Winter OPFOR Pack - retexture thingy.
feersum.endjinn replied to lee_h._oswald's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Winter Nogojev readme.txt has already an answer for you. -
Yep, it's released, unlocking now...

She can still block any legislation or nomination she wants just by not signing it. It is rare but it does happen, like nominations for Central Bank. That said, she probably does not give a damn in either way if Defense Ministry wants to have new uniforms or not, they've got a budget for replacing worn equipment and as long as they stay inside that budget frame, anything goes.

Finnish Defence Forces Modification 1.3

Uh, no.. We fucked up and forgot to make them placeable in editor. You can place them however by editing mission.sqm: just add any object under Empty menu and then edit mission.sqm and change vehicle line to either FDF_ArabianMinaret or FDF_ArabianHouse. Example: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> class Item0 { position[]={9666.933594,29.834999,4046.241699}; id=3; side="EMPTY"; vehicle="FDF_ArabianMinaret"; leader=1; skill=0.600000; }; -

You might want to lower terrain texture resolution from OFP preferences with 32MB video card. Besides terrain textures, this desert island probably has less detail than other FDFmod islands. Mission makers can do it easily themselves with setIdentity and use existing OFP faces. Mod team does not include too many middle eastern looking guys we could photograph for new face textures -
Well, 10 layers might be overdoing it a bit, also if you've got exactly same model but just different textures, then setObjectTexture is obviously way to go. Hidden selections are useful when you have same basic model, but just different gear for different variations like beret, helmet, medics bag, ammo pouches and you want to have different combinations of those.
-
I guess everyone is using HW T&L nowadays. With FDFMod we used one model with lots of hidden selections mainly because it makes editing and updating models easier, you don't have to update 20+ .p3d's if you move one vertex here or there. Also you save a lot of disk space and memory, you only have one single model loaded and all different variations like medic, officer, etc. on it are done just by having different configs.

What it comes down to is that cheat prevention is theoretically impossible. You can have Punkbuster, but someone with sufficient motivation can crack it too. You can only catch most common and blatant cheats with it, someone writing his custom cheat software can probably get away with it. It is same kind of problem why copy protections and DRM simply do not work in the long run - no amount of crypto does any good if the attacker and recipient are one and same person. I'd just include some kind of spectator script on missions, usually you can catch cheaters easily when you're watching them in 1st person view. For really serious squad ladder matches you can have some 3rd party referee to look out for cheaters.

The man could've been remembered not just as a resistance leader, but also a statesman. Unfortunately for him and palestinians, he wasn't much of a leader and threw it all away. I think that in the end, history will only remember him as a terrorist.

You must use up-to-date version of WinRAR to unpack archive! Archive was packed using 3.40, but at least 3.30 seems to work too. -

Well, there are there mostly for sake of having at least something besides Finnish units. Disk space considerations were also an issue, island and textures for it already take quite a lot of space. STT & UCEEs old units take only couple of megabytes of disk space, we just modified them to work with resistance features like pistol proxies. Nothing stops you from using some excellent existing stuff already out there, like Tonal civvies or HYKs modern US infantry pack. -
Well, it's official now. Yasser Arafat, symbol of Palestinian nationhood for four decades, dies in a French hospital aged 75.

They're not bugs, they are "OFP features". OFP does not render shadows on regular objects, which road blocks are. Also, it has same limitation with vehicles. Just place car on a side of a road in the beginning of the mission, when AI drives it on the road it will behave properly. -

It uses FDFMod weapons, objects et cetera, so you do need FDF Mod. -
I've probably tinkered around with just about every game I own... That's what hex editors and disassemblers are for Lately, besides OFP only mods I can remember downloading were realism mods for Rome: Total War and Kegetys' Flatout camera mods.
-
They are unused, had something to do with force feedback, but it got implemented differently. You'll have to put them there though, if you're implementing fire modes.

Does your texture have a alpha channel? If not, then choose DXT1 5:6:5 for best quality and ingame performance. If you need 1-bit alpha, then you must use DXT 5551 anyway. Having dithering turned on also helps.

edit: Ok, I guess I'll have to clarify this somewhat, not starting a war in first place is not a valid answer this time Since everyone seems to have an strong opinions here, I'll pose a question: aliens have kidnapped the Bush administration and in emergency global world population has now elected *you* as US President - what would you do regarding Fallujah if you were the president now? Obviously, leaving Fallujah as it is currently isn't an option for following reasons: - Insurgents residing there prevent elections being held, and would like future government to be either dictatorship headed by Sunni strongman or Taliban-style fundamentalistic state, as representatives of Fallujah resistance have stated publicly. Which side is stronger, is subject to debate but obviously they do not want democracy, due to Sunnis being minority and probably losing their traditionally held power. - Main highway to Syria and Jordan goes through Fallujah: even if Fallujah is contained it hampers reconstruction throughout northern Iraq. - Resistance also adds to general lawnessness in nearby region, good examples being robbing of cargo, kidnapping of truck drivers and bandits extorting road tolls. - Even local residents want insurgents gone. Iraqi security forces are in no shape to secure Fallujah, so whatever is done, must be done by coalition forces. - Negotiation with unsurgents has been tried, but so far their demands are pretty much impossible to comply with and negotiations have broken down. So, something must be done - if you were the president right now, what would you do next?
-
It might also be some other key like F1, ESC or F12. Usually manual that came with your PCs motherboard will tell anything you need to do change settings.
-
It is one of new features possible with DirectX 9... High dynamic range lighting effects are even one of the tutorials in DX9 SDK.. Of course, it would need one of the newer cards with floating point texture support to work but with release date set to 2006 it wouldn't be a problem.

No.

Hardtalk is a great program, they ask really nasty questions from their guests which your average journalist never dares to ask, no matter who's the guest or what the subject. I don't know how they even get anyone to come to their program, as their guests are usually thoroughly beaten unless they have really well thought out points... I'd truly like to see them get people like Blair, Chirac or Bush for nice little interview...
-
If you ask me, level of debate in US thread pretty retarded at times. So, I vote for keeping them separate.

can I make cash from your addon, please?
feersum.endjinn replied to Bmot's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I have no problem with people making money from my addons... as long as I get my share So, let's say 5% from retail price would be nice. On a side note, whenever negotiating, never accept percentage from a profit, those damn accounting people can make it all disappear in a second... I know few people dealing with content licensing (aka starving artists) and they got hit by this pretty hard.
