    Finnish defence forces mod 1.2

    There is a slight bug in FDFMod 1.2, which causes noticeable lag (and annoying noise =) ) in multiplayer games when lots of tanks are simultaneously burning. Bug causes explosions to be created not only where vehicle is local but in all clients, which for example in game of 24 players causes 23 extra explosions to be created. You can download hotfix here http://koti.mbnet.fi/fdfmod/scripts.rar Uncompress this archive and copy extracted scripts.pbo to finmod\dta directory under your flashpoint installation directory, overwriting old one. DO NOT copy this file into OFP's Dta directory. This fix does not cause incompatibilities between patched and non-patched clients, unless server is configured explicitly to check for scripts.pbo, although it is recommended that all players joining game do have this patch installed since every patched client reduces amount of lag generated by extra explosions.

    That's true, since AI vision blocking smoke is created in fired-eventhandler of Men class. However, if you're creating your smokes by scripting you can create also those invisible magic objects and delete them after some ~60 seconds.     Winter War (from imdb.com)Russia attacked Finland in late November 1939. This film tells the story of a Finnish platoon of reservists from the municipality of Kauhava in the province of Pohjanmaa/Osttrobottnia who leave their homes and go to war. The film focuses on the farmer brothers Martti and Paavo Hakala. Well, this is one of those classic Finnish war movies. While it might be quite hard if not impossible to get hold of DVD version outside Finland, it seems to be pirated all over P2P networks. Also, though not so new and flashy anymore, both version of "The unknown soldier" are also worth watching.

    UAZ variants and SPG-9 9.1.2 From FDF Mod homepage: The versatile UAZ can be converted to various roles, for example to a mobile recoilless AT platform. Light vehicles armed with hard-hitting recoilless are capable of quick hit-and-run anti-armor attacks, striking fast and vanishing before the enemy has time to retaliate. The 73mm SPG-9 recoilless mounted on the Russian UAZ is similiar to BMP-1 IFV's 73mm gun, firing the same fin-stabilized HEAT shells up to one kilometer with penetration exceeding 400mm depending on the ammunition type. Recoilless still holds it's place in arsenals of many armies since guided AT missiles are expensive and fly much slower, exposing crews to enemy countermeasures.

I didn´t know that it´s only a prototype and that Fin Navy decided not to use it... It wasn't prototype, they bought four of them and then decided that actually they were useless and now have decided to sell them at loss. Basically it was someones pork barrel project which only resulted in 15 million EUR tax payer money fuck-up. (btw. how do you get euro character to work here?)

    It's an OFP "feature". Bridges do not work that well in any island, sometimes they go through bridge and fall into water or wont get to bridge at all... You have to fine tune bridge objects in O2 and positioning in Visitor a lot and it still does not work correctly every time. Nogova bridges have same thing, when playing with terrain detail set to "low" (like in MP) tanks sometimes go through bridge, drive into water and explode there, destroying whole bridge.

    Some of MP missions included with 1.2 full version probably are older than ones released after 1.1. It shouldn't happen but sometimes it is hard to keep track of everything since mission makers release patches to their mission independently of mod team.

    They are resistance units placed on east side as FDFMod units are already on Resistance side. They still shoot you back, but somehow OFP shows them as friendy kills in debriefing.

Any mission with BMP2 won't work on dedicated servers due to conflig in config.cpp. To fix this, delete s_o_fdf.pbo from finmod/addons directory on your dedicated server (or rather move that file so you've got backup). Clients do not have to delete that .pbo, it will still complain about "finnish_defence_forces" addon but otherwise missions will work just fine. edit: added bmp2 fix

    Those experiencing problems with FDFMod using older maps which have BMP2 or V-80 (Kamov) in there, same fix which worked for 1.0 should work for 1.1 - just delete finmod/addons/S_O_FDF.pbo on dedicated servers. Nothing needs to be done on clients, deleting file only on dedicated server should fix this.

    Yes, that is something that definitely should not be there. Reason for creating our own BMP2.pbo was to get rid of problems like these with 1.0 but still having correct sized BMPs. We will include fix in full version and release small (500kB) update for those who already applied 1.1 patch, as soon as we're finished with testing.

    Sounds like it is GMR explosion mod which is causing this. It is very probably not compatible with FDFMod 1.1. Do you get same problem if you leave out that -mod=GMRexplo parameter? Not that you even need it, new explosion effects by TJ are in my opinion best so far

    Yes, he's aiming way too low... Â Well what I meant was that the animation is wrong, it should be the rifle holding animation, not the pistol holding animation, as you can't fire an HK69 properly holding it the way the pistol animation makes you hold it. True, but then we'd have to configure it as primary weapon, which it is not. In real life H&K 69A1 serves in similar role as M203 with M16.

    I think it is a bit misleading to speak about Al Qaeda as "global organization". What "Al Qaeda" consists of is numerous small local organizations with common ideological base but quite different goals, some of which have carried out terrorist actions for decades, for example in Philippines. 9/11 was huge publicity boost for Bin Laden's rather small group - now we have these small groups cooperating and getting common funding base for their strikes. In most of these cases AQ has now little or no public support, due to massive civilian casualties (like Kenya) or economic hardships caused by lost tourism income (Luxor masacre, Egypt). What USA should do is let Saudi Arabias current regime fall, as most of AQ footsoldiers and funding came from Saudi Arabia and whatever regime would rise couldn't be more fucked up than current one. What is happening right now is that Saudi royal family is just channeling anger of their disenchanted youth against western world, though relationship between AQ and Saudi government probably has changed radically after this autumns strikes. Sadly, no US administration ever has had balls to do this.

    Oh, and about campaign... It is separate project from FDFMod with different people doing it, though they they get to play around with our test builds. As far as I know campaign isn't probably going to be finished to be released simultaneously with 1.1, but I haven't been following their progress that closely in last couple of weeks. Maybe someone from campaign team can tell more...
