    Dispersion values should be equated to rank/ and or skill setting and should be AI side only. Its hard enough for the player to hit his mark without random left/right deviation. Obviously since the computer always knows exactly where you are, dispersion makes sense to simulate human error.

    Hi Kyle, good to see another SLX-Head in here While there are some positive improvements in AI, mostly the enemies ability to flank you, most of the questions you've asked are a soundly no. I was definitely hoping for AI lean/cover, and suppresion fire though the latter is already being worked on in mods. CQB seems pretty much the same and you won't find any of your shovels, knives, bayonets or rifle-butts a la' SLX. Wound system is generic and your pretty much dead when shot which leads to extremely brief firefights if your using your old OFP tactics. Youll need to shoot and move in this one as the AI are all crack shots and will find you quickly after you take a shot. That being said ARMA is still great fun once you make adopt to its playing style. The sights are great as you can lower the gun even while in iron sight/zoom mode to reacquire your target. You'll feel both the weight of your gun and your body when moving around which took some getting used to but now I could never go back. ALL in all, great fun despite some major blemishes.

    Just noticed that troops still refuse to cross bridge with me. I thought I remembered hearing this was fixed and that problem occurred when another road is underneath bridge but this just happened with only grass valley below  Hope this ones in the wiki biki

    Fixed crosshair?

    Hehe sorry to pull up this dinosaur thread but I need to know how to disable the crosshair. I've set 'weapon crosshair' in difficulty to 'disable' but it won't turn red, much like 'disable tracers' and doesn't take in the game. edit- Whoops never mind, just had to restart game...
  6. I don't have tonal anymore but i did have that config. work in the past. Try copying all of the addons out of SLX and putting them in your tonal addons or such. I once had to do that with ffur2007/slx and it worked.

    Evolution V1.0 Large scale respawn coop

    Tried Evolution for first time today and have to say had one of the best on-line wargaming experiences ever. First started off lone-wolfing to get some points which was fun but once I got rank, had even better time using vehicles to support our offensive. Was lucky to have a couple serious players to work with which just makes this kind of gaming first class! Hope this is the direction ARMA continues down Great job

    Anti AI cheat mode

    Well I have some good news. I re-tested the same scenario using Troopman+ between every single movement, but this time stayed 50 ft. away from the wall and enemy radar was not magical at all. So I think my first test, being right next to the wall, with AI directly behind it was him 'hearing' me afterall. This time, he even popped up out of prone to check my whereabouts and then dropped back down again after establishing my whereabouts.

    Wow this is bad news and your absolutely right. I just tested in editor with one enemy behind wall, I took a shot at him and watched in commander mode as he tracked me perfectly while I shuffled (crouched) between left and right. God i hate magical Ai! One interesting thing i noticed is he lost his bead on me whenever i went prone?!? Stealth perhaps? Edit- I could have sworn they had this fixed in OFP? Wasn't there a target box that would continue in the target 'probable direction?

    FFUR/SLX 2007

    @Geosword I suggest that you go into SLX thread and either check readme or d/l it. SLX has many AI enhancements/changes that some love some don't but the creator graciously added a way to disable many of it's key features quite easily. Generally if you go into the GL3.sqs youl find that either by removing brackets and or setting values to either 1 (on) or 0 (off) you can get the best results for your gameplay style. @rheydrich Same as above edit-Samoth is correct, GL3 is for vanilla SLX.

    I think you've really touched on something here that I know at least myself has been really longing for. I think too many of the battles in ARMA feel in a vacuum, that is not really connected to anything which brings a lifelessness to the overall feeling. If '2 is down' in my squad, i don't really care except to learn from which direction the enemy is firing. Voices help somewhat when someone goes down a la ECP;SLX etc... "I'm Hit! Help!" but more is definitely needed. Good luck with project.

    The first couple minutes- I hated it. I wondered if anyone in that world spoke normally - "FOR SPARTA!!!!!FOR VICTORY!!!!FOR GLORY!!!!" howabout "CREAM IN ME COFFEE, PLEASE!!!!!" Also loved how everyone inluding the 90 year-old hermit and houseboys had 8-packs for abs. Felt a little queesy and had to double-check i wasn't in a gay-porn theatre. Once you resign to this, actually a very enjoyable movie

    I don't think his point was -" I get to kill women,dogs and babies now yeah!" nor propaganda for US forces. There are plenty of games in which the lead character's loved one is killed to add an element of emotion to the game. One of the best SP Missions for OFP, "Abandoned Armies" does exactly that by having your character's niece abused and murdered with aid of US forces and no one was crying foul over this. I very much enjoyed that mission as there was a strong revenge element which gave an urgency to completing the mission and getting some payback. I don't know about the 'going to jail' thing but I think there are other ways to penalize the player for unlawful killing. Maybe a 'tactical points' system which unlocks or locks features such as artillery accordingly. Reckless use of WMD's would result in punishment for one side giving tactical advantage to the other. Edit- Larry I just noticed you had these kind of penalties at the bottom of your pic's. Very nice and totally support!

    Larry you sick sick bastard I've been modding sheep and other small farm animals into my games for the last 20 yrs- for my own, erhm, realistic experiences. Seriously though, I'm completely behind you on this- more realism means more is at stake on each mission. How many times have we cleared towns, stopped convoys, stolen the car. Civilians really need to be fleshed out in this game. Screaming, cussin, even turning insurgent (proper English?) depending on how our soldiers behave. Bring it!
  16. Thanks SNKMAN! I'm not sure how you got all of those SLX effects though- do you just use the oldschool method of mod=@SLX in the target or do you need to do some 'inits'? So far tracers,wounding looks like vanilla ARMA.

    I'm really tempted to go down the cellar, dig up my Satanic Bible, and pull out my old copy of BF2 to try out this much ballyhooed Reality Mod. Frankly i never hated BF2, just didn't like it much either. It wasn't the jumping or tiny playing fields, it was the 'spawn system'. Me Hates magically appearing soldiers especially while taking a flag and one drops on your head straight out of Time Bandits.I spent many fruitless months trying to convince big-name modders like 'Allied Intent' to do away with it and replace it with spawn by Paratroop or stork or anything but magically appearing people. They thought me nuts. If this is removed and the squad system is as tight as stated, I'm game and ready to download+monster patch

    Still got the memory error even with -nomap although for some reason the 'Conveyor' mission works now. Problem is, after you get your orders on the bridge, i see no non-fatal way of getting back down to the deck-tried 5 times, died 5 times Â

    Sorry sir, but that is, IMHO, a lame answer. We didn't pick the publishers for specific geogphical area..BI did! I'll pass on the beta...this activation thing is a pain in the butt and, as usual, only effects us poor suckers who paid for our game. I've been thinking about skipping it too. Sprocket here and Im paranoid about re-activatin   yeah reactivation is some scary shit! Thank god mine worked out ok err.. except for the part that I can now no longer run the original ARMA and can now only launch from the - start betapatch icon Oh well, wasn't doing that much MP anyways- hope this patch becomes the norm or I'll be playing solo for a while great patch by the way- guys actually disembark from their boats and the uber-Ai definitely seems toned down leading to more realistic and fun firefights.
