That's the ejecta from the impact. From the commentator on NASA TV, it seems like it is larger than was expected. I can't wait to see how nice this and other pics look after they've been cleaned up a little more. Congrats to JPL for a job well done! smile_o.gif

I have a 94 meg WMV of NASA TV for about 30 minutes prior to impact to about and hour after impact that I'm uploading to yousendit right now, I'll post the link here when its done.

You should be able to see some of the other images here:

    Edit:

Here's the link for the WMV of some of the NASA TV coverage before and after the impact. http://s37.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3W30K3OW8MIEG04TVPNWBBCYPP

  2. I think I speak for all OFP fans when I say: OMG, these are some of the most beautiful screenshots I've seen in my life. I'm only wondering about what this is running on and how many FPS its getting(granted its probably debug code and not substantially optimized so its probably not performing terribly great right now). smile_o.gif

  3. (I admit I haven't read anywhere near all of this thread, so please forgive me if this has already been asked, which it probably has been). How long before OFP1 were screenshots released?

It'll be interesting to see how much this resembles the final product, many of the screenshots in BIS's "secret" photogallery thing look horrible compared to even a non-modded OFP CWS.

I have to say that the vegetation, effects/dust, and soldier models look very impressive. The screenshots feel much more like a picture than most screenies from OFP1 do(atleast IMO).

Atleast I guess this tells us that BIS is probably working very actively on OFP2, not just on OFP-Xbox and VBS. And thanks BIS for finally giving us a little info. smile_o.gif

  4. Do you have a router of some sort set up?  If you have a router, then make sure the DHCP server option is turned on.  It will make things much easier.  You will also want to make sure and turn on NAT(Network Address Translation) if for some reason it is off.

Try to release and renew the IP with ipconfig(Start->Run->cmd->ipconfig/release, then ipconfig/renew).

How was your network set up with just one computer?  And is/was that computer connected to the internet, or should it just have access to the other box?

You might also check the cables if you haven't used them before and especially if you made them yourself.

  5. I would agree that making it multiplatform would be a good thing. There's a lot of games for Windows, so fewer people aren't going to  be all that excited about a new game.  For Windows there are games somewhat close to what this might be, so a lot of people will just probably settle for them and accept their flaws, instead of taking an effort make something that's just a little bit better.  You would be a smaller fish in a bigger pond.

If it will work on Linux however, it will be more significant, and might attract more people's attention/help earlier on.  Since there isn't anything that is similar to this(AFAIK) for Linux, more Linux developers might be more interested it in, giving you more people to code.  You would be a larger fish in a smaller pond of Linux this way, and that would help you eventually become a larger fish in the larger(atleast for now ;) ) pond of Windows.  There is also probably a higher number of developers per user with Linux than with Windows(don't know for sure, but that would be my assumption).

I don't think there is that much of a downside of making it run on multiple OS's at this point since there isn't any code that you would have to change.

  6. It seemed like there was a level that was almost completely underwater(with no damage). I don't think the main stairs went down to it, I think there was a small set of stairs from some sort of engine room type thing. I'll try to post a screenshot since I obviously suck at explaining things. biggrin_o.gif

  7. I believe there are a few programs that let you see(assuming your processor supports its) the temperature. Let me try and find them.

Edit: OK HMonitor was one I used in the past. It has a 1 week evalutation.

My P4 is usually around 100 or 105, and my mobo is around 110(all Fahrenheit). Athlons usually run cooler.

  8. Three easy steps:

    1ÅŸ) Download high-res cwc islands

    2ÅŸ) Download dxdll

3ÅŸ) Download ecp + y2k3 or flashfx or eecp

And !woala! you have probably better quality than xbox screens, and something like vbs1 smile_o.gif

Ditto. I doubt the Xbox version will really look any better than the PC version because of all the mods that are out now. And even if they managed to make the Xbox version look as good as the PC version does with mods today, the PC version will always be more moddable in the future because of the major limitations of Xbox.

  9. Well I could certainly see how it might not look to good right now graphically, I mean look at some of the screen shots in BI's fans/pics page(you know the briefcase one). Some of them show some fairly rather bad looking bugs/model problems, and most of them do not look anywhere near as nice as OFP did, even when it was released. I wish they would atleast say something though.

  10. The SP Demo was fairly impressive. I assume there'll be more weapons in the full version(I'm sure I could look on their website, but that's like 5 clicks and twenty keystrokes away tounge_o.gif )
