In the Netherlands they change any driver's licence from a another country into a dutch one as long as you can prove that you've lived at least 6 months on a row in the country from which the foreign licence originates. BTW. Many germans come to holland to get their driver's licence, because here you don't have to undergo a psychological test. When they pass they trade their dutch licence in for a german one. I think in germany they don't have the rule that you must have lived for 6 months in the country where you got your foreign licence.

    Bin Ladin dead

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. But I think when they prove that bin laden has been killed by a hellfire shot from a predator the hearing will be history I never heard of the concept that they could shoot missiles from a recce drone. Maybe I should visit janes.com a more often in the future.

You can get your licence in germany, If you lived there longer than half a year I think. BTW by german law you have to undergo a psychological test before you apply for a driver's licence. So maybe it will be a little easier for you to get your licence in the UK

    Bin Ladin dead

Senior intelligence analysts believe there's a 10-15% chance they've actually killed bin laden. Will be very difficult to prove because bodies are probably already being moved by other al-qeada members who were also riding in the convoy. Hope it's true though. BTW I didn't knew the predator could fire hellfires. Nifty piece of equipment that is.

M60 GPMG soon history in US armed forces

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Armourdave @ Feb. 04 2002,01:54)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Better late than never I guess I've never fired either so can you outline what makes the FN MAG better? IIRC to replace the M60's barrel you actually have to grab it and yank it off which is obviously a problem due to it being red hot, but what else (other than accuracy)?<span id='postcolor'> The barrel on a M240 is changed by turning the handgrip anti-clockwise while depressing the barrel locking catch. There's no touching the barrel. The handgrip is actually attached to the barrel clicking a new one on is just as simple. The MRBF of the M240 is a staggering 26.000 while the last M60 variant the E3 only reaches 1700. In the time the M240 fails the M60 already failed 15 times! Field stripping of an M240 can be done under 30 seconds! (I know I could). Only drawback is the gassystem of the M240 is a little more complex than that of a M60. But the belgians invented some very nifty tools to clean the gassystem in the field without too much hassle. The accuracy of the M240 (as with all FN weapons) is legendary for GPMGs. If the M240 is properly zeroed at 200m it is a mutha in laying down accurate supressive fire up to 800m. The same effect with a M60 can only be reached by all time heroes Schwarzenegger and Stallone When shooting the M240 from the hip it seems to be much more balanced than the M60. It doesn't require as much effort to keep the barrel pointing at the target. While the M60 has the tendency to start spraying when shot from the hip. What should never be forgotten is when you take the butt of an M240 the bolt is always forward (no tension on the spring) otherwise the springloaded rod will shoot nicely through your stomach (In the dutch army this ia known as MAG-Harakiri). The FN-MAG is also developed in the early 1950s and it is still the best GPMG around (those belgians obviously know their trade).

    Australian Refugee problem

What really makes me sick is the way Australians think they have to handle the refugee problem in their country. I don't know if you saw the pictures on the news about the prisons where the australian put war refugees but it is in one word AWFUL! If you ask me, Howard is one big Nazi! Don't these people realise that the refugees are also human beings. It all started with a ship full of refugees a couple of months back which were dumped on some small island because australia refused the refugees entry in their "very small" country with almost no place for people to live. Refugees who made it to Australia are put in prison camps in the middle of the desert surrounded by 15 feet barbed wire fencing in the scorcing australian heat. "Concentration camps, the Aussie way" Sickening to watch. Today I saw pictures of children vowing to commit suicide if the situation won't become any better. Refugees are jumping inside the barbed wire concertinas as a last resort to get to the hospital were the situation is considered more bearable for the refugees. We are all talking about the americans treating the al-qeada members in a bad way. But let me tell you, those criminals have a pretty luxury confinement compared to war refugees in australia. Remember these people fled their countries because there is a war going on, these aren't economical refugees. Most of the economical refugees end up in europe. One Last word. Seemingly the australian people are content with the situation because Howard is doing pretty fine in the polls. They seemingly don't care that the refugees are also human beings and should be entitled to the same human rights as they are. Did the australians forget what their forefathers were? right, <span style='font-size:17pt;line-height:100%'>PRISONERS!!</span> the camp outer perimeter The reaction from the warmhearted aussie community

Maybe that's what the british media is telling. Believe me every west-europe country gets it fair share. Stating that almost every refugee want's to go to the UK is shortsighted. And based on the fact that you probably see some 100s of refugees trying to cross the channel every night on the british news. Why shouldn't your or my country take in any war refugees. Australian Refugee problem

