    Yes many of the Devs and DLC creators have forsaken the SinglePlayer. Ironic because it was us who were the original mega-fans and modders of the original game Operation Flashpoint which was soley a SinglePlayer game at release. Anyways -if you pickup the SOG AI control mod its alot more fun.

    Looks pretty good thanks for the heads up. I really, really dig games that have a detailed AAR with an X-ray account of what shot killed you as well as detailed ballistics report. One of my biggest gripes with Arma is how they took away the death screen which hovered over the guy that killed you -so now you could literally be jogging 10KM to the AO, get terminator one shotted and have no idea what just happened -not fun

    @H O P L I T E I would just say I get you man but you're on a pretty lost cause here .I used to try and be vocal as hell about the inconsistencies and problems with the AI, their subSKills and how they play out and the Devs simply dont want to hear it. There used to be a point in which you could reliably create Bad Ai, reliably create moderate ability AI, and the ability to make very good 'abilitied AI' -but that point was lost some where in the world of the "interlocution graphs, charts and maths". I spent a good part time career's worth of just test AI and trying to get them reliable because lets face it Arma would be the BEST game ever had it had the trajectory level and expected from Operation Flashpoint made over 20 years ago. Did they put in 20 years worth of AI progress likened to that trajectory? Ill keep my peace on that and just stay hopeful that they have either rededicated their AI staff or hired some new fired up AI programmers for Reforger and the future of this series.

    Hah not to disparage my good friend madrussians thread but there is an even deeeper magic… the AI DEV once had a stickied thread JUST for this reason - to better determine AI Subskills. Seems the initial plan was to at first work with community feedback but seems they eventually said “F dat”

    I’ll respond more later at this excellent post that really highlights the frustrations of trying to make an AI with noticeable disparity. in short in my own mod I try and make basic soldiers like accuracy 0.005 people have been complacent and fooled too long into thinking a simple .2 AI skill settings will make them tangibly worse than a 1.0 when it’s not true at all

    So I would suggest you combine a few AI mods like Drongo's command enhancement as well as Leopards AI command mod and possible the "Go, Go Go" mod. They will give you some overiding command s such as disabling your squads ability to go into Danger mode whenever they want, to unstuck and regroup your units etc. You're gonna just have to play around until you find the settings you like

    I would agree EXCEPT they really had no business listing SinglePlayer as a game aspect on Steam. That would be the equivalent of Farcry releasing a game saying Singleplayer and then just giving you an Editor - and one that not even the Devs themselves have made 1 successful SinglePlayer mission - something that can be done in less than 1 minute in Arma3's editor. Theres alot i like about the concepts of Reforger in terms of the future of the series -and im ok with just supporting the future of Arma 4- but that was disingenuous adverstising.

    Just because you seem to be intimate with the AI Brain Tree - is it possible to get zombies or any AI to notice a door or fence opening? Meaning if you open a door they could take notice even if they dont spot you?

    This. Love the no Player marker on the map -because orienteering and getting lost on such a finely detailed map is just a joy. Heard Marek say he is (the last?) strong supporter of "purist" gameplay -that being less, HUD, less help, one save -old school OFP style. Who knew Maruk was the OG

    That is TRULY IMPRESSIVE !! wow as an early supporter and *cough* occasional critic of their AI - they are really delivering on their promise while I don’t expect that level of minutiae detail for AI cover for Arma - I am hoping they advance to dynamic cover with a myriad of animations to play out. You can see in that video how much more interesting firefights play out with more animations

    I would defintely love it. Thought VR was a joke but its far more immersive and further along than i expected and shooters are a real treat as are sword games. heck im not much of a Skyrim guy but after seeing what the modders have added (crazy physics interactions) had to go out and rebuy Skyrim just to check it out -pretty amazing stuff tbh

    Arma Reforger - Mission Editor

    Yeah im sure they wouldnt just 'not have EDEN' if it was relatively simple to deliver. I trust them at their word that GameMaster is the necessary first step and that an editor will materialize further down the line. But yeah, its tough not having my beloved editor as thats just about where i spend ALL of my time. Ill be going back to heavily modded arma 3 again until progress is shown in Reforger but again i like what i saw for the many QoL improvments. Anyone else think its kinda strange Devs now respond only on places like Twitter and not here at all anymore? What are we yesterdays lunch?

