I have a shitload of fun just placing groups in fields, and having them charge a fortified line. Not hard to make but quite fun.

Artillery is really in need of a counter

artillery is the biggest killer in war. Learn to deal with, or play a different game mode. -
AI Soldiers do not want to drive

even if when they get behind the wheel, they struggle to drive. Just another left over from OFP. -
Enemy can pinpoint your exact location after you set-off some satchel charges.

great video, I didn't have that problem on that mission though. Do you have super ai on by chance? I did a little IED ambush mission an hour ago, and after I blew up the lead vehicle, I immediately got mowed down by the rest (was up the hill about 200 meters in a pretty good spot). Certainly shouldnt have seen me so quickly, and not by the whole group. -

all I did was turn up my view distance to 4500 and turn on my FLIR and had my apache chillin at 350 meters altitude. I zoomed in with the uav and lase targets from 2k+. Was a piece of cake, but before I changed view distance, that mission was a bitch and a half. -

Just a fyi, 8 gb of ram isn't always the best option. -

Meh, I'm thinking of buying a 1 gig ati5750 off newegg, more power and more vram than my 5670. Hopefully the 1 gb will clear up my artifacts and texture problems (as I've said before I can get 40+ fps in most situations, so I think i've narrowed down the problem) Don't know what I'll do with the 5670, not big on selling things online and don't have many computer geek friends. Just hate having got a card not long ago, and having to replace it to play a game, I knew I shouldn't have went with 512 in the first place. -

Montanaro replied to jpinard's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
okay, so basically all crossfiring does is improve gpu processing? And I could crossfire a 5870 with my 5670 as long as they are both 512mb? My problem doesn't appear to be processing on the GPU, but the fact that I don't have enough memory (even though 512 is recommended not minimum). Would i be better off crossfiring two 512mbs or getting a 1gb 5670/higher model? -

you shouldn't fire your missiles while in the hanger... -

Would it be prudent for me to buy a 1gb ati5670, and crossfire it with my 512mb ati5670? Right now it appears my vram runs out (ground textures stop loading after a while, especially in big battles, and I get cluster star artifacts, and other artifacts). I think it has to do with my card running out of room. But I'm not positive an extra gb would help because the 5670 is low on the totem pole for the 5xxx series. Btw the MB can handle two pcie at 16x speed. -

I tried the 360 controller briefly on the dirt bike with default controls. Very interesting, but the control layout made it a little clunky. I may use joystick for flying and controller for vehicles. -

How many of you have offroaded? Going down a hill with no road can be extremely treacherous at most any speed. Let alone over 70KMH (which is absolutely insane in real life). You would wreck pretty much everything on the vehicle, deploy airbags, and probably roll over. Anything above 24 kph is asking for loads of trouble. btw, did anyone do cliff jumping on OFP, you could jump vehicles off a mountain and be fine. -
I haven't had an opportunity to test it yet, but does the slat armor on the stryker actually protect it from RPGS?

On the benchmark mission I get over 50 fps avg. But I still get artifacts while flying..... ugh, I have no idea what to do anymore. -

I'm using old faithful Microsoft sidewinder 2 but I think I'll give my 360 controller a whirl, a lot of buttons on it could streamline the aircraft/helicopter controls. -

My graphics were doing fine for once, until I started flying, then bam missing ground textures, and boom artifacts jutting through my screen. Needless to say I crashed.... Any ideas, could view distance (2500) or the fact I get these problems mostly when I fly have anything to do with it? -
that's what I was afraid of.

Enemy AI knows your position when you blow up satchel charges
Montanaro replied to Undeceived's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
blah, I restarted jackal to see if I could blow up the gas station (two satchels inside it won't take it out...) when I got to the tanks, the guard instead of patrolling around was standing right in the middle of them. If I got within a certain distance he would run to me get in my face, wait a bit then kill me. If I killed him alarms would sound. Very frustrating but fun mission. I didn't have the AI detect me when I blew satchels either btw, I've never experienced that problem in OFP or ARMA1. -
I'm not sure of the statistics with real life survivability with slat armor. But if it didn't help somewhat they wouldn't have it on the vehicles.

Does anybody else have this card, if so what settings are you running? Are you having any issues?

ugh, even with all my settings on the lowest possible (except vram) or disabled I still get missing textures and massive artifacts. I have no idea what to do anymore, I figured an 512mb ati 5670 would be good enough to handle it. I dont get it, my FPS is always smooth, it's just these damn artifacts, I can't play when I have a giant texture in my face. -
yes (good for jumping out at low speeds) at least you weren't ejected by hitting a telephone pole.
