM to me and ill upload it to my server. Ill be working on my own maps as well, but the more variation we have the better right? Id also like to find some good guys that i can give admin to in order to keep good maps running, and keep the idiots out. Server name is currently "American PVP - ACE" unfortunately, ive only loaded a few missions that i could find on armaholic, and none of them are truly ace compatible. so once i have the time to make a few missions myself, and get some good ones donated, if any... ill set the server to a map rotation of the best maps. Let me know if anybody is interested in becoming an admin, or if you would like to have one of your maps uploaded!

no its just loaded into the ammo boxes, so that its there if anybody wants to use it. and you are correct, most of the errors are caused by ace.

RPT File heres the rpt from the server. any time i load the map this is what it kicks out, usually happens about 10 minutes after mission start, when somebody trys to join.

well i havent had much time myself these past few days so its getting a slow start. I worked on a simple sniper map on Utes yesterday morning, i got it mostly done, just the error in the pvp pack is causing it to crash after 10 minutes of playing. I put up some TDM map called black rock beach which was really fun, and head about 15-16 people on for a couple hours last night.

having some issues with the sniper map i uploaded today, there seems to be a very big error in SBS MAC's pvp script pack that is causing my server to crash after about 10 minutes of play. the error has been reported on dev heaven already by Kju though. Had some good TDM maps on though, and actually had a good turnout tonight.

im a bit busy with moving and work, so it may be a day or two before i can get some good maps up on it. Thank god for the weekend...

Well i dont want to try to draw players away from those servers, especially if the crowd for PvP is so small, that would only spread out the numbers between the servers and make the games not so good... I talked with one of my friends last night and i think im going to dedicate the server to Sniper TDM maps primarily. Those kind of maps tend to pull even some of the Co-op crowd in as well as some PvP players. Then i wouldnt be trying to compete with the already established and popular pvp servers, and would be offering something that the community lacks. Cause so far, nobody has come to the server... ill be honest i love some fast paced urban pvp, whether its ctf, tdm or w/e, but i can also enjoy a really well made sniper map as well.

Yeah i remember reading the posts about your server before. Sucks that things didnt work out. I see so many posts in the forums about how american PvP is dead and nobody hosts it, so i figured id do the community a favor and make a server that wasnt affiliated to any team, and make it tailored to PvP. itll be pretty sad if this is the second time somebody has put up a PvP server specifically for americans to get what they ask for, and nobody comes to use it.