    What im more referring to is the layout of the land. For instance following that stream down the hillside (which you could say compare to the downhill of a hillside north Of Agia Marina in Stratis - theres were some groves of trees that were organically sprouted around this stream and hillside. I had planted some ZEUS enemies much further down towards the shoreline earlier, but they must have heard some earlier contact and moved up and taken position in those trees. That little shady nook of trees held a real ambush site and thats exactly what happened there, they were huddled down and opened up a MG on us as my guys (who you really cant control) went dashing around the stream to better cover. That could never happen in stratis or many other islands in that proper FOV -the way it played out. The way islands are rendered in Arma 3, there just isnt much room for this sort of surprise unless its just crazy thick jungle vegetation. Also all around me im just now discovering actual lil caves and mines also following the creek down, and a fork in the creek where an old rust Dyke is - I mean its just swimming with this sorta stuff. I know your a Skies Guy 😛 and yes maybe they're not up to par yet, but i honestly just never felt so invested in a slab of terrain in Arma 3 -ive been waiting for it to have that "You really are somewhere else" -feel to it. Agia Marina is literally lifeless on a hillside down to the water -like zero interesting objects or type of undulating terrain -its merely something to pass

    I wouldnt want to see those Islands just "ported" over as is. The reason is that just traversing one hillside of any random spot on this Everon has more life and interesting things to spot/experience than all of Stratis combined. This is what ive been waiting for, you wander upon an actual working creek streaming down a hillside, with paths and groves and even walking bridges (AI functional) all around it. Everything about following it down to where it empties in the ocean - felt like i experienced a real place in the wilderness -not just lifeless terrain area x,y,z in which you just want to get thru as fast as possible to find the enemy. At this point the level of detail on this new Everon is the Gold Standard -id play over any other top BI or Modders Island and frankly would probably buy every terrain made for it - as these are to be experienced.

    [Poll] ArmA Reforger / Arm4

    Pretty much what i experienced in some limited testing as well. I liked that they much better orient and dont do all those extraneous movements mid firefight of Arma thats haunted us for so long. I also likes that one had his back to me as I approached him on the street and when he realized I was there -seemed to have an Alert reaction maybe yelled something and snapped to action to fire at me. I also noticed that when really close they tend to hesitate -which is possible to happen in RL id garner but id only like that as a feature not a glitchy bug. Really the only game ive known to have a perfect reaction of Missile to Melee when point blank range is Warband series - the Archers ALWAYS pull out their Knives if you get really close - but that series also doesnt have to worry about Line of Sight, its just insta-knowledge of enemy in close proximity. Overall they seem better at reactions - obviously jumping outta the way of cars and running from grenades is a great addition -havent experienced it yet but seen video. Another Plus was I fired at an AI on a 2nd floor of a building and then ran and he basically chased/followed me towards the 3rd floor stairwell where i was waiting. It wasnt perfect as the first time he came up stairs he didnt react when getting right on top of my position but he finally kinda reset himself took aim from a lower stairs -and fired. Id say thats big improvement from Arma interior building fighting -but of course could still use work. Lastly the first night i tried I fired at an Enemy position over PineWood lake some 3-400m away, and they reacted and actually navigated running around the whole lake to get to my position. It played out very well imo. But the next night -I did the same and instead the AI tried to swim over the lake which made no sense. Overall im definitely positive about this AI - alot of necessary back-to-the-beginning type stuff which i think will make a nice new and good foundation.

    Anyone here know whats happening with the Reforger Sub-Topic was supposed to be here? How hard can that be them knowing exactly when they were going to release Reforger.. Problem is Im all Boomer'ed out of Discord -whenever i accept an invite it says I cant post because I have to "Claim This Account" -which leads me in a never ending maze of circular logic and failed Sign-ups. *kicks dog, slams remote, raises fist to clouds* Also from what I have seen of Discords doesnt seem like information is as well compartmentalized as a forums but more like an endless stream of consciousness

    Arma Reforger - Mission Editor

    Well even if it just got streamlined and of course gives us the ability to Save a scenario. Seen a guy on youtube trying to make a co-op mission and it seemed to take him hours just to get some cohesive AI groups spawned and given waypoints -that aint acceptable. Also dont know if anyone remembers but there was a modder who basically built a makeshift 3d editor before Eden even came out -i built a few really cool missions with it but the only problem was it required any mission user to also have that pretty hefty Addon -felt bad for the guy when Eden came out as that was a real labor of love project.