After sifting through most of the replies on this topic I don't understand why everyone is accusing me of narrow-mindedness. Almost every reply I've read is probably just as narrow-minded as my opinion. I've read replies which are on the brink of just pure racist thoughts. Tell me, why does everybody think that the refugees in their own country are always economical refugees? Are there no more wars in the world? Â Since when do afghans, iraqis classify as economical refugees, because your government tells you so or is what you like to think? How many people in your country are really jobless because of the refugee problem....do you actually got a clue. It's also nice to see that on the first pages of this thread everyone is arguing that the refugees in australia are economical refugees. When I come to page 4 of this thread everyone is acknowledging the fact that the refugees are afghans. (you know from afghanistan, that little peaceful country besides pakistan where no war has raged for thousands of years) Here are some of your broad-minded opinions on refugees: "personally i dont really like refugees alot of the time they just live of benefits and this comes from a person that live in the same area as they did." "if they have nothing to offer your country why should you let them live there and pay for them" "WTC-attack wouldn't have happened if we wouldn't have let arabs come to western countries." For all you guys that are arguing that I would sing another tune when those refugees were standing on my doorstep: I live in the Netherlands. Fact1: Â The dutch percentually take in the most refugees per inhabitant of all countries in the world. While we enjoy almost the largest population density of all countries in the world. Fact2: The Netherlands is widely acknowledged in the whole world as being the country with the best functioning welfare system. Fact3: The unemployment figure in the Netherlands is the lowest in the whole of europe. Fact4: The dutch economy is one of the most stable ones in the world. (as acknowledged by lot of foreign politicians) What does this mean: Â Taking in of refugees didn't wreck my country's welfare system, economy and didn't leave me and the 99% of the dutch labour force jobless. This means that a lot of the replies made on my initial thread are just as narrow-minded and biased as mine. And it actually says that most of you also don't have a clue on this situation and are just uttering some stupid political prejudices.

    Naughty, Naughty CIA and Boeing

BEIJING, China (AP) -- China says it has discovered 27 bugging devices in a U.S.-made Boeing 767 it bought for the personal use of President Jiang Zemin, according to reports. The tiny, highly sophisticated devices were hidden in the jetliner's upholstery, including in the president's bathroom and the headboard of his bed, the London-based Financial Times said, citing unnamed Chinese sources. It said Jiang was outraged at the discovery. The bugs were discovered when they emitted static during a test flight after the plane's delivery in August, the newspaper said. In a separate report, The Washington Post said Chinese army communications experts found the bugs in October, days before the plane's first official voyage. Copied and pasted from CNN.COM

I.R.A Fired on british paras 1st on bloody sunday

Something different now: I've read in a dutch opinion magazine that the suicides in NI are rocketing up like mad. Youth say they have no future anymore now the troubles have ceased. In the past, the way that the youth chose was pretty clear. You left school at an early age and joined one of the military faction inside NI, be it the IRA or UVF, UDF etc. Nowadays most of the youths have brothers or fathers who've fought for what they believed was right and maybe died for it. In their eyes they're the heroes and will never be forgotten while the younger generations will mean nothing according to themselves. Many of them choose to commit suicide because of this. In 2001 there were some 1400 suicide attempts compared to an average of 200 when the troubles still existed. Sad but true. Every progress also has a backside. Also because almost every NI criminal (they call themselves political prisoners) was released from prison. Thereby overflooding the labour market and dramatically increasing the unemployed figures. Yes the real troubles have gone for now, but the future certainly doesn't look bright in NI

-Moderator Alert- When does it end these types of stupid polls. Like the "how old are you" thread, this thread has been posted at least posted 3 times before. Throwing stones doesn't justify soldiers emptying there guns on the crowd. I really cannot see how you can justify what happened over there. Yes the IRA did some really disgusting things, hence the name terrorists. But soldiers need to be professionals. Suppose you were in a bank. A gunmen steps in and shoots into the ceiling. Police on the outside hear the shot and start shooting 108 bullets at random through the windows of the bank. Only in 3rd world countries you run the risk to get shot by security forces when you are protesting. Is the UK a 3rd world country? don't think so. The Para's blundered big time, btw this is also the general idea at the para regiment self. I have a friend who's in the british para's and the incident is used in their "lessons learned" program. So if even the Para's acknowledge that their action was wrong, how the hell can you justify it. By saying that you acknowledge a total lacking of moral values and human rights. After the incident british army learned lots on controlling riots and now they are very proficient in it. But Bloody Sunday was clearly the example of how not to do it

I.R.A Fired on british paras 1st on bloody sunday

It still doesn't justify shooting 13 civilians without any fire arms. It mainly proves that it is impossible to use combat units like the paras for controlling riots. They resort too quickly to indiscriminate violence by emptying their guns at the crowd while the gunmen were not clearly identified. Here in Holland that is called Murder. 108 shots were fired, and no one was actually hit that was carrying a gun. This is the blackest and most scandalous day of the para regiment. Don't call me pro IRA or something, but I can't see how the killing of 13 unarmed protestors can be justified.
