What do you think off the "future" setting
Montanaro replied to paecmaker's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
OFP was 1985... I dont see what the big deal is jumping an equal distance into the future -
Will bullet be able to penetrate multi-person or corpes be shot again?
Montanaro replied to msy's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
They certainly make convenient sandbags! -

Does the USA train soldiers in left handed shooting? I know you can receivers that are for left handed shooters. Honestly now sure how common it is for troops to fire left handed in combat. I know in WW2 everyone was trained to shoot right

I'm going to buy TOH as I am an aspiring commercial helicopter pilot I'll also buy ARMATre In my case, ARMA isn't stealing TOH's profitability or marketability

Looks like I'm going to have to get a new motherboard and the AMD x8....

No it would be okay to drop leaflets during a campaign mission or something. But to be an actual gameplay element? Har Har and more than half of your suggestions are easily put into OFP, not to mention ARMA3

I'm being serious believe it or not. I remember there was a lot of excitement for those features and it further opened up the modability of the game. Being able to shoot from multiple positions in a vehicle was a similar jump.

Yay! Yet another installment for me to purchase. I'll have to say, BIS really set the bar too high for themselves when they released "resistance" with a bus and bicycle. That shit was amazing back then, hard for them to make such a leap again.

task force blackjack is a fun server with good teamwork. Also fun when the 15th meu get on to play.

Zeus AI Combat Skills
Montanaro replied to Protegimus's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
yeah I had similar problems in a mission I made. The squad leader would follow the waypoints, but the ai would just stand there or lay down, especially after hearing gun shots. Squad leader would be 200-300 meters ahead squatted down waiting for the squad to catch up I guess. Sometimes the ai will even react as if I'm leading them when I'm just a part private, as in, a couple line up on me, and will slightly move or turn when I move. -
This is the type of addon we used to see in OFP! (anyone remember firing mgs with mini nukes for bullets?)

Player looking for squad (not for squads to post looking for players!)
Montanaro replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SQUADS AND FANPAGES
Hey all, firstly, do any squads actually read these and message invites? As for details of myself, I'm looking for a realism unit for either ARMA2 or OA. I haven't played ARMA2 OA in a few months and wish to get back into it. I've been playing since OFP Demo and consider myself a salty vet. Have played in a couple realism units in Red Orchestra and WW2 Online and before that in realism squads for Rainbow 6 Rouge Spear/Black thorn. I'm a good scout or mger, capable in vehicles, and pretty good chopper pilot (planning on getting my heli license in a few years after I grad from Uni) I play in the USA but can't be expected to play all the time (the whole getting a life thing sucks) :) -
I have never fiddled with rank outside of making the mission seem a bit more realistic for my friends. I've never noticed a difference.

I don't know about AI not shooting back, but when you have them behind fortifications, you need to add the line "stand up" or "kneel" to the unit. I haven't done this since arma1 so I don't remember the exact words, but I'm sure they aren't hard to find on an editing website. This will fix the problem of AI laying down in bunkers and being completely useless.

ArmA2 OA Running W/O Weapons Anim's
Montanaro replied to sweraider's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I think it's basically the same animation from OFP -
and WW1 was supposed to end large scale warfare.

If there's any luck that we have ARMA 3, get me a Carribbian Story
Montanaro replied to Pundaria's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I miss the old island layouts. But if you want jungle, say bye bye to FPS. -
BIS has stated a long long time ago that they do not recreate real wars for various reasons. However I'd still like to see a mod about this.
-
The tree drawing is due to flaws in OA itself. Just going to have to wait. As long as you get good FPS, I wouldn't complain. If you upgrade anything it should be video card. But I believe the 4890 if it's 1GB should be more than enough.

I have my ai set at 1 and have never seen a frag thrown. I've seen them use their GL plenty of times though.

I've always been perturbed by the lack of windshield wipers in the game. You should also be able to recline your seat, so you can hide from the bad guys!
